Almost 5 Years Later…
It’s Alyssa’s graduation day. She’s graduating with a Master’s in elementary education so she can teach little kids, because she loves them so much. However, she did minor in music as well and has gotten just as good as Niall at guitar throughout her college years.
One Direction has stopped making albums and touring now so now there’s just the occasional interview or TV appearance. This means her and Niall can officially be a couple with no more distance.
Her graduating class is sitting in the auditorium waiting for the ceremony to start and she’s scanning the crowd looking for Niall, but she can’t find him or the other guys anywhere. It wasn’t certain that Niall would be able to make it to her graduation, but he was almost 100% certain.
He and Alyssa have been dating for almost six years. And the whole time, even when she was off at college and he was busy being a superstar in One Direction, they kept in contact and whenever they were both off from school and touring, they would meet up somewhere in Florida. For them, it just worked.
The ceremony started with Alyssa still seeing no sign of Niall. She tuned out all the speeches from various people and just hoped that her boyfriend would end up making it to see her cross the stage with her diploma. As they were about to start handing out diplomas, Alyssa heard someone shout, “Woo!! Go Alyssa!” and she recognized it immediately for Niall’s Irish voice.
As it got to the M’s, she was one of the first called. And when the professor’s voice rang out over the mic “Alyssa Maggio” Niall screamed and hollered saying, “That’s my girl! That’s my princess!” and she smiled bright turning her tassel to the other side grabbing her diploma. Then when all the names were called and everyone was back to their seats, the group was announced the graduating class of 2021 and they all threw their caps up in the air in celebration.
After the ceremony, the five guys found her and tackled her in a group hug. “Congrats, Alyssa! It took an extra year, but you got your teaching degree, love!” Louis said.
“Congratulations, sweetheart. I’m so proud of you.” Niall said kissing her cheek.
“Thanks, guys. So what are we doing to celebrate?” Alyssa asked eagerly.
The guys gave each other looks before Liam said, “Actually, just you and Niall are going out to celebrate.”
“Oh…okay then. Where are we going?” she asked.
“Nandos.” Niall said.
“Yum, let’s go!” she says running and dragging Niall by the hand.
Chuckling, Niall shouts to the others, “Later lads!” with a response of “Later Nialler!”
The couple went to Nandos and had a nice dinner in celebration of not only Alyssa’s graduation, but of their long distance relationship days being over. When they were done eating, Niall took her hand in both of his and leaned towards her. Alyssa knew what this meant; he wanted to talk about something.
“Yes, Niall?” she said equally leaning towards him.
“In celebration of our relationship being able to be normal now, I was wondering if you would want to go on a holiday with me.”
“Oh my gosh I’d love to! Where would we go?” she asked excited.
“That is a surprise, my love. But trust me, you’ll love it.”
“Aw man! Does it have to be a surprise?” she asks disappointed.
“Yes, and in the end you’ll thank me.” Niall says winking.
On the ride to Alyssa’s house, all they talked about was when they would go and what they needed to pack, etc. They were going at the end of the week and would be there for a month. Alyssa wanted to know so badly where their holiday was going to be, but she could tell Niall wasn’t going to budge so it must be somewhere really great.
They got to her house and went inside. They played some guitar and sang for a bit, then decided to get some sleep. “You know, in five years you’ve gotten pretty great at guitar, hon.” Niall commented.
“Thanks, Ni. They had a guitar club at my college with pro-instructors available so I learned quite a lot while I was there.”
“But always remember that I helped you get started.” He said kissing her head as they climbed into bed.
“Of course. How could I forget it?” she replied. Once they were under the covers, Niall pulled Alyssa close to him and held her tight against his body, wrapping his strong arms around her.
“Goodnight, Alyssa. I love you.” He says as he involuntarily loosens his grip on her and drifts off.
“Goodnight, Niall. I love you too.” She says as she drifts off. So there they laid, home in each other’s arms fast asleep.
