Melanie’s POV

“Melanie!” I heard Miss Cindy shout. “It’s time; you need to get packed.”

“Coming,” I shouted back, closing my sketchbook and tucking it securely in the front pocket of my backpack.

“Melanie,” Melody said as she came into the room that we shared. “I’m going to miss you.”

“I know,” I half smile. “I’m going to miss you too!”

“You know,” She laughed. “I heard that you’re new ‘Foster Dad’ is really hot.”

“Is that so?” I mused and she nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Wish me luck!” I exclaimed as I zipped up my suitcase and through my backpack over my shoulder.

“Good luck,” Melody smiled, revealing her perfect teeth. “But it’s not like you’ll need it.”

She pulled me into her side and we hugged briefly before pulling away.

“Ta, ta, darling! Tell the others that I said goodbye!” I cried in my best imitation of a British accent.

“Bye.” She waved as I left the room.

I held a tight grip on my suitcase as I rolled it behind me. My nerves kicked in as I inched closer and closer to the front office.

This what it. I was going to meet my adoptive father.

I walked shakily into the office.

Miss Cindy was talking to a tall man, but his back was to me so I couldn’t get a good look at him.

She noticed me and smiled reassuringly.

“Oh look who finally decided to show!” she exclaimed, causing the tall man to turn around.

My breath caught my throat as I stared up at him.

He had green eyes and a mop of messy brown locks.

He was smiling down at me, with those beau-

I can’t be attracted to my adoptive father!! That’s just weird!!

He took a step forward.

“Hello, love. You must be Melanie,” He smiled lightly, warming my heart. “I’m Harry. Harry Styles.”
