Going Up?
Chapter 14
The two oddly riding the elevator down to the lobby seemed like it was taking forever but, the truth about forever is only one important matter which is that: it's happening now.

Crumpling his wrapper, Niall chews the last bit of Poptart he had but then pulls out another from his pocket.
"It isn't too much sugar for the morning?" Naomi tried to make conversation like nothing had happened a few moments ago, she just wanted to get to school, is all.
"Never." he smiles crookedly and they walk out to feel the cold breeze.
Naomi's breath hitching for just a second but, a second too late because Niall had heard it.
"Everything alright?" he whispered, trying to keep her best composure of not crying, she nodded.
"Fine. Just Fine." she looked far away and bit off a piece of her treat, Niall trying to figure out what had suddenly stroke her interest far away.
"Let's go?" Niall's cold fingers startled Naomi, either that or just the simple touch of his made her surprised, she was unsure. "My car is right there."
"I think I should explain myself.. somehow.." Niall had started after a few minutes sinking into awkward silence in the car. "I didn't mean to make you upset."
"Just..." Niall waited for her to continue, "Just stop."
The young Irish lad had seen this feature more than he could count, where exactly? His own face whenever people who knew about Sam tried talking to him. This was his way of disconnecting and just simply.. avoiding the touchy subject. He didn't want tears shed from others nor tears shed from himself, he just wanted everything to.. stop. And that is what Naomi wanted as of now.
"I know how it feels to want everything to stop.." he just wanted to say this, "But, I am truly sorry for what I have done to make you feel this way. I swear."
Naomi looked into his blue eyes as they were parked infront of her first class' building, she was searching for answers written in his face. To see whether if he was speaking of the truth or of a lie. And she went with what she thought, the truth.
Believing Niall is genuinely apologizing, she looks away and says," I forgive you."
She says it so faintly, barely a whisper, afraid Niall didn't hear it but, frightened to speak them twice as well. But her theory was demolished by him responding with, "Thank you."
With the exact same tone and gentle whisper, making her look at his face again. He seemed calm but yet upset. Not upset with her, specifically, but more of.. upset with himself, she thought.
After that moment, I think that things would change for Naomi and Niall. She knew it, he knew it. They just didn't know how it would change, for the better or for the worse? More of awkward moments or the moments they had which were sentimental and worth keeping as a reminder that somebody does care.
Being able to share secrets with a stranger was what baffled them the most as they wondered if the rest of their skeletons would soon be discovered or judged by one another.
