I'm Here, and I Care
Guess I Was Right
***Avery's POV***
It's been a few weeks since Niall left for the X Factor; turns out he made it through the next round. And ever since he left, things have been.... good? Yeah right! Don't lie to yourself, Avery! You keep on telling yourself that, but it happens the other way! Everything has been WORSE since he left! Everybody in school make fun of me; push me; throw food at me while eating lunch; dunk my head in the toilet for lunch money; they call me a slut, whore, b****, fat, worthless, ugly, and the list goes on. I just wish Niall was here. In case you didn't know, I'm actually still in bed. I didn't want to get up, because I just have a sick feeling something will go wrong if I leave for school. Not like it's going to be any better if I did. After debating with my head on what to do, I decide to just stay -- it's not like my mum will care. I threw the covers off me and got ready for the day.
After that, I went outside to go to Niall's -- even though I know he's not there -- to maybe help Maura with something. I rang the doorbell, and Maura answered it.
"Well, hi there, Avery," she greeted me. "What're you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school?" she asked with a smirk on her face.
"Well, yeah, I know I should be, but I just have this gut feeling something will happen to my mum if I leave," I said while making hand gestures. "Anyways, I just came here to maybe help you if you need my help, do you?"
"Well, of course, dear," she said while welcoming me in their house. "I'm making some chocolate chip cookies for the orphanage because they're having a program later this afternoon."
"Ooooh, chocolate chip!"
"Now, don't eat them unless I tell you. I know how you can steal food like Niall," she giggled.
"Yes, ma'am."
***Skipping all the baking***
After helping Maura with baking, I went back to go check on my mum if she's fine. I opened the front door, and trudged up the stairs to her room. I opened the door, and she wasn't there. Funny the room's all tidied up and the TV's switched off -- she never turns it off. I checked all the rooms in the house and still no sign of her. I finally went down to the basement -- where she used to paint -- to see if she's there. And then I saw her. Hanging. I just cried and cried on the floor until I saw a paper on the chair she stood on. I picked it up, and it said:
Dear Avery,
I'm sorry for all of this. I just couldn't take it anymore! I just wanted to be with your father. I just wanted to be happy. Don't worry about yourself, dear. I already told your cousin, Jake, to take care of you, since he's qualified enough.

PS Please, do me a favor and tell Niall what you feel for him. Haha you think I don't know? Babe, I can see it in your eyes you love him. Ever since you and Niall started becoming best friends, I knew right away you two will end up together. Forever.
I finally got the courage to call the police, and tell them what happened. As I was waiting for them, I just sat there with my back against the wall just staring at her. Funny how I can't seem to take my eyes off of someone who just died, and I don't even feel scared. The police came and got her and me out of the house. Apparently, Maura heard about it since she was just next door. She let me stay in Niall's room just until Jake arrives. I was so silent while I was with Maura. I didn't even eat dinner I just stayed in Niall's room just staring blankly at a wall.
***Skipping to the next day***
Maura finally persuaded me to go to the living room to watch some movie with her. And now, that's what I'm kind of doing. Somebody rang the door bell while we were in the middle of watching the movie. Maura let person in and turned out to be Jake.
"Hey," he said while sitting next to me ang hugging. He finally let me go, and said,"Are your things ready? 'Cause I'm kind of running late."
I went up the stairs and got all my things from Niall's room and gave Maura the letter I wrote last night to Niall.
***Skipping to when she arrives in Jake's apartment 'cause I'm lazy***
Jake left me all alone in his apartment with nothing to do. Turns out he lives in America. While I was here, I decided to decorate my room, and cook for when he comes back. I guess I was right with not going to school yesterday.
