Chapter 22 - Date

Louis’s POV
Today is the day. I'm taking Dot on a date. I still can't believe she agreed to go on a date with me. I'm taking her to the carnival then down near a lake for a picnic. Jordan has helped me a lot. From giving me advice on where to take her, to just managing to keep it a surprise. I'm picking Dot up at seven. It is about half after six now. I'm wearing a plain white t-shirt with a jean jacket and black skinny jeans. Today had to be perfect.
As I was about to leave, Jordan grabbed my shoulder and turned me around.
“Listen bud,” She means business, “If you hurt her I will murder you. "Got it?”
“Got it,” I replied a bit scared.
“Okay good,” her tone softened, “Be good. No, later than eleven. Oh, and be careful of bees, she has an allergy. Have fun”
She gave me a small smile and sent me on my way. I got in the car, Jordan let me borrow her Jeep and plugged in my phone to the radio. TLC began to play, I want that to be the first thing Dot hears. I pull into her driveway and get out. I grab the flowers out of the back seat. I walk up and ring her doorbell. She opened with a smile on her face.
“Hello, love.”
“Hello, Louis.”
I held out my arm and she took it. I lead to the car and opened her door like a gentleman. As soon as she heard the music playing her smile grew. She wore a smile that whole drive. As we pulled up to the carnival, I wish I had a camera. Her smile somehow grew larger and her eyes widened.
As soon as I opened the car door for her, she pulled me into a tight embrace.
"Oh Louis, this is perfect."
I picked her up and spun her around, "A perfect date for a perfect girl."
I gently put her down and saw her cheeks blush.
We went on every ride there. Except one. The ferris wheel. We got on, her eyes lit up. But you could soon tell she had a small fear of heights. Of course, the ride has to stop while we were at the top. She pulled her knees to her chest and hid her head in her hands. To be honest it was kind of adorable. I stood up, careful not to shake the seat, and sat down next to her. I wrapped my arms around her and she pulled me into a hug.
"It's okay, love." I cooed in her ear. The ride had started again. Once we got off, I grabbed Dot's hand and pulled her to a small lake just off the fairgrounds. I had already set up the whole picnic, there was a blanket with a picnic basket sat in the middle. I sat down on the blanket and patted the spot next to me. Dot gently sat down and I opened the basket. I pulled out a bottle of wine and small dinner.
After dinner, we got up and headed for the car. Once we found it in the parking lot, I leaned in. Just as our lips were about to meet, she took a sharp inhale and had to hold on to the car for support. I was terrified, the girl I loved was struggling to breathe.
" Epi- epi pen. P-p-purse" she managed to get out.
I nearly ripped her purse off of her and started to frantically search. I finally found it and quickly read the directions. I injected her in the thigh, and her breathing calmed. I dialed 911 and explained the situation. About a minute after I hung up, Dot fainted. The ambulance came and whisked her away. I texted Jordan and the boys as I followed the ambulance. When we reached the hospital, they rushed Dot to the ER. The lady at the front desk handed me a clipboard with questions of the medical stuff and I sat down. As I filled out the form, I put down my own insurance. I caused her to be here, the least I could do is pay. About ten minutes later I everyone else arrived. They all tried to question me but I just hid my head in my hands and started to sob, ignoring them.
Twos Day Later
Jordan’s POV

“Please don't leave me,” Tears were running down my face onto her limp body. “You are all have left.” The beeping of her heart monitor was getting slower and slowly. I couldn't lose her. She needed to be here. I needed her. She can't leave.
All of a sudden Dot started violently shaking. The doctors ran in and wheeled her bed to an operating room. She still had a chance. She might pull through. No, she had to pull through.
This was all Louis fault. If he had been more careful, she wouldn't be in this situation. I stormed into the waiting room. He was standing in a corner. On his phone. How could that fucker be on his phone at a time like this? Dot could be dying for all he knows and he is on his fucking phone.
I stormed right up to him and before I could hit him square in the jaw, the desk lady spoke up,
“Anyone here for Dot Brooks?”
I nearly sprinted to the desk.
“Yes,” I said worriedly.
“Mrs. Brooks has had a seizure. She is recovering, but she is in a coma.”
“Do you know when she might wake up?” Louis said from behind me. I was too busy worrying to even notice him.
“Unfortunately no. For all we know, she could wake up in a week or she could wake up in a year. It really depends on her.”
I couldn't take it. I ran. I ran out of the hospital. I ran all the way to the park down the street. My vision was blurred from the tears, I didn't care. I kept on running. Eventually, I collapsed against a tree, deep in the park. I cried and cried.
My phone buzzed and I threw it into the grass. I don't want to talk to anyone right now. I want to be alone.
All of a sudden, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I looked up and saw a little boy, probably around four years old.
“I think you dropped this.” He held up my phone. I gave him a small smile.
“Thank you,” I said quietly.
“Are you okay, miss?”
“No,” I said plainly.
“Whats wrong?”
“Well, my best and only friend is in the hospital.” Why am I telling a little boy this?
All of a sudden I felt a small pair of arms around me, “It will be okay.” He turned around and ran back to his friends.
I looked at my phone. There was a text from Louis.
Louis: Dot is awake. She is a little confused at why you're not here, though.
Me: On my way. Be there in a sec.

I started to sprint back to the hospital. Shit, I ran far. I eventually got there and ran inside. I think the desk lady yelled at me to slow down or something, I ran right past her. I ran into Dot's room and burst through the door. I ran and nearly jumped onto the bed to give her a hug.
“Can't breathe.” She muttered.
“Oops…” I pulled away ever so slightly, still keeping her in a hug. I got my friend back. Everything was going to be okay. The little boy was right.
