The One in the Crowd

Today’s the day, the day Niall and Alyssa leave to go on their holiday! They had all their things packed and ready to load into their private jet they were using. As they were putting their bags in the jet, Alyssa was still trying to get the location out of Niall.

“Pleeeeease? I wanna know so badly!!” she begged.

He just laughed and said, “Babe, I’m not gonna tell you! You’ll find out when we get there in 9 ½ hours.”

Alyssa looks at him wide eyed. “Where are we going? Halfway around the world?”

Niall just smiled to himself while putting in his last bag. “C’mon, let’s go!” he says picking her up and carrying her onto the jet, closing the door behind them.

A whole nine and a half hours later, the happy couple arrived at their destination. “Guess what, princess? We’re here. Take a look out the window.” Niall said.

Alyssa did as he said and she couldn’t believe where he had taken her. Where they just flew for nine and a half hours was none other than Rome, Italy.

“We’re spending a whole month together in Italy?!?!” Alyssa shrieked hugging Niall super tight.

“I knew you’d love it, sweetie. C’mon let’s explore Rome!”

They got off the jet and did just that. The first thing they did before any sight-seeing was get authentic Italian pizza, of course. After that, they saw all the famous landmarks and museums before checking in at their hotel for the night.

Throughout the month they spent in Italy, they travelled all over the country. From Rome, to Venice, to Florence, to Naples, and everywhere in between. The whole time, Alyssa kept asking if they could go to an Italian beach and Niall kept telling her “not yet.” Finally, on the last day of their trip, their last stop in beautiful Italia was the beach on the East coast.

They got onto the beach around late afternoon and just walked along the shore hand in hand. Alyssa found it really strange that there were a bunch of tents, but she didn’t say anything. Then as it gets to be the evening, Niall says, “Alyssa, I wanna tell you something.”

“Okay, what is it Nialler?”

“I have to say…you are the best girlfriend I could have ever asked for. You love food, guitar, and music in general just as much as I do, you get on amazing with my family, and you make me feel the happiest I’ve ever felt. Even though we had that rough patch, since then we’ve been nothing but strong and supportive of each other. I don’t know how I could live without you, babe. You’re my sunshine and my princess.” There are pauses throughout this next speech while he struggles to find the right words.

“Back when we first started dating, I struggled. I wanted to spend every second with you when I knew I couldn’t and it killed me. I couldn’t take the distance and I let that ruin what we had and more importantly, hurt you beyond words. During that time, I was at war. It was a continuous battle in my mind whether I should end things and end them early to make it easier on us, or to succumb to what is meant to be. When my battle with destiny was finally over, it was clear that destiny was the victor. No matter what amount of distance separates us, no matter how different our lives are, nothing could ever break us apart….”

“You know how I always say I look for my future wife in a crowd? When I got to Florida almost five years ago for the Where We Are tour, I had a feeling in my gut that I would find her at one of the shows in that state…and I did. Alyssa, you caught my eye. You were the one in the crowd. And you’re the woman I know I’m destined to spend my life with.”

He kneels down pulling out a black box opening it to reveal a stunning diamond ring. “Alyssa Leigh Maggio, my beautiful beautiful princess, will you marry me…and become my beautiful beautiful queen?” he asks beaming up at her.

With tear-filled eyes, she responds saying, “Yes, Niall James Horan…yes!”

Alyssa jumps into Niall’s arms and he twirls her around while she cries. They’re about to kiss when all of a sudden a whole bunch of people start coming out of the many tents that were set up along the shoreline.

As Alyssa gets a closer look at the people, she realizes it’s her family and friends from home. Then she spots Greg, Denise, and Theo realizing all of Niall’s family and friends are there too. Alyssa turns to her fiancé for an answer.

“I paid for both of our families and friends to share this special day with us. Surprise, love.” He says with a smile.

“You were all certain that I would say yes?” Alyssa asks the big group shocked.

As if on cue, both sets of parents say, “Of course, you’re perfect for each other.”

Niall and Alyssa look at each other and Niall says, “I couldn’t agree more.” kissing the top of her head.
