Chapter 22: Popping the Question
No One’s POV
Sage jogged down the stairs quietly as to not wake any of the sleeping guys but was started by the sight of Niall and Louis eating breakfast together at the table. They gave her acknowledging nods before she turned to the kitchen. Louis and Niall’s eyes met and they shared a secretive smile as they tried to hold back laughter. She suspected nothing while pouring herself coffee in her favorite mug. She took the empty seat next to Louis. Her hands played with the mug, spinning it to make the coffee swirl. Niall cleared his throat and looked at Louis before looking into Sage’s eyes.
“So, what’re you doing today?” Niall asked, hiding the secret very well in his sweet voice.
“No clue.” She shrugged and turned to the laughter behind her.
Liam came into sight first with Zayn and Harry following, all the guys shared a look of understanding. Harry walked to Sage’s side and kissed her lips lightly before taking a seat.
“So I have a question for everyone.” Harry took a deep breath to look convincing. “Can we throw a party tonight.
“Sure ?” Said said questioningly as all the guys nodded. “Why’re you asking so weirdly?”
“I don’t know just making sure it’s okay.” He was a great liar.
“Well, I have no issue with it.” Sage picked up her coffee as she spoke, taking a sip when she was done.
“Sweet!” Harry cheered to himself. “Louis and Zayn, will you guys be in charge of food?” They nodded. “Sage, will you go with Niall to get decorations while Liam and I clean?”
“Yea, sure.” She nodded. “Anything else?”
“Nope.” Harry shook his head as everyone stood up.
Harry stood up too and caught Sages hand before she left. He pulled her toward his body, snaking his arm around her waist while entwining his fingers with hers. They looked into each others eyes before they leaned in for a kiss. When they pulled away, Sage touched his chin lightly and smiled.
“I love you Sage.” Harry’s voice was raspy and low.
“I love you too.” No matter how many times she said it, her cheeks flushed every time.
Harry pecked her cheek and reluctantly let go of her.
Sage’s POV
I danced around my room trying to find a nice outfit to wear tonight but I couldn’t. A smile pushed only my cheeks when I pulled my favorite jeans out of my drawer, happy to see that they were clean. I picked them up and threw them onto my unmade bed as someone knocked on my door.
“Who is it?” I asked touching my bare stomach.
“Cleo” Her voice always sounded melodic to me.
“Come in.” I turned to face the door as it opened.
She stepped in quickly and shut the door. Her slim figure was always complimented by her curve-accentuating clothes.
“Well doesn’t someone look sexy.” She laughed pointing to my lace set of bra and underwear I had on.
“I try.” I giggled posing like a model. “But seriously, I have no clue what to wear tonight.”
A smile crept onto her fare face as she darted for my closet. She turned around less that a minute later holding a peplum top wih cherries on it in one hand and a tan pair of Toms in the other.
“Put these on with your black jeans, let your hair down from the bun, put on a little makeup and you're set.” She seemed proud of her work.
“Thanks.” I mumbled picking up my jeans that were laid on the bed.
“You're welcome, now I’m gonna go help the guys because they suck at decorating.” She chuckled because the statement was true.
She turned to the door and left while I continued to dress.
The music was pounding through the house and made me want to move. I felt a hand land on my waist while I stood with Cleo. Instinctively, I turned around quickly to see Niall with a drunken smirk.
“Hey, have you seen Lauren?” His words were slurred but I understood.
“I saw her in the kitchen a few minutes ago.” The girl we were talking about was our next door neighbor, her and Niall flirted constantly.
“Thanks.” He kissed my cheek before walking away to the kitchen.
My eyes shifted to the stereo as the music was turned down. Harry was standing on the stairs next to the stereo, holding a microphone. He cleared his throat before raising it to his lips; everyone got quiet.
“Hi everybody, thanks for coming tonight its been very interesting.” We laughed. “But we’re all here for a reason. Hey Sage, will you come up here please?” His voice was strong as everyone looked at me; his arm extended toward me.
With a sigh, I did. My hand met his, lacing our fingers absent-mindedly while I stood next to him.
“Well babe, these last 10 months have been amazing. Even through everything, we’ve stuck together. You're everything I’ve always dreamed of.” He let go of my hand, slipped his hand into his jacket, pulling out a small, square box and opening it as he knelt. “Sage, will you marry me?”
My jaw dropped as my cheeks flushed and everyone cooed. Harry had a nervous smile on his tanned face.
“Yes, of course.” Tears rushed to my eyes as his smile grew, showing his beautiful dimples.
Everyone watching cheered while Harry stood and wrapped his arms around my body, pulling me into his chest. My arms clung to his neck as tears slipped from my eyes. When we let go of each other, he took the ring from its box and gracefully slid it onto my left ring finger. I looked at it, making more tears fall as his hands cupped my cheeks.
“I love you so much.” He mumbled against my forehead before kissing me softly.
“I love you too Harry, I cant imagine my life without you.” My words were quiet and muffled by the lump in my throat.
“You never need to, I’m never going to leave.” He looked into my eyes and we leaned in to share our first kiss as an engaged couple.
