Envy (Niall Horan) [BOOK 1]

Niall's POV
"Excuse me sir." I hear someone say while shaking me.
I yawn and open my eyes slowly to see an elderly woman in a maid's outfit standing in front of me.
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave. It's really late and I have to lock this room up." She states.
I rub my left eye and I take out my phone to check the time.
It's one in the morning. I glance to the right and I see how Eli's head is rested on my shoulder and her left hand is intertwined with my right. I stare at her for a while and smile.
"Is that your girlfriend?" The woman asks.
I nod my head.
"Ya, she is." I reply, smiling even bigger. Eli is now my girlfriend.
"Well you better wake her up now and leave, before we all get in trouble with my boss."
I nod and put my phone back in my pocket. I let go of Eli's hand slowly, I stand up, and I bend down to carry her sleeping body. I don't want to wake her. I then stare down at the present that's on the floor.
"Do you mind picking that up fo-" I begin to say to the lady.
"Don't worry son, I got it." The cleaning woman says while picking up the present and placing it on Eli's lap.
"Thanks."
"No problem. Take care." She comments.
"You too." I reply while walking out with Eli and the present in my arms.
I walk down the hall slowly, not wanting to wake Eli up.
I look at the numbers of each room, trying to find my room number. Ya, mine. As in only mine. Since me and the lads have gotten more popular, we're now able to afford our own rooms so we don't have to share.
"Two thirty-one...Two thirty-two...Here we are. Room two thirty-three."
I quickly carry Eli in my left arm only and I take out my room key from my pocket.
I unlock the door and close it behind me, once I walk in.
I walk to my bed and I place Eli slowly and softly on it. I grab the present from her lap, I place it on one of the mini couches in the room, and I sit beside it.
The small couch is against the wall that is in front of the bed, so I can see Eli easily.
I begin to just observe her. She's so peaceful when she sleeps. I wonder what she's dreaming about. All I know is that, all I'm going to be thinking about for a long time is what happened tonight...Her confession, our first kiss, the fact that she's now my girlfriend... I've never felt happier. I sigh.
She thought I forgot about her... She thought I didn't even remember her name... Ever since I met Mike and Ricky at the bar that day, they became my buddies. They have a lot of connections with powerful people, especially the ones that know how to party. Whenever I would try to talk to Eli, or go to her room, they would stop me and drag me to another party. I guess I'm just a push over like that. Not anymore though. After tonight, Eli is my priority and I'll never let her feel forgotten again. Never.
I glance at her sleeping body again and I see how she's shivering. She's cold. I quickly get up and I walk up to her. I pull the blankets from under her body and I put it on top of her. I would've taken her to her room, but I don't remember what her room number is, and I don't know if Eli has the key for her room or not.
At least she's warm now. I bend down and I kiss the top of her head.
"I love you." I whisper.
I turn around and begin to walk back to the couch.
"I love you too." I hear her reply from behind me.
I turn back around and see how she's now sitting up.
"Shhh go back to sleep. You need to rest." I state while walking back to her.
She grabs my hand and begins to rub it with her thumb softly.
"How can I, after tonight." She whispers while looking into my eyes.
I stare back at hers intently, not saying a word. Her eyes then widen and she lets go of my hand.
"I wasn't dreaming was I? I'm sorry I-"
I interrupt her by kissing her lips softly. I feel my stomach begin to twist and turn.
She pulls away and smiles at me while blushing furiously. I love how I can make her blush.
"I guess it wasn't a dream." She jokingly says.
I chuckle and I grab her hand. I kiss each of her fingers before tangling ours together.
She begins to chuckle.
"What?" I ask while smiling.
"Don't laugh at me, but you we're kinda my first kiss." She states while putting a pillow in front of her face.
She's never kissed anyone... That means she never kissed Harry.
I take the pillow out of her hand and I sit down next to her. She blushes and looks away from me.
I grab her hand and she slowly turns her head back to me. She's obviously embarrassed.
"I love you so much." I whisper.
Her worry and embarrassment disappears from her face. She then leans in and wraps her arms around me, nuzzling her head into my chest.
"I love you more." She says.
I wrap my arms around her and I kiss the top of her head.
When we both let go, she yawns loudly.
"Someone's tired." I say while chuckling.
She rubs her eyes and smiles.
"No I'm not. Why don't we stay up all night?"
I kiss her cheek softly.
"Maybe another day princess. You should sleep now." I whisper.
She nods.
"Only if you sleep with me." She states.
I smile and I lay down next to her.
I wish it could be like this forever.
Hours later
I feel my face being covered in kisses.
I groan.
"Wake up sleepy head." I hear my girlfriend say.
I slowly open my eyes and I see Eli standing right next to me, wearing one of my white shirts and boxers.
My shirt is too big for her and my boxers are up to her knees. Her hair is down, framing her face and the light from the window is hitting her, making her look angelic looking. Wow. She is beautiful.
She notices how I'm looking at her clothes and she blushes.
"I hope you don't mind. I took a quick shower and I kinda put on your clothes."
I sit up and I grab her waist to pull her closer to me.
I give her a quick peck on the lips.
"I don't mind. You look good in my clothes."
She giggles and gets out of the bed.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"I have a surprise for you." She says while holding something behind her back.
She then walks back to me while smiling big.
"I know it's last minute, but Happy Birthday." She comments while handing me the wrapped gift that she gave me last night.
"You never opened it, but now you can." She says while smiling.
I tap the spot next to me in my bed and she sits next to me.
"To be honest, I didn't even know it was my birthday yesterday, until you told me."
"No one remembered?" She asks.
I shake my head slowly.
She scoots closer to me and wraps her arms around my neck.
"I'm so sorry Ni." She whispers a little saddened.
"Don't worry, like I said before, I didn't even remember myself. Anyways yesterday was the best birthday ever because I finally got what I've been wanting for so long."
She smiles and kisses my cheek.
God, I love her.
"Now open." She says while motioning me to open the present.
I nod and begin to un wrap the nice, shiny purple paper.
I feel my lips part at the sight of the guitar pick.
"If you don't like it, You can return it an-"
"I adore it." I interrupt her.
Her smile grows big again which causes me to smile.
"You're my sunflower Ni. You're so important to me...you don't understand."
I place my lips against hers and I savor it. Her soft, smooth lips that taste like strawberries are fit into mine perfectly. It's a perfect match. I don't know why, but whenever I kiss her, I feel electricity bolt through my body and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's so intense.
She pulls away and kisses the tip of my nose.
We both begin to breathe heavily.
"I think there are more fireworks in this room right now, than there are on New Year's Eve." I whisper.
"I think so too." She replies.
We both then begin to laugh.
"We're going to be one of those 'cheesy' couples, aren't we?" She says while grinning.
"I hope so... I really enjoy kissing you." I reply.
Her cheeks turn pink.
"I also enjoy making you blush."
She blushes even more.
"I'm not blushing." She defends.
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes. I make you blush. Admit it." I teasingly say.
"You can't make me blush Ni." She sates while smiling.
"Oh really?" I reply while leaning closer to her.
She raises one eyebrow.
I put my mouth close to her ear.
"You looked really hot that day at the pool in your bathing suit." I whisper.
I see her shake a little and she bites her lip.
When I move my head back, I see how she's completely red.
"You're mean, you know." She states.
"Ya, but you love me."
"Ya, but you love me too."
"But you love me more. Remember?"
"I take it back." She says, trying to hold in her laughter.
I then peck her lips softly.
"Fine. I don't take it back." She states while pulling me in for another kiss.
KNOCK KNOCK
"I think someone's at your door." She comments.
"They can wait. I'm busy." I reply while pecking her lips again.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Niall open the door!" I hear Louis say from outside the room.
"Go. I'll still be here." She retorts.
I groan and I get up to open the door.
"What do you want?" I say annoyed.
"Well hello to you too." Louis replies.
I roll my eyes and wait for him to continue.
"Did you know that yesterday was your birthday?" he says.
"No, I didn't. It was just the day I was born and all. Nothing special." I reply.
"Well us, the worst friends in the world, forgot and were here to make it up to you."
"Wait us?"
I then see Zayn, Liam, and Harry walk up to Louis.
Zayn is holding a cake, Liam is holding a box of pizza, and Harry is holding a bunch of video games.
Oh no. Eli is in my room, in my clothes, in my bed.
"Um, why don't we do this later lads? I'm kind of tired." I reply nervously.
"You can't still be tired. It's four in the afternoon." Liam says.
Shit. It's four already?
"Ya you know, a party animal like me needs its rest."
Zayn raises an eyebrow.
"Party animal? First, never say that again, and second, what are you hiding." Louis asks.
I begin to laugh nervously.
"Why don't we just hang out in Harry's room or something? I mean my room is a mess right now."
They all look at each other and nod.
"We're going in." Louis comments while they all push me inside my room.
"Guys no."
Harry closes the door behind him and they all walk in.
Eli is sitting in my bed under the covers, blushing hard.
"Um hi." She shyly states.
They all turn their heads to me with their mouths wide open.
"Finally!" Louis screams out, while the others begin to clap.
Zayn then takes out his wallet and hands Louis money.
Oh my gosh. This is probably one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.
"Did you and Eli.. you know..." Harry begins.
"No!!!" Me and Eli state in unison.
Make that the most embarrassing moment of my life.
I'm never going to live this down.
As the boys continue to congratulate me and Eli, I am as red as a tomato.
"So when did this bugger finally gain the balls to ask you out?" Zayn asks Eli.
Eli laughs and smiles.
"Well, last night actually." She replies.
"It looks like someone had a good birthday after all mate." Louis states while patting me on the back.
I'm going to kill him later.
"Well enough with the gossip, let's play some Fifa!" Harry adds.
Harry walks to the game console and puts in the game.
Zayn and Liam put the food down on a table and then they all sit down on the floor.
As I'm about to join them, I notice how Eli is out of the bed and is picking up her clothes.
"Where are you going?" I ask, walking up to her.
She looks down at the floor.
"I don't want to bother you guys." She retorts.
I get her clothes and I throw them on the floor.
"What wa-"
"You're staying." I command.
"But Ni I-"
"It's my birthday week, which means that I get what I want, and what I want is for you to stay here."
She gives me a soft smile and she kisses my cheek.
"Okay." She replies.
I then hug her and I kiss the top of her head.
"AWWWWEEEEE!" all the boys say in unison.
Eli let's go and walks up to them.
"Someone give me a controller. All of you are going down." She says confidently.
"Do what the woman says." Liam states.
The rest of the day consisted of my girlfriend creaming my best friends in Fifa, movies, and cake, and I must say, that this was truly the best birthday ever.
