Luke's POV
I saw that the lights were still on in the house after I pulled up coming back home. Shit. I was in serious and deep shit. I slowly made it to my front door and opened it. I saw dad and mom sitting their with the meanest expression on their faces.

"Hey, Mom. Dad," I said slowly closing the door while leaning against it.

"Why did I get a phone call about you getting suspended?" Shit. Forgot about that too.

"I got into it with a guy," I said with my head down, picking at the dirt caked underneath my fingernails.

"And what was the reason behind this fight," It wasn't a question my father asked. It was a command.

"I was protecting a friend," I didn't want to give out Vanessa's name because I don't even wanna know what they were going to say about that topic. "But mom and dad, I didn't start it! He did! He tackled me to the floor and started punching. It was just self-defense." I pleaded my case.

"We believe you," Dad said. Wow, okay. Never heard those words before. "I just don't understand why the didn't suspend the other kid," he said frustrated.

"Just make it in by curfew next time, Lukey-pooh," I hated when my mother called me that.

I rolled my eyes, "I will." I made my way upstairs until my dad called out.

"Hey, where were you anyways?" My dad said out to me.

"Just over by a friends," I said thinking on my feet. My dad nodded his head and I went upstairs to my room.

Vanessa's POV
*The Next Day*

I didn't go to school today. I think it would have been unbearable. Ryan would be there and Luke wouldn't. There was a knock on my door followed by Ashton head peeking inside.

"You okay?" Ashton asked concerned. I nodded my head solemnly.

"Could you just pick up my homework and stuff?" I asked him quietly.

"Yeah, sure thing," Then he closed my door.

So far today, I have nine missed calls and fifteenth new text messages all from yours truly, Ryan. I don't even want to know what they say because if I just open one I'm going to eventually end up talking to him and I don't want that.

I need something to take my mind off of him. I also need to find something to do. I don't want to just sit in the house and do nothing all day.

I unlock my phone and go through my contacts.

A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L...

Luke's POV
There's a ringing on the stand beside my bed. I groaned out of my sleep and turned over to pick up the phone.

"Hello?" I answered.

Vanessa's POV
"Hello?" He sounded sleepy but it was sexy. The way he answered so huskily.

"Hey Luke. Its Vanessa," I said through the phone.

Luke's POV
"Hey Luke. Its Vanessa," I heard her say and I shot straight up. Maybe too fast because I hit my head on the headboard.

"Ouch," I said rubbing my head.

Vanessa's POV
There was a bang on Luke's end. "Ouch," he said.

"What was that?" I asked him.

Luke's POV
"I just sat up too fast and hit my head on the headboard, that's all," I said and I heard her giggle. "Hey, why are you calling me? Not that I don't not like hearing your voice," she giggled again.

"I didn't go to school," she said.

"Why not?" She sighed and I could picture her face.

"After you left last night, Ryan stopped by. I thought it was you but..." She trailed off.

"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked her frantically. Fully awake now.

"He pinned me to the wall and kissed me. I called out to Ashton and he just beaten him inward." Now, I'm furious.

"I'm coming over," I said immediately jumping out of bed.

"I was hoping you would," I smiled and if its possible, I heard her smile too.

"I'll be over as soon as possible," I told her while I was taking off my clothes getting ready for the shower.

"Okay, see you then," Vanessa said.

"Bye," then I hung up and got ready to meet Vanessa.
