“(She speaks behind the door) Honey, are you feeling any better now? (When I don’t respond she speaks again) Alright, I’ll leave you to rest. There is tea and cookies in the living room. I’m sure Harry and I would be pleased to see you down there, if you’re interested.” Once I hear my aunt’s heels fading away, I grab the closest thing to my hand and throw it to the ground with a mutter of depression.





The pillow landed on the ground with a minimal thump, as I took a piece of tissue and blew my nose. I have been locked up in my room from last night. I didn’t want anything to do with what is outside of these four walls. I tended to imprison myself with the sadness and pain that is still eating me alive till now. I haven’t slept more than an hour, and it wasn’t because I managed to find my peace of mind.





The crying and was able to tire me for one hour, causing me to shut down like a machine. How could Harry like Georgia? To come and think of it, why wouldn’t he? She’s rich, attractive, super flirty and clearly doesn’t have morals; its like every man’s dream for the ideal woman in this century. Do I not dress to impress? Am I not pretty enough for him? What on earth could she have more than I do?





My wealth is triple than hers, I am known to my class more than she is, and people like my company. But then again, I did tell Harry that he will find a girl that he likes and eventually he would want to share a true kiss with her. Maybe Georgia is what Harry wants, she is his match after all in this case. I think I drew a protective border over the idea of Harry, in my own mind; preventing any bad thought to penetrate and change my opinion about him.






Now that I look at it, Harry is not any different from the rest of the hormonal young men in his age. They all want the same thing, but I am not going to give in. They want a quick hook up then there is people like Georgia. I, on the other hand, am not that low nor cheap to give in easily. I deserve to be cherished, I deserve to be cared for and I deserve my own respect.





A subtle knock slips me away from my mind war, as the voice of the knocker shivers my skin: “Valerie? Its Harry. Are you feeling better?” My voice finds its power as I yell: “Go away, Harry! I’m not well and I don’t want to talk to you!” He stays quiet for a moment, then speaks in curiosity: “I want to thank you for the phone. Would you please let me in so you could help me in learning how to call? Georgia gave me her number yesterday, and she told me to call her.”





I leap out of bed, caring less if I look like a mess right now or not. I yank my door opened, as Harry gets startled. “(I speak with full anger) Listen to me, clearly. You want help? Go downstairs and ask my aunt or wait for my father to come back to help you. It didn’t seem you wanted help sucking the life out of her lips last night. (His face saddens as I proceed) I don’t want to talk to you, I don’t want to see you and I will certainly not help you talk to that piece of crap, do you hear me!?”





Harry’s body tenses as he argues back: “Why are you angry at me? I didn’t do anything wrong! You told me that I will find a girl soon, so what is your problem with me, Valerie?” I spit out viciously: “My problem is none of your business, Harry. Leave me the heck alone!” I slam the door right in his face, as I slump down to the ground and cry like a lost child. Why did I have to tell him that? I lost him, and its all because of my stupid mouth.
