What Do I Want? (19th Chapter)
Valerie's POV:

“(I whisper to the maid that is standing behind me with the bags) Please, escort him slowly upstairs with the bags. Keep an eye on him, I’ll be up soon.” She nods as she pats Harry’s back and leads him with the butler and driver on her lead to the upstairs. “I’m waiting for your explanation, Valerie.” My dad crosses his arms in authority and seriousness, as I click my heels to distract me from feeling ashamed.
“(I mumble) You’re right, dad. But, I couldn’t leave him here. Roger took his measurements and I had to by him clothes just like you told me to. I was in a sticky situation, and trust me nothing happened to him or me. (I smile at the memory) In fact, Harry had so much fun out there. He ate his first ice cream, and I got the chance to get him a wonderful wardrobe…”
My father releases a heavy sigh, as his muscles relax and his features soften. “Darling, I don’t enjoy lecturing you, and I certainly do not enjoy being worried. Harry’s case is extremely fragile, and if something happened; he doesn’t have an ID card yet to simplify his case. You know, a simple phone call would have done me a great favour and relieved me. That’s all what I hoped you’d do. (He decides to drop the subject) Anyway, I am glad that you were able to maintain his safety; I am truly proud of you. (He smiles) Now off you go. Help Harry settle in and once he sleeps, come downstairs so we could have a little chat.” Instantly, I hug my father and rush upwards to the awaiting beauty.
Once I enter, I find Harry’s head inside an empty bag while the three staff members are busy placing the clothes into the closets and drawers. I giggle at his action, while I clonk my heels to sit beside him on the bed. “Harry, what are you doing.” He peeks his head out of the bag, and grins at me.
I don’t know why, but I felt my arms hugging his waist as my head lowered on his shoulder. I needed affection, I needed his affection for once. I placed his arms around me as we both watched the employees filing the clothes tidily. I don’t know about Harry, but my mind was drifted away from this world at the moment. It was like physically I am here, but my mind is in its own planet.
Harry is getting what he needs. He is learning, he got clothes today and everyone is treating him with complete care. It would be silly of me, but a small part inside feels left out, even though I am involved in this process. I feel like I am not getting what I want.
But, what do I want? I, myself, am lost and confused about my goals right now. Meeting up with my friends will not solve the issue, I need something bigger. Something new that I have never experienced before. Something that would show me how much this life is valuable and isn’t a waist. Something or someone…
The closest feeling that I am getting, is from Harry right now. as his arms are around me, I am teaching him in an indirect way about physical affection. He might be learning how to apply it, but he certainly doesn’t know the reason behind it. Should I tell him what it means? Will he even understand the symbolism?
I’d rather not tell him; I want his human instinct to guide him, but I certainly don’t want him to form feelings for me. What if he has already? The possibility is not stable, in fact my thinking is fuzzy and unstable right now. However, I am certain of one thing for now; I need Harry’s arms to keep me till my eyes drift into the land of dreams.
