Envy (Niall Horan) [BOOK 1]

ELIS POV
"Eli wake up sweetie."
I feel someone begin to shake me.
"Oh Eli."
I open my eyes slowly and begin to yawn. I notice how the person shaking me was no other than Lou and little Lux.
I smile at the sight of the adorable smiling little girl in front of me. Since I'm apart of the 1D crew, I have to stay in the tour bus for the crew. The tour bus is really big. There are three bunk beds, two couches, a bathroom, a mini kitchen, and an amazing radio with a great sound system. Lou is a part of the crew as well of course. Thank God! I only have met Lou once, but now we're growing closer as friends. Her daughter is the most adorable little girl I've ever seen. The boys and I love playing with her. She's just so innocent and tiny.
I sit up and begin to rub my eyes. I look at Lux and a smile automatically spreads on my face.
"Good morning Lux!" I say in a baby playish voice.
She smiles and Lou grabs her hand and waves it for her.
"Hi Eli. Say hi Eli." Lou says in a baby playish voice too.
Lou and I both then laugh as Lux walks away.
"Lux says hi." She comments.
I chuckle.
"I can see that. Now why did you wake me up so early?"
"We're here in Virginia! We're at the hotel now and we have to unload our things. Also,
Simon told me to tell you that your job starts right now and to give you this."
She hands me a piece of paper that has all the account's usernames and passwords. I then look back at her confused.
"Thanks and why are we at a hotel? I ask.
She chuckles obviously thinking I was trying to joke around, but then becomes serious.
"Wait are you serious?" She asks.
"Um kinda..."
"Well Eli, silly we're not gonna stay in the tour busses all the time! When we get to a state so they can perform, we stay at a hotel there for a few days."
"Oh... Sorry I feel a little embarrassed.." I honestly reply.
"Don't feel embarrassed love, it is your first time on tour so I understand."
"Ya... I think I'm going to call my friend to let her know that I'm here."
She nods and walks off the tour bus.
I take out my phone and see how I got a text from Harry.
From: Deep voice
I can't help but laugh at his new contact name. He changed it on my phone again. Oh that child.
I open the text and begin to read it.
From: Deep voice
Morning babe <3 Can't wait to see you
I feel myself smile like an idiot and I respond.
To: Deep voice
Mornin <33 and see you there ;)
I still can't believe that I have a boyfriend. Even though we became a couple a little too fast...well a lot fast, I really like him. I think Niall's still not used to it yet, but I know he will be soon. Our new relationship hasn't gone public yet. I hope the fans like me.
I then notice my phone screen light up and I see how I just received a text from Niall.

Morninggg! Wanna get breakfast together?
I respond.
To: Eli's favorite person in the world
Ya sure! I'll text Harry about it now so he can join us :DD
While waiting for Niall to reply, I call Sofy.
"Hey!" I hear her say.
"Hi!! I just wanted to let you know that we're in Virginia now at a hotel."
"That sounds so cool. How's the boyfriend doing?"
"He's fine. I can't believe I get to be on tour with him and Niall."
"You just have to tell me!"
"Tell you what?"
"How jealous Niall is duh!"
"What do you mean?" I ask
"Eli, it's kind of obvious that Niall likes you more than a friend."
"What are you talking about? Sofy stop lying to me. We're only friends and that's it."
"Ya sure. Try telling that to Niall."
"I gotta go Sofy. Talk to you later..."
"Okay see ya! Take lots of pictures."
I then hang up. I hate it when she makes up lies about Niall. It annoys me.
I then notice how Niall texted back.
From: Eli's favorite person in the world
Oh ok. Sounds great. See you in a few.
I put my phone away, slide into my wheel chair and head out to the hotel.
At breakfast
Right now Harry, Niall, and I are at the hotel's restaurant eating breakfast together.
"What are you going to order babe?" Harry asks with his eyes still glued on his menu.
"Hmm I think I'm going to have Toast and jam." I respond.
Niall puts his menu down and looks at me confused.
"Toast and Jam, that's it? You do know they have chocolate chip pancakes right?"
I really want pancakes right now, but I don't want Harry to see me eat a lot.
Harry glances over at me waiting for my response.
"I'm fine with toast and jam." I state.
I glance at Niall who is just observing me intently.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing it's just that there are things in this hotel that I've never seen before. That are new and different." He retorts.
I know Niall is referring to my lack of appetite so I just ignore him.

"Oh my gosh that was delicious." Harry comments.
Harry just finished his plate of eggs, sausage, ham, and biscuits.
"How's your food Niall?" I ask.
Niall just mumbles while he's chewing a piece of toast.
I can't help but laugh which causes Harry to laugh as well.
"I think he likes it." Harry states with a smile.
Harry then turns to me.
"How was your food?" he asks.
"It was tasty! I'm so stuffed."
I'm starving.
I glance at Niall who is staring at me once again but this time he looks concerned.
"I almost forgot guys! Bunch together so I can take a picture of you two and post it on twitter."
Harry scoots his chair closer to Niall and they both smile.
"Got it." I say while posting the tweet through Niall's account.
I captioned the picture "Having my first breakfast in Virginia with @Harry_Styles"
I then put my phone back in my pocket and Harry scoots back to me.
"So are you guys gonna go on a date tonight or what?" Nialls asks.
I don't even know. I glance at Harry.
"Well I was thinking that after rehearsal today Eli and I might go to a restaurant or go watch a movie." Harry replies.
"Sounds great." I comment while looking at Harry.
Harry then turns to me and kisses my fore head.
Niall looks down at his hands and then back up.
"Oh well I hope you guys have fun." He says.
Nialls POV
"Oh well I hope you guys have fun."
Wow my acting is really improving day by day.
The more I'm with them, the more I'm seeing how un right they are for each other. I was wrong. I mean Eli isn't even comfortable enough with him to eat normally. I can tell she's still hungry. She was staring at my food like she wanted to stuff it down right there.
I hope she begins to eat normally. I don't want her to starve herself just because she doesn't want to seem like a pig around Harry. Even though she never eats like one in the first place. Harry should know! I mean he is her boyfriend. He should know that she was obviously lying.
Whatever I guess.
They are going to go on a date later on today and that's when my plan is going to start. Ya I have a plan. I'm going to try to get Eli to hang out with me more than Harry. I know it sounds wrong and breaks bro code, but I need her. I really hope this works.
Hours later
We're back at the hotel and we just came back from rehearsal. Harry is getting ready to go see a movie with Eli. Ya they decided to see a movie instead of going to a restaurant.
"How do I look?" Harry asks.
"Fine." I reply.
Harry's wearing a Pink Floyd T shirt with dark jeans and black converse.
"What movie are you two going to see?" I ask.
"Oh, just a new romantic one that just got released. Eli wanted to see it."
"Cool. You two have fun. Watch out with fans."
"Security is coming with us, so we'll be fine. Thanks." He replies.
He waves good bye and walks out the room.
I quickly get out my phone to text Eli. I changed her contact name.
To: Ms. Sunflower
Hey, want to hang out tonight?
I send it and wait.
BUZZ BUZZ
My phone vibrates.
From: Ms. Sunflower
Hey, sorry but I already have plans with Harry :(
I reply back.
To: Ms. Sunflower
Oh it's ok.. It's just that we haven't hung out just us in a while... It's fine I guess another time.. Have fun with Harry.
I kind of feel bad making her feel guilty...

I guess me and Harry can watch the movie another day. You're right, we haven't hung out just us in a long time. I'll cancel with Harry and me and you can have our own movie night on my laptop in my room. :) There will be popcorn :)))
I can't help but smile. It actually worked. Oh no Harry's going to be freaking pissed with me though... Whatever.

My plan might actually work...
Two Weeks Later
My plan has been working out perfectly.
I would let them go on some dates by themselves, so they wouldn't get suspicious. Every time I told Eli that I wanted to hang out with her though, she would cancel the date with Harry and hang out with me instead. Or she would just invite me along with them to where ever they were going.
Surprisingly, Harry hasn't caught on to my plan. Eli doesn't want him to get mad at me, so whenever she chooses to hang out with me, she usually lies to Harry by telling him that she's sick or she has to babysit Lux.
We're in a hotel in Dallas, Texas right now and Zayn, Harry, and I are getting dressed to go to a radio interview. I decide that maybe I can use this chance to ask Harry some questions.
"So Harry if you don't mind me asking how was you and Eli's first kiss?" I ask while putting on my white v-neck shirt.
"Well um... it kind of hasn't happened yet." He replies from the bathroom.
"You haven't kissed her yet mate? Why?" Zayn asks.
"I've tried trust me, but she always stops me." Harry states.
I can't help but chuckle a little at his response. Is he for real?
"Do you know why?" I ask.
"Well she told me that she's saving her first kiss for someone she knows she loves." He replies a little saddened.
"Wait Eli hasn't had her first kiss yet?" I ask instantly which causes me to blush.
"You're her best friend, you should know, especially since you've been hanging out with her a lot more." Harry replies coldly.
"What do you mean?" I ask nervously.
Shit I think he does know.
"You already know what I mean, so I don't have to explain myself."
Zayn looks uncomfortable in the situation.
"I think I'm going to go check on Liam and Louis." He says awkwardly while walking out of the room.
"Harry I don't know what you're talking abo-"
"Stop right there Niall. Stop acting. I know what you have been doing and I want you to know that it's going to stop. I've backed down and played nice for long enough. I'm done."
He states looking at me seriously.
Ya he knows.
"What do you mean it's going to stop?"
An evil grin is plastered on his face and he laughs a little.
He then begins to walk to the door.
"What are you gonna do Harry?" I ask nervously.
"We got to go to the interview, or we'll be late." He simply retorts.
I go in front of the door and block him from leaving.
Now I'm the one that's mad.
"What are you going to do?" I ask while raising my voice.
He smiles even bigger and moves his head to my ear.
"I'm going to kiss her, and this time I know she isn't going to back away." He whispers.
He then moves his head back, and his smile fades.
"Now get out of my way." He says while moving me to the side.
Harry then leaves me alone in the room, leaving me speechless.

Hours Later
The whole concert was very distracting for me. The whole time, Harry kept on smiling and winking at me whenever he said the word kiss.
I just wanted to slap his stupid smile off his face, but I couldn't do that in front of the fans.
Eli was backstage with the rest of the crew, watching the show. I wanted to bring her out, but A. She would kill me because she is extremely shy, B. Simon would kill me, and C. The fans would kill Eli. So that wouldn't be a very smart idea...
Every time I looked at her during the concert, her smile was so big and wide. I can tell she's proud of me...and Harry. Out of all the girls in the stadium, she was the most noticeable....the most amazing.. Not just because I can only see the first two rows in front of me, due to the spotlights, but because I know that no one can compare to her.
I really wish she was mine, but after what Harry is going to do tonight... she's never going back. I know it.
We're all back at the hotel now. Louis and Liam are with me in me, Zayn, and Harry's room. Zayn is hanging out with his girlfriend Perrie, who decided to visit him and Harry I'm guessing is with Eli...
I'm in my bed scrolling through my phone at all the tweets, Eli has tweeted as me. They all sound like things I would say. I chuckle to myself at some of them, but then sigh. If she knows me so well, how does she not notice how much her and Harry's relationship is killing me...
I grab the pillow from behind my head and slam it on my face and I just groan.
"What's wrong Niall?" I hear Liam ask from the bed next to me.
"Everything." I mumble into the pillow.
"Does it have to do with Harry and Eli?" he asks.
I quickly take the pillow off my face and I throw it at Louis who is watching TV on the floor.
"OW!" He yells.
"You told Liam?!" I scream with my cheeks burning red.
"No I didn't!" He responds.
"Then how does h-"
"It's kind of obvious you fancy her mate." Liam replies.
Does everyone know? Am I that obvious?
I sigh.
"So what's wrong? Did Harry do something?" Liam asks.
I look down and begin to fiddle with my fingers.
"He's gonna kiss Eli today... He probably already has." I retort sadly.
"Why do you care so much?" Louis asks.
"Like Liam said, I fancy her. I fancy her a lot and I wanted to be her first kiss... I want to be the one she's in love with."
"Don't just sit around here torturing yourself. Go find out. Like I told you before, you have to fight for what you want." Louis states.
"Ya Niall, she might've not even kissed Harry. You should go talk to her and see." Liam adds.
I sigh again.
"Maybe you two are right. I'm gonna go find out."
I wave to them and walk out of the room.
Eli and Lou's room is three rooms away. I feel so nervous... What if she's not even in her room?
I guess I'm going to find out.
As I'm getting closer, I see how her room door is slightly open and I hear voices.
I walk next to the door silently and I peek through the opening and try to eaves drop.
It's Harry and Eli. There in the middle of her room just talking...
Since, she doesn't need her wheel chair anymore, she's standing in front of him looking deeply into his eyes. It's killing me.
"You and Niall did great out there." I hear Eli's voice say.
"Thanks babe. Did you have fun?" Harry asks.
She nods.
"Now what did you want to tell me?" she innocently asks.
I then see Harry grab both of her hands.
"Eli I know we kind of moved fast into this relationship and all, but I just want you to know that my feelings for you are strong and real." He begins.
"Mine too." She whispers.
I feel like someone just kicked me in the gut.
"After tonight, I realized something." He begins to lower his face to her ear.
"I love you sweetheart." He says.
He then moves his face back a little, and their noses are touching. He begins to lean in closer as she is stiff as a board, with her eyes wide, staring at him. Their lips are centimeters from touching and I won't stand to see the rest.
I just run. I run and run and I don't look back. I guess that's what heartbreak does to a person. It just makes you want to run.
