TWO GHOSTS

Chapter Seven / Sit On My Lap.

Your eye lids fluttered open, just to be burned by the sun which poured in through the open blinds by your bed. You sat up quickly, rubbing your eyes with a huge yawn. The soft guitar playing from the living room can be heard. You stretched, making your way off the bed. A soft whine escaped you as your head throbbed and ached. The movements you were making were slow, zombie-like. Down the hallway, into the kitchen. You begged weakly to Harry who had his fingers grazing along his guitar chords, "Please stop. My head is killing me."

You caught a small smile from him.

Your eyes scanned a cupboard, looking through the medicine for aspirin. Harry's voice rung in your ears, "You slept in."

You pulled out the aspirin, plopping it into a glass of water. You grunted, "What time is it?"

"Past noon." Harry said, setting his guitar aside. He watched you make your way beside him on the couch, glass in hand. You leaned your head back and hesitated to ask, "What happened last night?" It was a question you knew the answer to, you hadn't forgotten. But what would Harry admit?

Harry looked away, "Nothing important."

You looked at him as he grabbed his guitar again, adjusting it onto his lap. You understood why he didn't admit anything, but it still got under your skin for some reason. The only way you thought of cooling yourself down was by changing the subject, "The guitar is amazing, I wish I had learnt how to play."

Harry looked at you, finally giving away one of his smiles. He said, "You still can."

Before you knew it, he had adjusted it onto your lap. You looked at him before setting your glass on a small coffee table. Your fingertips grazed along the instrument before touching the strings. Harry said, "I'll show you a song I've been working on." His first technique was to point to each string you had to hold or strum, but it was difficult. Harry paused, "I can't teach you this way." Before you could suggest anything, he said, "Sit on my lap."

Your face burned, "Wh-what?"

Harry didn't bothered by the idea, only a slight taint of pink coming from his cheeks. He repeated less confidently, "Sit on my lap, so I can lead you easier."

He's your best friend, it's okay. It's not weird--right?

You moved your body, sitting inbetween his legs. You can feel his firm chest against your back, his belt buckle slightly nudging your lower back, and the imprint of his groin against his jeans pushing against you. He wasn't hard, but he wasn't soft either. Harry let out a soft sigh which brushed against your ear. He was so close to the side of your face, you couldn't turn your head.

Harry's hands overshadowed yours, leading your fingers. His large hands overpowered yours, but the technique was working. He hummed the lyrics to the chords you and him played, but you heard some of the words slip out, "...don't know where we're going...we know where we belong..."

You caught yourself smiling to his voice, to the setting you were in. You repeated his words, even if you knew they weren't complete sentences, "...don't know where we're going...we know where we belong..."

He was looking at you again, but this time it was with a blank expression. Harry murmured, "Sweet creature, we're running through the garden where nothing bothered us."

You echoed his words, letting your hands slip away from the guitar. He was still staring at you, but it seems his hands had taken over the strings. The chords strummed along his fingers as he sang more, "But we're still young, I always think about you and how we don't speak enough."

You grinned with pink cheeks, "I can't get enough of your voice, Harry."

Soon after he heard your words, he missed a chord, stopping completely. He set his guitar aside on the couch. You didn't turn to him, but you can still feel his stare. He didn't speak, nor did you. After a brief silent moment, you felt him tug on your collar shirt, exposing a part of your shoulder.

Harry kissed it.

While one exposed a part of you, the other laid on your waist. Harry kept kissing up to your neck, and you let him.

He stopped by your cheek, and his lustful eyes waited for you to look back at him.

But you didn't.

Instead, Harry let go of his grip of your shirt and slowly cupped the right side of your cheek. He turned your head so you met one another.

Again, silence.

His hand moved along your cheek, digging into the side of your hair. At the same time, you both leaned in and felt each other's lips. You weren't sure what had come over you, but you made it deeper, accepting whatever he was offering.

Harry led you to lay on the couch as he towered over your body. His hips stirring along with yours, his sloppy kisses along your lips and neck, and his hands digging into your hair and gripping onto your thighs. The imprint of his groin was more noticeable now, but you didn't say anything about it. You were stuck in an intense moment, reeled in like fish taking bait--except, the bait was him. He didn't need to do anything, say anything.

Just when you felt yourself tugging onto his belt, a wave of suppressed memories washed over you.

School dances were popular, but it also meant flowers and extreme measures to ask someone to go. As much as you were distant, for some reason you really liked dances. A night with nice music, getting dolled up, and realizing you wore the wrong kind of shoes to dance in. It amused you, and you were excited to go because Harry had agree to be your "date"!

You walked down the halls, looking for someone who was hard to find. Usually you'd find him wandering the hallways or sitting outside on a bench, but for some reason it was hard to find him this time.

You spotted a figure close to the exit door.

You smiled as you jogged over, expecting to catch a glimpse of his green eyes--you did, but there was also another pair. She and Harry stared at you, surprised by the swing of the doors where you exited from.

You scanned her quickly.

Pretty.

She was pretty.

Harry said softly to you, "Hold on a sec, okay (Y/N)?"

You nodded, pressing your binder up against your chest.

After the girl had left, Harry and you walked to his house. He talked on and on about how messy his room was, but you were only focused on who the hell that girl was.
You forgot that it would be the first time meeting his family and going to his house, all because of that damn girl who you had never seen before.

You both entered his house, walking down a hall. Harry glanced over to a shut door, "My brother is here-ya know, my twin."

"Oh. Ok." You were obviously out of it, but Harry hadn't questioned it.

Before Harry could open his door, the shut door down the hall swung open. He looked like a clone, but it was Tyler Styles, identical twin of Harry Styles.
Tyler looked at you, "Who're you?"

"
I'm (Y/N)."

Tyler paused but then smirked, "Are ya gonna fuck her Harry?"

Harry spat out, "Go back in your room you fucking twat."

Tyler chuckled, "Use protection."

"We're not gonna--ugh." Harry looked at you, "We'll hang out in the living room instead."

You nodded. Before following Harry, you took a glance at Tyler who was already staring at you.

You both sat in the living room, watching a few shows. You can hear scuffling in the kitchen, but it wasn't anything to be fixated on.
You finally spoke, "Who was that girl you were talking to?"

Tyler's voice came from the kitchen, "Oooooo, are ya cheating on (Y/N) Harry?"

"Mind your damn business." Harry said to Tyler before looking at you and saying, "It's just a girl I was talking to..."

You left it alone. You weren't sure why you felt a bit jealous. You can see how uncomfortable Harry was, so you tried lightening the mood, "
I was thinking for the dance we'd match clothing, just so we're more in sync." You chuckled, "We'd look weird but I think it'd be nice--"

"Yeah, I can't go." He said sternly.

You frowned, "Oh. Why?"

"I've got studies." Harry said, his eyes wandering.

You looked away, "Oh." You stood up from the couch, "It was a dumb idea to go anyway, waste of money-"

Harry snatched your hand, "Don't say that, I know you want to go."

"Then go with me." You said, your vision becoming blurry with tears.

Harry paused, "I can't."

You stared at him, "Harry--"

"I'll go with you."

You and Harry stared over at Tyler who was filling his cup with orange juice.

"Tyler that's not funny." Harry said.

"I'm serious." Tyler walked over to you, "
I'll go with you."

And he did. Tyler dressed up and took you to the dance. He wasn't much of a dancer, but he did keep you company. You had everything and you weren't alone. You had figured it was going to be a perfect night. Up until you saw...Harry...with that same girl. They were hand in hand and when Harry spotted you, he dropped her hand and tried walking past people to you. He looked upset--no, he only looked upset because he got caught.

You broke the kiss, urging Harry to get off of you.Harry looked surprised, "What's wrong-"

"You lied to me." You said as you got off the couch, "You said you were going to study but you were just afraid to tell me you found someone else better."

Harry looked confused, "What're you going on about?"

"The dance, Harry."

Harry rose a brow, "That was five years ago, babe--and we talked it out. Why are you bringing it up all of a sudden? We're over it, aren't we?"

"I was, but you said you liked me all along--if that's true why did you choose someone over me?"

Harry paused, "How do you know that?"

Shit.

Harry repeated himself as he got off the couch, "How did you know I said that?"

You looked down, "I...I wasn't asleep last night in the car."

Harry looked at you, he remembered his words. He remembered admitting how you were good for Tyler, but he wanted you all to himself. He remembered admitting he was falling for you.

Harry grabbed your hands, "I was young and dumb. I was afraid to ruin the friendship we had, so I pushed aside my feelings for you and went with someone instead." He kissed your hand, "But the way you looked at me once you saw me that night, it killed me."

"You told me that you only went with her because you felt bad for her...how do I know you won't lie to me again?"

"I was afraid to admit my feelings and ruin our friendship...but I'm not afraid anymore. I want you. And I don't want to hurt you."

You hadn't noticed, but you were in tears. You smiled, "So...you liked me for how long?"

"Remember the night when you complimented my song lyrics?"

"The first night we spent together."

"Since then." He smiled, making you burst into laughter as tears streamed down your face. You wiped your eyes, "Then it must've killed you when I dated Liam."

"I never wanted to murder a classmate so much." Harry chuckled.

You sniffled, "Those things...you said in the car last night, to Tyler...it was really mean."

"I was upset." Harry looked down, "He gets on my nerves so easily." Harry looked at you again, "I would never lie to you. So hear me when I say," He added in, "I'm the better twin." Harry kissed your gently, inching closer to you and deepening it.

Ugh, this is soo hard. Harry feels like home. He's warm, a sense of familiarity and warmth. The person that's been right under your nose all this time. But Tyler is exciting, butterfly inducing, like a first crush. He's the guy you know you should probably stay away from but want to know everything about. After this chapter I would say Harry but that school dance ordeal was hella messed up. I know I'd still be angry about it all those years later. Tyler is always there when Harry isn't which is sweet but I think he's more of an after thought to her(me) which will probably cause problems later on. It's like she's asking him to fill H's shoes when he can't be there which is a pretty lofty request and probably makes him feel even worse. Harry could very well be selfish, manipulative in expressing his feelings and Tyler could be genuine. Who knows. I can't say either of them is the better twin at this point. I think we should get to know more about Tyler first. I really wish this sibling rivalry between Harry and Tyler would end though because this "I'm the better twin" stuff is making it hard to choose!
