Life, Cars and Zayn Malik... Wait What?!

Chapter 1: Hello Lovelies

I stretched from my position on the couch, knowing very well it was a Thursday afternoon. That meant race day. I heard my phone ringing and I ran to find it. I grabbed it and touched the green square on the touch screen. “Hello?” I said. “Hey Jamie!” Elysse screamed through the phone. “Hello Dracula.” I responded, using her nickname. There is a long story behind that, I might tell you later… maybe. “I’m coming around, well Clarisse is, with the truck soon, so be ready to get picked up. Mmkay?” she told and asked me. “Okay.” I agreed, still half asleep from watching a movie in the dark. “Hey, do you know who Codie has got at her house now? Amelie won’t tell me…” she asked. “She probably hasn’t told you because you an untrustworthy little shit, okay? Okay. And to answer your question, no, I don’t know.” I replied. “Oh, okay. But Witherspoon does seem pretty excited.” She told me, using Amelie’s nickname. I’ll catch you up on everything going on in my life… As soon as I know what’s going on in my life. “Well, whatever, I’m gonna get ready, see you when you get here.” I said. “Alright, see you then.” We hung up and I looked in the mirror in my bathroom, which is where I found my phone. “Oh god.” I said to myself, seeing my messy as hair, and the tear stains on my face… I had just watched Titanic, which was a bad idea, considering I don’t have any chocolate. My blue eyes were bloodshot from the tears. I braided my strawberry blonde hair back out of my face, and splashed water on my cheeks. Shit, I have to remind Amelie we have to leave soon. “AMELIE!!! WE NEED TO GET READY NOW!!!” I shouted to the world. “OKAY!!!” she responded. I cannot be screwed with make-up right now. Instead I went to my room and changed into more comfortable clothes. I heard the truck pull up on the side of the road. I then heard the door of it open and close, and within a few seconds someone was bashing on my door. “I’m coming!!!” I shouted in response. “Your better bloody well be!” I heard Clarisse’s voice come back at me. “Come in if you want!” I shouted. “No! We need to leave! Now!” she shouted back. “Why right at this moment?!” “Because we still have to pick up Codie and we’re already running late!” she explained. That was when I actually looked at the time. She wasn’t kidding about the ‘running late’ part. “Holy motherf*cking shit balls.” I finally got my shoes on, grabbed the keys and Amelie. She was hesitant, because she was tired. I practically dragged her out of her room. She was complaining, but I still dragged her out. Her hazel eyes looked tired. So when we got to the truck I jumped in the driver’s seat, and being a good truck we had a double cab. “Hello lovelies.” I greeted my friends. “Elysse.” I nodded in her direction, leaving her out my ‘lovelies’ group. The three sat in the back, and I drove straight to Codie’s house. As soon as we pulled up, we looked out the front window with confusion. It would have been a sight, all of us looking with eyebrows furrowed and wondering what the hell Codie was doing. We saw her pop out of the roof, from what I could tell from the bathroom. Her bathroom. Through the skylight. Why was she climbing through the skylight? The people at her house can’t be that bad, can they? This was kinda like a scene from a James Bond movie or something, just without the violence and guns. She runs along the roof of the house and then starts to climb down a ladder. She then looks torn as to which way she should go. She runs to the back of the house, and disappears. When she reappears she is coming through the front door and fumbling what I think are keys. She locks the door for some unknown reason and the sprints to the truck, where she collapses. I can hear her sucking in the air to her lungs. Elysse sticks her head out of her window. “Geez, take long enough there.” She said sarcastically. “I will explain on the way.” Codie says before sprinting to the garage to get her car. Her race car. She drives it into the truck and then runs to the front door of the truck, getting into the front passenger seat. She sits for a second after locking the door. She obviously sees someone in one of the windows as I drive out of the driveway. Both of her hands go up, showing only her middle fingers. I had seen her do that just before she got into the cab of the truck too. “Okay, what was that all about?” I asked. “Let’s say a specific group of people I don’t like that play music tried to make me watch Paranormal Activity 5. Let’s also say that I fell asleep while watching it, and I woke up to being covered with water. Let’s also, also say that I may have jumped up and ran to the bathroom, and climbed out of the skylight when I heard the truck. I’m fairly sure you guys saw everything after that.” She explained simply. “Can we know who’s at your house?” I asked next. “Jamie, my dearest love, you don’t want to know.” She told me with pain and anguish in her voice. “They are already annoying the complete and utter shit out of me. I want to kill them so bad.” “What’s stopping you?” Elysse (of course) asked her. “One. It would be all over the news. Two. It says ‘not to kill people’ on the contract to take care of celebrities. Last. I won’t get paid if I kill them.” Codie said. “I also wouldn’t waste the genius on killing them when I could kill you.” She said under her breath. I laughed with her. “Of course.” Amelie agreed. Not knowing the last reason. “Oh, not to mention you’d have to bail me out of jail.” Codie remembered another important factor. “That too.” Clarisse also agreed. “Well, this is eventful, we haven’t even got to the racetrack yet.” I stated. “Yes, it is very eventful already.” Elysse said formally, knowing it was one of my pet peeves. “I just said that.” I told her. “I know that you had just stated that statement.” Oh my god. “Go jump in a pit of burning lava and swim. I dare you.” I said calmly. “That sounds like fun!” Elysse said seriously. She was always like this, let’s say me and Codie are both over all of that shit. “Do, or say, anything like that again and I will shove a toothbrush so far up your f*cking arse you’ll be able to brush your teeth.” I said with a sweet smile. “Maybe later honey.” See what I mean? “One. She isn’t made of honey. Two. She will never be your ‘honey’.” Codie stated the obvious. I nodded my thanks. “One day I will bunch up enough anger to actually punch her in the face instead of threaten to, and never follow through with it.” I whispered to Codie. “It will probably be the same day as me.” She agreed with me. “Okay, what are you two scheming?” Amelie asked. “Nothing.” Both of us said at the same time. *** Codie jumped out of the car, winning our 100th race. She hugs the first person outside of her car. I laughed to myself before she figured out who it was. “Sorry, thought you were a friend.” She said to the random. I still had no idea who it was. She moved on from that guy and to me. Then to Clarisse, Elysse and lastly Amelie. “We did it!” she squealed. I guess we actually did. “100 baby!” I shouted while jumping around like a lunatic. With her. “Guess what Tinkerbelle, you are now officially in the big leagues babe” Elysse said, Codie shook her head. I forgot about that little thing there. “You’re kidding aren’t you? Yeah you are. Thank you for attempting that shit, but I don’t believe it.” It was Elysse who shook her head as some guy in a black tux came in. He was the guy that came in and talked to Elysse while Codie was racing. “Can I help you?” Codie asked a little bitterly. “If you are Codie Badress, than yes.” The guy answered. “Yeah, that’s me.” Codie still wasn’t convinced this guy would get her into V8 Supercars. He offered his hand and Codie took it gingerly. We all watched eagerly. “I shall be your new manager, if you decide to come to the official V8’s. I have the contract here if you want to sign right away. You get a new team, a new car, and a fair bit of cash for every race and extra if you place.” He said. Codie looked at us, then back to this guy. She was procrastinating, I could tell. “I will on one condition.” She said. “I can’t change the offer.” He told her. “Look, I know you want me to race on your team. I can see it on your face, you desperately want me before anyone else even knows about me. Look, the only way I am going is if I keep my team, and my car. I probably wouldn’t drive as well in one of your cars anyway. You can put a new engine in my car, you can add people to my team, I just want my car and my friends. I would think that’s a pretty simple request, seen as it wouldn’t cost you as much money.” I smiled, she was always good at getting her way. He looked like he was thinking about it. “Alright then, you got yourself a deal. Your first race is on Sunday. I’ll send you a text. Your friend Elysse has every little detail, and if you need me, my numbers on here.” Codie just got into V8s and got us to go with er. That’s what’s happening right? This isn’t a dream is it? “Were in baby!” She shouted in the middle of our group hug. By the time we calmed down it was time to present the trophies. We all made sure she would keep this one. She usually gives it away to someone else on the team, this time there was no choice, she was keeping it. Whether she liked it or not. “Amelie, I think there’s something wrong with the gear box!” we all heard Codie shout from the garage. The rest of us were in the change room. “I’ll check it in a minute!” Amelie shouted back, annoyance in her voice. “I only fixed that damned gear box last week.” she said through her teeth. That was followed by a long sigh. Her hair was in two inverted braids, and it was a reddish-brown colour. “Oh, you poor thing.” Clarisse said sarcastically. Her dyed blonde hair had blue tips, the green in her eyes contrasted with the brown flecks in the same irises. “Shut up Waterfall. I’d like to see you do it.” Amelie snapped back. “Keep calm Witherspoon, you need to be focused if you're gonna fix the gearbox.” I told her. “I see your point Booker.” She responded. “I don't know, she might need some anger…” Elysse tried to be smart. I breathed a massive sigh. “Dracula.” I addressed her with her nickname. “Yes?” she responded. “Shut the f*ck up.” I said simply. She looked a little shocked at what came out of my mouth, but otherwise she wasn’t harmed. “Where’s Tinkerbelle? She should be here by now.” Clarisse said. “Hmm, we should probably look for her. Before she kills herself or something.” I told them. We all agreed, and as soon as we were all changed we started searching for her. While we’re walking aimlessly around, probably never going to find her anyway, I should tell you about our weird nicknames. So at a sleepover we had a few years, not actually that many but you get the gist, ago we decided we would all become characters and have to do make-up for it. So, Clarisse was a Waterfall, because her hair is the same colour it is now and her eyes looked like the colour of moss. Amelie was a celebrity, because she is drop dead gorgeous and had that aura about her that was just like ‘look at me, I fabulous’, so we called her Witherspoon. Elysse was Dracula, because she can be dead set creepy sometimes and she is pale with dark hair and eyes. Codie was Tinkerbelle because she looks like a pixie, with her perfect blue eyes and perfect god damn dark blonde hair. I apparently looked like a hooker, and I was apparently smart. So I was a book hooker. A Booker. So, now that’s explained, I shouldn't have to do it again. We went to the garage, and she wasn’t there, so we went to the car park next. “What is your car doing here?” Elysse asked. “Uh, Mum” I could tell she was lying, but I wanted to see where this was going. Her nodding her head when she said it, gave her lies away. “Why did she come here?” Clarisse questioned. “I won my 100th race, why wouldn’t she come to watch my race?” I could see her starting to sweat. Give away number two. She looked backwards, into her car. I only just noticed she was sitting on the bonnet of the fluorescent blue Ferrari. “She doesn’t like you racing though.” Amelie spoke up this time. “Again, it is my 100th straight win. Too big a milestone to miss… bro.” okay, she’s nodding her head, sweating and now calling us ‘bro’. She is definitely lying. I still wanted to know where she was going with this story. “Why did she take your car? And why hasn’t she said hello yet?” Amelie asked another question. “She took my car because hers sounded funny, and she hasn’t said hello yet because she’s really tired, and she might have the flu.” She turned to face the windshield. “She might wave though.” A hand came out of the window and disappeared. I wasn’t sure, but that looked like a man’s hand. “I think I might have to drive her home because she’s really weak, see ya later guys. Bring the car out tomorrow, after you fix the gearbox, kay?” she looked at me desperately. I know she would explain later. “Let’s go guys” I said to the group as I hit their arses and shoved them to leave. We had the best connection, she understood me, I understood her. We got in the truck and disappeared. Codie has some serious explaining to do. It will happen soon. Or else.
