Life, Cars and Zayn Malik... Wait What?!

Chapter 8: Cuddle-buddy

Zayn’s POV
Today was the day of Codie’s return. And Jamie’s. First I would say hello to Codie, then to Jamie. Well, I would call Jamie anyway… I walked into the kitchen, which was where I had heard Codie’s voice. I walked in on her and Louis kissing. “Get a room!” I shouted, announcing my arrival.
“That’s what this is, isn’t it? Anyway, we were here first.” Codie said.
“But this is a public room. Everyone walks through here, everyone comes here to get food.” I said in response.
“Zayn, honey, this is my house, this is my kitchen, you are my guest. I have kicked you out before, there’s nothing stopping me from doing it again.” She said smiling. Obviously I was not wanted at the moment. I turned on my heels and left. I got my phone out and called the right number.
“Hello-” I started but was cut off by a tired sounding Jamie.
“Who the f*ck is calling me at this time? Especially when I don't know whose number this is?!” she shouted.
“It’s Zayn.” I answered.
“Zayn… Zayn… Zayn…” she tried to remember where she had heard the name. “Zayn…” I heard her clicking her fingers. “Oh Zayn…” she said depressingly, she still couldn’t remember me.
“Keep saying my name, love, it turns me on.” I told her.
“OH YOU'RE THAT ZAYN!” she shouted, emphasizing the ‘that’.
“Yes, yes I am.” I responded.
“How do you have my f*cking number?” she asked calmly. Well, calmly for Jamie.
“Louis. He is an amazing friend sometimes.” I answered.
“Please delete my number. That way I won’t have to deal with any flirtatious calls from you.” She snapped.
“What if it’s the other way around?” I asked her. There was a moment of silence. She was hesitating, I smiled.
“I doubt that would happen.” she finally responded. Hesitation and denial. When you put them together, it means they’re lying.
“Do you now?”
“Yes I do.” She was keeping her sentences short.
“Well then, we’ll see about that.” I said.
“YO BOYS!!! MOVIE NIGHT TONIGHT, YOU MAY HAVE A PLUS ONE!!!” I heard Codie shout.
“So Jamie, you doing anything tonight? We’re apparently having a movie night, and we can have a plus one.” I explained.
“Sure, sounds like fun. I will be having a nap in between now and then.” She said.
“Alright, I’ll see you then.” I said.
“When will I be seeing you again?” she asked.
“Whenever you get here I suppose.” I replied.
“Right.” She responded.
“Mhm.” This was a great conversation.
“Well I’m gonna leave now. That way I won’t fall asleep.” She said.
“Yeah you won’t fall asleep.” I said in the creepiest tone I could.
“What?” she must have missed it.
“Nothing.”
***
“Peasants bow down, you’re Queen is here!” I heard Jamie shout. I strolled out of my room to greet her. I bowed down.
“Hello ma’am.” I said in my British accent. “How may I be of service?” I joked around.
“Get me some caffeine and chips and chocolate and pizza and hot chips and cake and biscuits and some lasagne and maybe more caffeine.” She listed in a British accent, counting on her fingers.
“Whatever thy royal desires.” I changed to Shakespeare.
“Why does thou henceforth speak in Sir Shakespeare’s English?” she asked, with a confused look on her face. “Did that make sense?” she asked next.
“I’m not sure…” I trailed off, thinking a little too much about it.
“I’m not either…” she did the same as me.
“JAMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!” I heard Codie shout.
“CODIIIIIIEEEEE!!” Jamie responded. They ran to each other and hugged, jumping in a circle. “I am so tired, it isn’t funny.” She added.
“Same here.” Codie said in a hysterical tone. “Why are you here?” she asked.
“I heard you’re having a movie night, and you didn’t invite me.” Jamie said, poking Codie with every word.
“Yeah, I thought you would be sleeping so I didn’t.” she responded.
“Well someone invited me since you could have a ‘plus one’.” Jamie responded.
“Okay.” Codie said, looking straight at me. “Would that have been you, Zen?” she asked.
“Maybe.” My eyes shifting suspiciously.
“God dammit Zayn. You should have known that if I was tired, Jamie would be tired. That was a bad idea, but at least I have a friend with me!” Codie turned it into a positive.
“Yay, I'm a friend!” Jamie squealed.
“Yay!” Codie said.
“Yay!” Jamie said again.
“Yay!”
“Yay!”
“Yay!”
“Yay!”
“Can you guys stop ‘yay’-ing yet?!” Louis shouted.
“Never!” the two girls shouted at the same time.
“Yay!”
“Yay!”
“Yay!”
Jamie’s POV
I wasn’t too sure why Zayn had asked me to go. Why would any of them have asked me to go? None of the other girls were here. It was just me and Codie. And the boys. Apparently we were starting the night with two horror movies, then watching ‘Fast and Furious 6’ or whatever one it was, then we were easing off with an animated movie.
Tonight was definitely going to be interesting. So, movie number one. ‘Wolf Creek’. “Now who needs a cuddle-buddy?!” Liam shouted.
“Usually the one who asks that question, is the one who needs a cuddle-buddy.” I answered, grabbing a pillow to hold… and cuddle.
“I think Jamie needs one.” He said while smiling, I scowled in response.
“I don't like you anymore. I finally got over the fact you’re from One Direction, and started to like you as a friend. That just went out the window.” I said, giving him the darkest and worst threat in the entire world. That should make him regret what I said. We then had a staring contest.
“Uh guys, the movies started.” Zayn said, sitting next to me. Wait, he was sitting next to me?! Too late to move now. While we watched the movie, I was biting the pillow to stop myself from any possible screaming. It’s scary, mainly because it’s Australian. And scarier because it’s South Australian. At least I’m fairly sure it was…
I kind of just sat on the couch, looking at the black TV screen when the movie finished. Codie then picked the next movie. ‘The Thing’. You have got to be kidding me. I stared straight at her, giving her the look of ‘I will kill you in your sleep’. She replied with a look of ‘oh I’m sure you will’. The look was sarcastic. “Codie, if I can’t sleep tonight, I’m blaming you.” I told her.
“Yeah yeah, just watch the movie Jamie.” She responded. She knows how much I hate this damned movie.
“I don't like you anymore.” I said. For this movie, I was probably gonna need a cuddle-buddy. But I was not going to give Liam the satisfaction of being right. Or Zayn the satisfaction of needing him to hug. I bit the pillow again as the movie started. None of them would hear me scream. None of them. As soon as the Thing in the movie started going around in people’s bodies, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I jumped to my left and wrapped may arms around Zayn’s chest. Burying my face into his shirt, I could only hear it. Which wasn’t much better. I could feel him become stiff, but then he relaxed and let me hold him. “You alright there babe?” he asked, stroking my hair.
“Not your babe. You’re just my cuddle-buddy.” I corrected him.
“Whatever you say, love.” He whispered into my ear. Chills were sent down my spine. God damn that was sexy. I have to admit it, because it was. There was no fighting it. There was no denying it. It just was.
“It goes Zayn. Whatever I say goes.” I whispered in response.
“Of course.” this was a nice, quiet conversation.
“Damn straight.” I closed my eyes before I heard a scream from the movie. I jumped.
“It’s okay Jamie. Everything will be okay.” I know it will, because you and your abs will fight all of the baddies off… wait what? Why did I think that?
“I hope so.” I responded. Turning to face the screen. Bad idea. “Why is my timing always so bad?” I asked no one.
“Don’t know.” I jumped again, holding back a scream. “Not that I'm complaining.” He added on the end. When the movie finally ended everyone left to get tea, which was going to be pizza. They all left the room, including Zayn who had turned into my living pillow. I sat there, in the dark, my eyes flitting to every shadow in the room. I needed to pee, but I was not walking down the hall without someone to shove in front of me if something were to jump out of a shadow.
“Are you alright there?” I heard someone say. I jumped at the sound and turned to face where the voice had come from. “Hey, calm down, it’s just Zayn.” I sighed as he turned the light on.
“I need to pee.” I stated randomly, not that he needed to know that.
“Then why don't you just go?” he asked.
“Too many shadows, not enough people to shove in front of me if something deadly jumps out.” I answered.
“Of course. Do you need me to go with you?” Zayn asked.
“Are you willing to die for me?” I queried.
“If that be the cost, I would be willing to pay.” He answered, sounding like a knight.
“Thank you, kind sir. It would be greatly appreciated.” I said in response. I stood up, gripping tight to my pillow, ready to use it as a weapon if need be. I walked slowly, keeping close behind Zayn. “What if it comes from behind?” I asked.
“Then with my perfect ninja skills, I will do a flip over your shoulders and attack it.” He answered very seriously.
“Piggy-back!” I shouted, running and jumping onto his back. He caught me (which was a little unexpected). Usually when I do that people freeze and go ‘whut?’and fall over because they didn’t expect me to be on their back. Zayn didn’t even take an extra step to keep his balance. He just caught my legs and held me there, no stumbling because of surprise. “Usually people don't catch me when I say that.” I stated.
“I’m not a usual person, am I?” his voice sounded muffled.
“No, you’re not.” I smiled.
“If you’re smiling, I want to see it. I haven’t seen you smile yet and I want too. Also, if you could remove the pillow from my face, that would be brilliant.” He said, his voice still sounding muffled. Oh, right.
“Sorry.” I said while throwing away the pillow. He walked into Codie’s room, and I went into the bathroom. I came out again and jumped on his back again. When we were walking back to the lounge room my stomach grumbled, I still hadn’t had any food.
“Hungry are we?” he asked.
“A little…” I trailed off.
“To the kitchen!” he shouted, changing direction. He walked in, and we couldn’t see anyone else. I looked around suspiciously. Where were they?
“RAWR!”
*high pitched scream*
“Do you want to make me go deaf?!” Zayn shouted. All of the other people were laughing. They had all umped out from behind everything, and all shouted at the same time.
“Sorry, but these stupid motherf*ckers decided to jump out at me after I watched horror movies. Not a good plan!” I shouted.
“Do you want me to drop you?” he asked.
“I’d prefer it if you didn’t. Thanks for not doing it already though.” I kissed his cheek. Wait, I did what? I could feel him freeze as the boys wolf-whistled. Wow, I was not thinking about my actions. His muscles stiffened and he gripped my legs tighter. I gasped.
“Sorry.” He said, loosening his grip. He dropped me to the ground and turned to face me, I smiled. “There’s that smile I’ve been dying to see.” He said almost too sweetly. The rest of the people filed out of the room. His hands were resting on my waist, mine were on his abs- I mean stomach. He leant forward to move his face closer to mine, his eyes closing. I did the same, feeling the warmth of his face moving closer to mine. We were just about to touch…
But then my brain got in the way and made me move my face to the side, his lips touched my cheek. “You’re not there yet, sweetie.” I joked, trying to cover up what I was about to do. He clicked his fingers.
“And I thought I was getting somewhere.”
