In The Dark

Kayla’s POV
I am never coming back to hospital again. They leave the T.V on for my entertainment but don’t give me the remote so I can’t change the channel. Did you know that 1/3 Americans will get heart disease? and 70% of the grain we grow is fed to the animals that we eat for dinner? I don’t care either but I am stuck watching news shows that tell me shit like that. There is nothing to look at anywhere else in the room. The walls are plain white and there isn’t a single painting anywhere. The food in dry and stale and the water tastes like ice chips which is a bad thing.
You know that saying, “I was just sitting, twiddling my thumbs” which means you are bored but I was literally twiddling my thumbs because I didn’t know what else to do. Thank God I get out of this hell hole tonight. A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. Hoping it was Ashlyn or Brooke I looked to the door excitedly to see Niall standing there.
“Hey babe” he greeted, walking over to me.
“Hi” I replied. He kissed my forehead. I scooted over so he could sit down next to me and he did.
“How come you’re here?” I asked him
“I need an excuse to come see my girlfriend?” Yes, you heard that right everybody, Niall freaking Horan is my boyfriend. He asked me the first time he came to see me in the hospital on Sunday. I of course said yes and we have a date scheduled for next week. I do feel bad about not telling the girls about my first boyfriend. Especially since Brooke told us about her date with Connor which i think is in a few days? But anyway, i am not technically lying to them, it's a little white lie, which totally doesn't count as a actual lie.
“Why are you watching this shit?” Niall asked, referring to the T.V which was playing a panda documentary.
“I don’t have the remote” I sulked. Niall smiled then walked out of the room.
“Wait! Niall, come back” I called after him but it was no use, he already left. I jumped out of bed onto my strapped ankle and hobbled after him but ended up tripping over the plain white rug and falling onto my hands.
I struggled to get up but it was no use. Suddenly Niall came back in.
“Princess, what are you doing?” he asked, dropping to his knees in front of me and looking into my eyes.
“I thought you left” I muttered, looking down at the ground underneath me. I felt two of his perfect fingers under my chin,
“I would never leave you. Never ever” he stared right into my eyes and something in my heart told me he was telling the truth. That made me smile. The fact that he cared about me that much really meant a lot.
“Now let’s get you off the floor, aye?” Niall asked. I reached out my hands for him to pull me up bt instead he wrapped his arms around me and carried me bridal style to the bed. He dropped me onto it and sat down next to me. I smiled out of pure happiness.
“Thank you for coming here. I was bored out of my mind” i said seriously, looking at Niall.
“Glad to help” he smiled, leaning in closer. I realised what was happening and before I had time to react he closed the gap between us, closing his eyes as our lips locked. I was shocked at first but went along with it anyway. My arms wrapped around his neck as I tanged my fingers in his hair. By the way, this was our first kiss. Yes, we have been dating for a few days but we haven’t been on a date and therefore haven’t kissed. Niall’s lips were so soft and plump and it felt amazing. Fact, I am a virgin. Fact, this is my first kiss. Fact, Niall is my first boyfriend and fact, this is my first date. Niall is taking a lot of firsts from me.
“What the fuck?” I heard Cassie’s voice, pulling me out of my utopia. I broke away from Niall.
“What s going on here?” Brooke demanded. Niall and I remained quiet.
“You can leave now Neil” Cassie said.
“It’s Niall. N-I-A-L-L!” Niall corrected her.
“Who the fuck cares Neil, get out!”
Cassie shouted at him. Brooke giggled as she sat down in the arm chair across from my bed, how could they be so rude?
“See you later, Kayla” Niall said sadly, giving me a small smile before sulking out of my room with his head held low.
“Niall! Wait!” I called out after him, but he was gone.
