Memory Filled Adventures

Chapter 21: Good News

Harry’s POV

(2 Weeks Later-Back Home)

“~I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I’m the only one and I walk alone~” I sang along to the music streaming in my ears while I danced around the kitchen, putting the groceries away. Standing on my toes, I reached up to put the cereal on the topshel. I rolled back onto the balls of my feet and spun around, started to find Louis sitting on the counter with an amused smile on his face.

“Holy crap!” I ripped my headphones out while I stared at him.

“Well hello to you too.” Louis’s voice was teasing as he slid off the counter. “I have good news for you.”

His hands slipped into his hoodie pocket, fumbling for something but his hands stopped when footsteps were heard trotting down the staircase. Our eyes looked to the doorway where Sage appeared in her work uniform. My eyes automatically glanced at her body before meeting her hazel eyes that showed confusion.

“Good morning beautiful.” The rasp in my voice started her.

“Morning.” She mumbled stepping between Louis and I on her way to the refridgerator.

We watched her stumble over the bagged groceries on the counter. I grabbed one of her travel mugs from the cabinet before walking to the coffee pot. Nobody said anything while I helped her get ready for work. After I filled the mug with hot coffee and put the lid on, I set it next to her purse that was laid on the counter. I leaned my right hip against the counter until she walked over to me with a poptart. She tossed it onto her bag and set her hands on the countertop with a sigh. My body was next to her when I gestured for Louis to leave. Once he was gone, I stepped behind her and massaged her back lightly.

“You alright?” I asked quietly as she shook her head and turned around with tears in her eyes. “What is it?” I cupped her cheeks gently.

“It’s just one of those days.” A tear escaped from her eye and ran down her cheek as she shrugged; my thumb wiped away the tear when they met.

I let go of her cheeks and pulled her into my chest, wrapped my arms around her petite body. She sniffled while holding my waist. I knew there was no way to make her feel better so I stuck with holding her for a few more minutes.

“I’m sorry baby.” I said as her breathing eased. “Just remember that she’s always with you.”

I felt her nod against my chest before taking a deep breath and pulling away from me. Our eyes met as my hands toched her cheeks; my thumbs wiped the tears that stained her cheeks.

“I have to go.” She pointed to the clock with a frown.

“Okay.” I leaned forward, pressing my lips to her forehead. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She whispered hooking her fingers behind my neck, pulling me down gently.

Our lips met quickly before we pulled back, the taste of her lips lingered momentarily until our lips touched again. I gripped her forearms lightly and pulled them away, our lips parting too.

“I love you and I know you're having a crappy morning but if you don’t leave now, you’ll be late.” I regreted saying those words as they left my mouth, I didn't want her to go.

“Okay, I’ll see you later.” She picked up her stuff, pecked my cheeks and left in a better mood than when she came downstairs.

I leaned my back against the hard surface of the counter while rubbing my eyes, footsteps pulled me from my thoughts. My eyes landed on Louis, he looked shy and his hair was extremely fluffy.

“She okay?” He asked walked further into the kitchen as I shrugged. “Oh, well I have something to show you.”

He reached into his pocket again and pulled out his phone. I watched him unlock it and scroll before handing it to me. On the screen were a few silver-banded rings.

“Wha- Where’d you find these?” I gasped.

“The little jeweler on Maine.” He answered with an eager smile.

“These are great but…My mom gave me a ring when I told her about my plan.” I glanced at the screen then handed it back. “But thank you.”

“You're welcome, can I see the ring?” He sounded really happy still.

I pulled the ring box from my pocket and handed it to him. When he opened it, a smile pushed on his cheeks.

“That’s perfect!”

“Thanks. Is everything set up for tomorrow?” I asked, making my stomach go crazy.

“Yep.”
