Chapter 43: Perky, But Honest
Niall’s POV
‘’You okay babe?’’ Jana asks me as she tightly squeezes my sweaty hand. ‘’No.. I’m nervous.’’ I mumble as she knocks on the door, letting my hand go. I wipe my palms on my shirt, trying to get some of the nervous sweat off of me.
The door opens and a tall man, similar to Jana’s dad, stands there. He smiles brightly as he realizes who’s before him. He pulls Jana into a big hug, holding her tight as he rocks her in his arms lightly, swaying side to side.
‘’Papaw, I missed you!’’ She says to the man that’s near his seventies. ‘’I missed you too, Angel!’’ He says back as he releases her. He glances over at me. Not the same expression I got from Chad almost a year ago. He holds out his hand. I take it and shake it as he introduces himself to me.
‘’Andrew Bennett. And you are?’’ He smiles as we stop shaking hands. I go to open my mouth, but Jana beats me to it. ‘’Niall.. remember? I told you a long time ago.’’ She says. ‘’Jana, honey, let the boy talk for himself.’’ He laughs lightly.
‘’Niall Horan.’’ I say. He nods as he motions us to follow him in. The nice sized house smelled like honey and flowers. Surprising, really. Andrew takes us through a small foyer and into a living room. There’s a few people there, older ones. The youngest being maybe thirty something. There’s only three of them, though.
‘’Niall, this is my aunt and my cousins.. That’s Amy, Claire, and Aunt Jill.’’ She says, pointing to the women. Apparently, this her great aunt, she seems sixty something, by her appearance. ‘’Well, Hello, there.’’ She says to me with a smile so kind and gentle as she walks over to me.
She gives me a hug, squeezing me tight. ‘’You must be that lovely boy I was told about?’’ She asks, pinching my cheek lightly. ‘’Aunt Jill, please..’’ Jana laughs as she pushes her aunt’s hand from my face. ‘’Its fine.’’ I say, smiling at her as she hugs Jana.
‘’We were about to leave, glad we didn’t miss ya!’’ She says as she kisses Jana’s cheek lightly. ‘’Niall, can I speak to you, in private?’’ Andrew asks me. ‘’Yes, Sir.’’ I nod as I follow him into the kitchen.

’m fucking nervous know. Last time some one wanted to have an important talk with me, it was to tell me that I better take care of the ones I love because you don’t know how long you have with them.
“I was told that you are engaged.. to Jana?’’ He asks as he sits down, motioning me to sit down too. So I do. The table is round and the chairs have cushions in them, soft. “Yes, Sir.’’ I nod. I’m not going to disrespect any one. Especially since it’s the only people Jana has left in her life, besides her worthless piece of shit of a mother. Damn I don’t like that woman..
‘’I can remember… when Jana was very young. She loved to play on the beach with her older cousins, she was the youngest ‘round here.. But she always dreamed of the perfect.. husband.. and family.. and wedding.. and I just.. I always wanted her to have those things. So, if you two need any help with the money-“ I cut him off, not rudely though.
‘’No, no.. I have everything covered.’’ I assure him. I know Jana told him “who” I was, so why is he doing this? Just to be polite? A good person? What? ‘’Alright, but what I was saying is.. I just need Jana to have a good life.. Are you treating her well?’’ He asks concernly.
‘’Oh, yes.. yes sir I am. I promise I will, forever.’’ I say, trying not to sound too desperate about anything. “Good.. good. So, how’s my lady bug doing? Tori?’’ He asks with a smile as he glances me down from what he can see from the table.
‘’She’s wonderful..’’ I assure him. ‘’She still cheerful, playful?’’ He asks. ‘’Yes, sir. She’s doing just perfectly fine. She’s always happy..’’ I smile, thinking of my Princess. I miss my baby so much! Damn, I just wanna hold her and snuggle with her tonight, but I know I can’t do that right now.
‘’And, I hear I got a new member into my family? Taylor, is it?’’ He says. ‘’Yes, sir.’’ I say, also smiling. I miss them both so fucking much, it hurts me to even think about them. ‘’How old is he, a few months I assume.’’ Andrew says, sorta to himself.
‘’He’s almost one month.’’ I say. ‘’Oh, wow. That’s crazy, eh? You like being a dad?’’ He asks, smiling as he stands up, walking to the sink to get some water as he gets a cup. ‘’Yes sir, I love it. It’s the most wonderful thing in the entire world.’’ I say, not trying sound braggy or full of myself, or whatever. I’m trying to be honest.
I need to impress him, get his full blessing.
So yeah, I might sound too perky when I answer, but its for a good reason..
