In The Dark

Kayla’s POV
“Why would you do that? I like him!” I shouted at Cassie and Brooke, getting up out of my bed to chase after Niall. Cassie gently pushed me back onto my bed.
“Ashlyn. We-we think she is in trouble” Brooke muttered, looking straight at me.
“What kind of trouble?”
I asked, completely forgetting all about Niall and focusing my attention on my best friends.
“I-I don’t know. She was acting all weird. Been avoiding us all day” Cassie told me, her eyes full of shame and regret. I can’t imagine what she must be going through. Brooke to. We have been friends for years, like two or three years was when Brooke came to school. She became friends with me and I introduced her to Ash and Cass, who both liked her instantly, Cassie taking a little more persuasion to let her into the group.
Cassie and I met about five years ago. We were friends, just us two but we weren’t like, best friends. Mainly because Cassie was always a bit of a loner. I think she is afraid of being hurt or something. Anyway, after a year Ashlyn came and I became friends with her but Cassie, again, took some persuasion. Then a year later Brooke came and we cane been a foursome ever since. Not that you perv. I took a moment to process everything.
“So Ashlyn really said that she didn’t wanna be friends anymore?”
I clarified, confused when Brooke and Cassie both nodded their heads.
“That’s really not like her. Maybe we should have a talk with her tomorrow?”
“Have a talk? That sounds like something that a parent would say” Cassie retorted.
“You know what I mean! Find out what is wrong with her?” I huffed.
“Sounds cool” Brooke agreed. Cassie nodded.
“Then it’s settled, now go away! They are releasing me soon and I need to pack and stuff” I shooed them out.
“See you tomorrow!” Brooke called over her shoulder, looking a lot more - happy then when she came in. Same with Cass. Now, if only I could find a way to get Niall to forgive me for not sticking up for him?
