Once upon a time... Oh, who am I kidding.

Emma had never known her mother. She had never known her father. They might as well have been dead. Maybe they were.

Emma was thrown into the family of her stepmother. Emma's stepmother had two daughters, each near the age of Emma.

As Emma grew older, her stepmother slowly revealed her true nature. Cold, cruel, and bitterly jealous of Emma's charm and beauty, she was grimly determined to forward the interests of her own two daughters. Thus, as time went by, the money that had been saved was wasted on the vain and selfish stepsisters while Emma was abused, humiliated, and finally forced to become a slave in her own house.

No longer the open girl she used to be, Emma distrusted people. Everyone. Even herself.

Somehow, she managed to give Prince Charming a chance.
