Always Will Remember

Five is for the wives.

Tears built up in Niamh’s eyes. She’s so sick of being the girl who falls for Blaine’s games. Blaine’s a guy Niamh met in September ever since October they’ve had some kind of “thing” going on. They regularly meet up and just make out, he sometimes tries to make it into more but she always refuses.

Niamh always says that the only thing that keeps her away from the Straight Edge label is the fact that she loves meat and she drinks far too much. The whole ‘Straight Edge’ concept is basically people who are against everything that could be labelled as ‘fun’. They usually don’t eat meat and on top of that they don’t have sex outside of relationship, they don’t drink, they don’t smoke or do drugs. Not a lifestyle Niamh would ever label herself with.

“I’ve just had it with B, he’s just… he tells me what I want to hear and I fucking fall for it every time.” The girl complains to her friend. It’s definitely not the first time she had a rant about Blaine, it’s a complicated situation. He’s been hurt in the past by girls and is basically taking it all out on her. He tells Niamh things are different with her then goes and has sex with someone she knows.

“I really don’t know him well enough to judge how he’d react if you just have someone else… but maybe that’s what you should do? At some party, make out with a random dude and make sure B hears about it.” Katie shrugs making Niamh smile.

Later that night Niamh and Katie met up with a couple of friends for a party. They started the party off with a drinking game. “You put the cards in a circle… well all you really have to remember is four to floor and seven to heaven. Okay?” A blonde guy explains to the group. “Who are you anyway?” The guy points to Niamh.

“I’m Niamh, what about you?” She asks, smiling at him gently.

“Oh, I forgot to introduce you two. Niamh, that’s Niall. He’s been on tour, that’s why you haven’t met him.” Jake explains to her, she nods then pulls a card from the circle.

“Six is for the dicks. All the guys have to drink.” Niall explains then takes a big gulp of his beer; the rest of the guys follow his actions.

Next is Katie who pulls the card nine. “Nine bust a rhyme. You have to say a word, everyone has to rhyme with that until someone can’t. Then that person has to drink.” Niall explains to everyone.

“Brain.” “Plain.” “Jane.” “Fame.” When it’s Dani’s turn to rhyme he gets stuck and takes a sip of his beer.

Miranda pulls the card four; everyone immediately pushes their one arm to the floor – trying to protect their face from hitting the table with the other. Niamh smiles at the blonde guy next to her. “This is uncomfortable.” She giggles as he nods.

The night went on faster than the drinking games did and eventually everyone was either tipsy or extremely drunk. “You’re Irish, what are you doing in Braintree?” Niamh asks her ‘soulmate’, she decided he’s her soulmate about a half hour ago when they both admitted to their love for Nando’s.

“I visited a friend today. Going home tomorrow. What about you?” Niamh nods, taking another sip of her beer.

“I’m just… yolo’ing.” She laughs loudly then shakes her head. “No, I say yolo a lot. I never mean it. I hate those people. Anyway, I’m just having fun. Enjoying my vacation and then going back to Ireland for Christmas.” She explains to him. “Who’d you go on tour with?” Niamh asks the guy. She’s very interested in touring and the music industry, not for her but it seems an interesting lifestyle.

“With um… I’m in a band. Sort of.” Niamh raises her eyebrow at Niall’s vagueness.

“What do you mean, sort of?” Niall shrugs, taking a sip of his beer.

“It’s a boys band… One Direction…” He mumbles the last part. Niamh’s faced loses all colour before she bursts out in laughter.

“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. I just expected something completely different!” She laughs, biting her lip with an apologetic look.

“It’s fine.” Niall shrugs, not sure how to react to her reaction.

“I actually have a lot of respect for you guys…” Niamh mumbles, pointing at the other Irish with a drunken finger. Just at that moment his phone starts buzzing in his pocket. Pulling it out he notices Zayn’s name on the screen.

“Sorry Niamh, I have to get this.” He tells the girl while sliding his finger over the screen. “What’s up?”

“Are you still in London, wanna have a drink?” It sounds from the other end of the line.

“Shit, mate, I’m in Braintree right now. You can come here though?” Niall mumbles into his phone, he’s too drunk to drive back to London right now but he can tell his friend needs him.

“Oh, no. It’s fine. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Zayn replies not even giving Niall the time to respond before he finishes the call. Niall sighs, running his fingers through his hair.

“What’s wrong, Ni?” Niamh asks Niall, they decided that they should just call each other ‘Ni’ and confuse every single person around them.

“Something with my friend. He’s in London though so I can’t help much.” Niall shrugs, apologising to Zayn through a text message.

“If you really want to get over there… I can try and convince a friend of mine to drive?” Niall shrugs mumbling how it probably doesn’t even matter.

“What was that? You want me to? Okay, let me just call Blaine. Give me a moment.” With that the girl walks off into the corner of the room with her phone pressed against her ear.

“Blaine’s picking us up soon.” Niamh says when she returns to Niall. “Roadtrip to London it is!” She giggles drunkenly.
