End Of The Day

The flight to London was long, and I’m extremely tired. That first evening, we head straight to Louis’ house to try to sleep off the jet lag.
The next two days, Louis shows me all around. Taking me to all the normal sightseeing spots, along with all his favorite places. We are having such a good time that it helps with my nerves.
“Why are you nervous, Love?”
“What if people here won’t like me? What if I don’t fit in?”
“Please don’t worry, Lea. They will love you as much as I do.”

I’m nervous going into the interview, but it actually goes quite well. They ask me some questions about my experience, even have me do a mock interview. It went so smoothly, it was almost as if they already knew they were going to hire me.

Later that day, sure enough they call to offer me the job. The contract is so generous, I immediately accept. As soon as I’m off the phone, Louis gives me a hug. “I’m so proud of you, Love.”
“I guess fate has decided, we’ll be living here.”
Louis looks down briefly. “Yes, it has. I’m relieved, not sure I could manage not having you with me.”
Wrapping my arms around his waist, I assure him. “It’s not an issue anymore, Sweetheart.”
“I’m going to run to the store for some champagne. We need to celebrate. I’ll be right back.” Louis says, kissing me before running out the door.
His phone goes off. I grab it, running to the door, but he’s already gone.
Looking down at the screen, I read the text message. It’s from the producer of the show that just hired me.
“You’re welcome, Louis. Happy to do you a favor.”
