Leaving For The X Factor
***Niall's POV***
I woke up somewhere around 5 in the morning. I just stared at the ceiling for I don't know how long just thinking what I would be if I'd suceeded my dream, but most importantly, I was thinking of Avery. What would happen to her if I leave? I mean I'm sure I was coming back home, but what about the days I'm... you know... obviously not here. Will she be okay? Will she continue her addiction to cutting? That reminds me I still haven't asked her if she stopped. I sat up from the sleeping bag and checked her wrists. Nope, no fresh cuts. So, that means she has been keeping her promise. That's my best friend. I looked at her, and she looked peaceful in her sleep. I don't know if I should wake her up or not. I just kept on staring at her for I don't even know how long.
"I can feel you staring at me," she said suddenly then smiled and opened her eyes.
"You were awake all along?" I laughed.
"Nope," she said popping the 'p'. "Just a minute ago. I didn't actually wanna open my eyes 'cause I'm still tired."
"Well, sorry for waking you up."
"Nah, it's okay. It's not like I'll be going back to sleep any time soon," she said as she took all the covers off her. "What time are you leaving, again? And could you please answer with numbers; not just with a 'sometime in the morning'."
I was about to tell her, but then I heard my mum's voice in Avery's living room. I laughed, and said, "Now."
We both trudged down the stairs racing to the door just like old times. At the bottom of the stairs, I saw my mum with her arms crossed against her chest.
"Where were you last night?"
"Ermm. Here?" it actually sounded more like question than an answer.
"You didn't tell me you were having a sleep over at Avery's."
"Hey, neither did I, Maura," Avery said with a giggle.
"Well, let's go. We're leaving in an hour," she said as she grabbed my hand and led me to the door. "Oh, Avery do you wanna come with us? Will be back right after the audition you know that?"
"Oh, I'd love to," she paused and sighed. "But my mum."
"Oh, that's okay, dear. I understand."
And with that,we were out of the door.
***Skipping All The Boring Packing and Getting Ready Bit***
We were finally out of the house and loading all my luggage in our van. Some of my friends came over to say good bye and good luck to me. I was about to hop in the van when Avery came.
"Avery? What're you doing here?"
"To say good bye, silly," she said, "And to give you this," she said as she handed me her blue lucky charm bracelet.
"Why're you giving this to me?" I asked suddenly.
"For good luck, of course." She grabbed my left wrist and put the charm on me. "Sorry, it seems sort of girly on you."
"Nah, it's fine. It's not that obvious," I said as I examined the bracelet. "You're seriously giving this to me? I mean you wouldn't even let me touch it."
"Of course, I am!" she said with excitement. "But when you come back, I want it back," she giggled.
"Sure," I said as I pulled her into one of my Horan Hugs. "I'll miss you," I said against her hair.
"I'll miss you too."
My dad was getting impatient and beeped the car to signal me to hurry up.
"Bye, Niall," she said as she waved me good bye and going back to her house next door.
