Life, Cars and Zayn Malik... Wait What?!

Chapter 2: Wow, I need to get a life...

Okay, so…
I had done absolutely nothing in the past few days. I’ve been bored, but I haven’t done anything about it. Codie’s life has been busy, Amelie’s been doing whatever she does with the car, well before it flew off. It had to go to Sydney, to get ready to race. Wow, I need to get a life. At the moment I was in the truck, all of our suitcases packed and ready to go. That was Amelie’s, Clarisse’s, Elysse’s and mine.
We had to get Codie. I was driving there, and we were ready and prepared for anything. I turned into the driveway and saw Codie sprinting to the back of the truck. The rest of us jumped out of the truck as five boys came out of Codie’s house. Recognition instantly came over me. Oh god no. Not those five boys. No wonder Codie wants to kill them. I covered my ears as Clarisse and Amelie had their fan girl moment.
Seriously, they sounded like a pair of banshees. I was feeling so sorry for Codie. Those five boys. One Direction. I don't even care for their names. They stopped me at One Direction. I just stood there, a look of ‘what the utter frick is going on here?’ next to Elysse, probably having the same face. Amelie was talking to the long haired one. Clarisse was talking to… Liam? Yeah, I think that’s him. I’m 5% sure. The other three, whatever the hell their names were, were standing next to the house trying to look cool. It wasn’t a look that suited them, let’s put it nicely.
Yes, I am very blunt if you haven’t gathered that already…
I am also sarcastic at times.
“Guys! It’s kinda hard to get out the car when there's a door in the way!” I heard Codie’s voice shout. Without thinking twice I ran to the driver’s side and jumped in, clicking the button that opens the trailer. I hopped out again and stood next to Elysse. “Where’s the car?” Codie asked slowly, after she walked up to us. Shit, I forgot about that. How do I put this? And break it to her easily?
“Oh, umm, it’s in Sydney.” I said quietly.
“What?!” She screamed at me.
“It needs a new engine, to be repainted and to get ready for the race. By the way, you may want to pack a suitcase, your leaving in…” I looked at my watch. “2 hours, that’s why we came here. The truck came because we wanted to bring it I suppose.” She didn’t need to respond to that. Instead her jaw dropped and she ran, the fastest I had ever seen, inside the house.
What was taking her so long? We had been sitting here for an hour. In an awkward silence, while Clarisse was holding Liam’s hand and Amelie and Harry (I think…) were making out on one of the lounge chairs. Oh, I suppose it wasn’t an awkward silence. There were sucking noises coming from those two.
“Hey.” The black hared 1D boy who was sitting next to me decided to break the silence. I never looked at him, I averted my eyes to the television that was turned off. Why wasn’t it on?
“Hey?” I kind of asked. This was soooo much better than an awkward silence… not.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“What’s yours?” I snapped. He ignored the tone, but responded to the question.
“I’m Zayn Malik.” He answered.
“I’m Grey. Jamie Grey.” Yes, I was in a James Bond mood.
“Wow, that’s like how Louis introduces himself to everyone.” He stated randomly. I just looked at him, his brown eyes were sparkling.
“Okay then.” I looked away as I said the small sentence slowly. “Which one’s Louis?” I asked next. If they’re staying with Codie, I may as well get to know who they are.
“That one.” He pointed at one with brown hair and blue eyes.
“Okay.” I tried to memorise the name to the face. “Who is everyone else?” he gave me a look of ‘seriously? You don't know who we are?’. “No, I don't know who you are. I am not a fan girl. I don't actually like your band. I’m only learning who you are so that when Codie talks shit about you, I’ll know which one she’s talking about.” I smiled sweetly.
“She’ll talk shit about us?” he asked, a little shocked.
“Don't feel flattered, sweetie. It happens to everyone.” I told him.
“Okay, well that’s Liam. That one is Niall.” He pointed to the respected people. And then he got to the one that was getting busy with Amelie. “And that’s Harry.” He said, in a sort of disowning voice. “So, who’s your friends?” he asked me. I gave him a look of ‘seriously? You don't know who we are?’ he laughed at me. “No I don't know who you are.” He said.
“Well, I’m Jamie. That is Clarisse, that’s Elysse.” I paused to look at Amelie and… Harry? Yes. Harry, that’s his name. “And that’s Amelie.” I gave him the knowledge. “I hope to god that you know who Codie is by now.” He laughed at me again. What was so funny about that? If he doesn’t know who Codie is, she will slowly kill him. That’s nothing to laugh about, because she would do it. I looked at him blankly. His laughing stopped. “That wasn’t supposed to be funny.”
“Sorry.” He laughed half-heartedly.
“I should think so.” I kept my annoyance locked away, putting on a sweet voice instead. He laughed again. Seriously, what is wrong with him? I’m not trying to be funny. I am being very serious. Correction. Deadly serious. “What is wrong with you?” I asked bluntly.
“Nothing. What's wrong with you?” he asked.
“Nothing’s wrong with me. I’m flawless.” I struck a pose, which looked pretty damn weird since I was sitting on the couch. This time, I was trying to make him laugh, because I would prefer to hear him laugh than actually hear him talking to me. That was when I got a whiff of cigarette smell. “Do you smoke?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’ve been trying to quit, it isn’t working for me.” he said.
“Oh you poor thing.” I said, now my sarcastic side was shining through.
“I know.” Now he was acting out being a dramatic bitch. Or maybe he wasn’t acting…
“Oh god.” Could Codie hurry up and pack her damned bags? We still have to leave. Soon. As in, within the next half an hour. As in, we have to be at the airport in half an hour. Yeah, she should hurry up. “You know smoking isn’t good for you, right?”
“Yeah, that’s why I’ve been trying to quit.” He told me. “You know you’re quite beautiful, right?”
“I would never date a guy who smokes.” I stated quickly, ignoring his last statement. Again he laughs. How is that funny?
“Heh, you make me laugh a lot.” He stated the damned obvious.
“And that’s a good thing?” Codie came down the stairs, saving me from this conversation.
“Amelie Ford!” Codie screams. The only response from her is the middle finger. Codie storms up to them and pulls Amelie off of Harry (fair sure that’s him). “We are leaving Amelie.” At those words I jumped up and away from the weird guy who sat next to me. He’s Zayn? Yes. I walked towards the door, spinning the keys to the truck around my finger.
“James Bond, my phone.” Codie said, her hand out towards who I’m fairly sure is Louis. Let’s say I’m not good at remembering people, or faces, or names. He gave the phone back. I had seen him playing with it before, but I thought he just had an identical one to Codie. We all walked outside and put her suitcase in the trailer of the truck.
“Now, Mum should be home in about half an hour. If she finds that you have invited people over or have trashed the place, she will kill you, okay? Just because your One Direction doesn’t mean she won’t, yes? If I come home and I find that the place is trashed, I will personally hunt you down and hang your head on my wall. Good, we understand each other. The kitchen is full of food, Niall, don’t binge eat again, there’s not enough food for that. I’m trusting you to be by yourself, okay? Good.” Codie gave her last instructions to the boys.
Louis comes up and gives Codie a massive bear hug. “007, get off of me.” she pleaded, out of breath. She takes a deep breath before gesturing to them all. “I’m watching you all, especially you.” she left her finger pointing at Louis. He smiles evilly in response. I don't think I could trust that smile. We all jumped in the truck and left.
“God dammit Codie, why didn’t you tell me who was staying at your house?” I asked.
“I knew you wouldn’t care.” She answered.
“Oh I care. I care very much.” I responded.
“Why?” she asked me.
“Because then I would have known to stay away from your bloody house for the amount of time they were staying there for!” I ranted.
“Love, you would come within the two months.” She told me.
“Two months?!” I shrieked. Swerving a little. “I feel sorry for you.” I kept calm.
***
We had landed in Sydney. And we were all settled down in our rooms. I was sharing with Clarisse. God damn Elysse, Codie and Amelie for ‘calling dibs’ on having their own rooms. Right now I sat on the couch, trying to keep my eyes open and watch ‘Bones’. The episode was almost finished. “Just hold on for… ten… more… minutes.” My eyes closed and I started to relax.
“GUYS!!! GUYS!!! GUYS!!! MEET IN THE LOUNGE ROOM!!! NOW!!!” Codie shouted, making me wide awake. In the fright I managed to stand up, but I didn’t sit back down.
“I wasn’t going to sleep!” I lied straight off the bat.
“Oh, I am so sorry Jamie, but this is important. Really important for my single life. Especially when that single status is threatened by a boy from One Direction.” She said.
“Oh, honey, I will gladly stay awake to help you out of this shit.” I said, fake crying.
“Thank you.” She replied, also fake crying. The other three walked in and we instantly put our fake crying faces away. “Okay guys, so my single status is being put in jeopardy because of Louis Tomlinson. He has challenged me to a riff-off, not much different to the one in Pitch Perfect, with a beautiful theme of us singing only their songs and them singing only Taylor Swift.” She explained.
“Can I opt out? I would do anything to save you, but I am not singing their songs.” I told her.
“Please please please?” she asked. “I would do it for you.” she said. I knew she would, and this would only be happening once… right?
“Fine.” I responded. She started squealing and wrapped her arms around me.
“Have I ever told you I love you?” she asked.
“Multiple times.” I responded bluntly.
“Well, I’ll admit it again.” She said. “Okay, we need a game plan.”
“Uh… re-wire our brains to know every single One Direction song that has ever existed. And by ever, I mean, EVER.” I offered. “We’ll just need a futuristic piece of technology that makes our minds like computers, so we can copy and paste the lyrics to our brains.” I added on the end.
“Jamie.” Codie started.
“Yes?”
“Keep it simple.” She finished.
“You could listen to nothing but songs from their albums.” Amelie offered.
“And kill our minds slowly? How about… no?” I said.
“What if we listen to just one. Then you have a better chance of learning all the lyrics.” Clarisse said.
“Not a bad idea.” Elysse agreed.
“I don't mind it either.” Amelie agreed too. I looked at Codie. Please help me.
“I’m sorry Jaime, but I want to stay single. Especially if the option for going out with someone is Louis.” She said. I took a deep breath.
“Fine. I’ll do it.” I agreed. The weekend was filled with the sound of cars and inherent screeching. The inherent screeching being the One Direction CD ‘Take Me Home’. Whenever I saw (or heard) that, I just wanted to say to their faces ‘no. I will not take you home. I will take you to the pound. Where you belong.’ Is how I would put it simply.
God damn, this was too much effort. Actually trying to remember the lyrics to these damned songs. Not being allowed to listen to any other songs. God freakin dammit. Why must this always happen to me? Poor little me? I get told I’m ‘beautiful’ by Zayn Malik. Then I have to sing One Direction songs so that Codie can keep single with the threat being Louis Tomlinson. I had to listen to Amelie making out with Harry Styles. I had to look at Clarisse holding Liam’s hand.
I hate those five boys.
With a passion.
There is a burning Hatefire here.
Oh, let’s not forget that we haven’t done any form of group singing for two years.
We’re doomed. I’m sorry Codie, but you’re gonna have to get over it. The chances of us winning are pretty small.
