Chapter 6

Louis P.O.V "The attack"

The rain woke me. I was dizzy and it was hard to concentrate. Time made no sense and must of been passing faster than I could register, I couldn't remember how long it had been since dinner. The sky was black now and I rolled onto my side so I could breath through the rain that poured on my face.

As I layed on my side in the rain soaked ground, a startlingly close sound of sniffling, like an animal sound. Should I feel afraid? I didn't. Just numb and cold, how could it matter at this point anyways.

I started to feel faint stirrings of unease in the pit of my stomach, but I was determined not to let my squeamishness get the best of me. Pressure on my stomach was felt, but I continued to ignore it because there was no pain anymore only a slight pulling.

Until I looked into the yellow eyes of a huge wolf. His teeth sunk into my stomach and I watched as my dark, red blood spilled out in agony. The pain was bewildering, it felt like I was being sawed in half while being tied down and gagged, but instead I couldn't possibly move because of the pain.

My chest rapidly raised just fall again. I couldn't breath and my throat was burning, I lost feeling in my arms, legs and chest. It was excruciating being held down by my pain. I wanted to move my arms and rip my heart out. Anything to get rid of this pain.

Seeing my blood pulsing out of my stomach, staining the wolves fur, dazed and disoriented me until I was sucked into the blackness of non-reality.

Vanessa's P.O.V

The thick haze that blurred my mind after the words that had just came out of the intercom was confusing. Leaving me surprised to find myself in the office asking for Louis hospital room information, not clearly remembering dressing or walking out of my dorm, yet alone getting out of bed.

I asked nicely for Louis' hospital information from the marshal of the school, after I got it the haze took over my responce but I didn't fight it as I let it say my thanks.

I sprint out of the school and don't stop until I hit the bus stop for 395, I know this bus leads to the transit center which is near Lower Manhattan hospital; where Louis is. I lost track of time waiting for the arrival of the bus, but losing track of the time was the most I asked for in this desperate moment.

As the bus pulls over to me I reach into my sweater pocket not finding anything for the fair, I reach into my left pocket and feel some change. I don't bother to count it to see if it's the proper pay before dumping it into the slot.

I don't pay detailed attention to where the bus is until I see the hospital come into view, yanking the yellow string attached to the wall and descending the steps to the doors. As the bus stops I jump off and start running towards the hospital, I don't even feel anything when a driver gives me the finger for not looking before carelessly running across the street.

Not breaking my pace, I go directly to the elevator pressing floor seven. The short wait tests my limited patience, as soon as the doors open I start running again until aggressively swinging open door #510.

The overwhelming atmosphere of death exempts itself here. Sick and mutilated as Louis was, he was still beautiful as ever there was something pure and good about his face. It's the time of face you want to look at forever.

I rush over to Louis feeling his forehead burning with fever and coated with a light layer of sweat. Stroking back his hair I feel content and safe, knowing that he's okay and I will be the first person he sees when he wakes up from this terrible nightmare that has grabbed my life into its void.

A few hours later

Louis is drifted off on painkillers. I am alone in this room with him, in the time I have been here I pulled a purple armchair near his bed to be more comfortable. After a while I take my fingers out of Louis's soft matted hair, and hold his hand. For the first time I notice how much younger he looks asleep.

I rest my forehead against his bed holding his hand intertwined with mine, close enough that my hot breath warms our hands.

"Hey Ness" Louis looks at me tired and beaten down, struggling to speak.

"Lou" I breath out, my breath fanning my hand.

''Cuddle me?'' He tried not to be demanding with it, but it was hard when he couldn't move, and even harder to say no when he was so vulnerable.

I timidly climb onto the bed beside louis laying my head on his arm that he extended, like a pillow. The bandage they covered him up with went from his chest to hips and looked shifty if you moved it too much. The IV in his right arm had several components and the nubs in his nose were delivering two liters of oxygen a minute.

"Louis, are you in pain?'' I had to ask, I gently brush his hair out of his eyes for him, receiving a small and weak smile before he intelligablly murmurs a no and pressed his chapped and cold lips against mine seeming too tired to do anything else.

I don't know how much time I spent with Louis, but I didn't care. Eventually at around three am we both feel asleep peacefully in each other's arms.
