All I Ever Wanted

One Big Happy Family

(Leah’s POV)

I sat in my seat, barely breathing. I couldn’t believe what’d just happened. I was completely overwhelmed with joy. I watched him as he finished the show, wishing time would fast forward so that I could be back in his warm embrace. I was still crying a bit. My happiness was flowing over. I finally had the boy I needed, and all felt right in the world again.

He’d glance over at me every so often, catching my gaze, and grin – that cheeky, flirty, grin that made me want to throw him down and kiss it off of his face. It was good to see life back in his eyes. The show was finally coming to a close and I heard them thank the audience. All five of them came running off stage. Harry came straight to me and pulled me up in his arms, while I wrapped my legs around his waist. He kissed me, long and hard. The electricity that shot through my body felt good. I hadn’t felt this way in a long time. I loved the way he shocked my system – like a drug. I ran my fingers through his sweaty curls and we continued kissing.

“Get a room!” Louis called out.

Harry giggled and I could feel it through the kiss, which caused me to giggle too. I pulled away and slid out of his arms.

“We plan to.” I smirked. Louis made a disgusted face and covered Eleanor’s ears, like she was a child. She wriggled from his grip, and playfully hit his arm.

“So are you lovebirds going out on the town with us tonight?” Zayn asked, looking from me to Harry. I looked to Harry, who looked back at me.

“I think we’re just going to get a movie and stay in and enjoy each other’s company tonight.” Harry smiled.

“Enjoying each other’s company.” Liam laughed.

“Yeah, have fun with that… movie.” Niall wagged his eyebrows as the group headed to the back doors.

“Just don’t do enjoy one another on the table. That’s where we eat family dinners this week!” Louis yelled, turning to give us a displeasing grin. Harry flicked him off, laughing.

“Let’s go.” He grabbed my hand and led me out to the car.

We had to make the short flight back to the resort. It was a pain, but I was with Harry, so I wasn’t complaining. On the plane, we goofed around, told dumb jokes, and flirted. I’d missed him more than I’d realized. We arrived at our resort, and Harry insisted that he carry me in. He tried to pick me up bridal style, but I pouted.

“That’s boring. Here.” I spun him around and jumped on his back. He shook his head and made the trek up to our room. He took me into my bedroom and plopped me down on the bed, seductively kissing my neck. I playfully pushed him off. “Sheesh, don’t you want to take a look at the hotel, go stick our toes in the sand, or breathe?” I giggled.

“Yeah, actually, I really do want to watch a movie.” He said, as he climbed off of me and rolled over to lay next to me. “It will be like our first date all over again.” I beamed as he suddenly jumped off the bed to pull The Notebook out of his duffle. My mouth fell to the floor.

“Harry? You carry that around with you?”

“It reminds me of you and our undying love. Nothing could tear Noah and Allie apart, just like nothing can tear us apart.” He looked to the floor, as if he was nervous.

“Harry, that’s the sweetest thing!” I jumped off of the bed and kissed him. “You believed in us the whole time?”

“Of course I did. I prayed every day that you’d find your way back to me. I knew our love was real. That’s what was killing me –you were throwing away something so real. I just didn’t have the balls to tell you, especially after I saw you with your boyfriend.”

“You saw me and Ryan? Wait, what?” I was shocked. I didn’t even know for sure that Harry knew about him.

“Yeah, at your LA show.”

“My LA show?! You were there?” I was standing in front of him now – still completely shocked.

“Yeah, I came to get you and bring you back to London. But then I saw you with him after the show, so I left and went and got really drunk.” He laughed a little.

“Oh, God. Harry! Why didn’t you speak to me anyways?” My heart dropped to think that Harry was a few feet away when I’d decided to give Ryan a chance. The whole time apart could have been avoided. I didn’t blame Harry, though. If I was in his position, I would have done the same thing. Harry shot me a look.

“I guess all I really wanted was for you to be happy – and that night when you were with him you looked happy. So I let you be. I knew if he really made you happy, you wouldn’t come back. Then I saw you here tonight – and I figured you’d pretty much come back.” He grinned.

“I didn’t come here to get back with you. I came here to see how you were. I told myself, and everyone else that I didn’t want to see you, but deep down, I did. I really did. When you walked towards me, singing, I was the happiest I’ve ever been – ever!” I motioned with my hands to show him how happy I really was.

“Are you sure? Cause you looked like you were going to shit yourself.” He laughed, pulling me in for a hug.

“I’m positive!” I laughed. “Now, let’s watch this movie!” He slid the disk into the tv in my bedroom and I crawled into bed.

“Nope.” Harry stood in front of the tv with his arms crossed.

“What?” I asked, completely unaware of whatever was displeasing him. He reached into the side of his duffle and pulled out a flannel button up shirt.

“You have to wear this tonight. It’ll make me really happy.” He threw the shirt, and knocked me in the face. He giggled as I gave him the finger and slid off the bed to change.

“You’re so demanding. Your way or the highway, huh?” I smirked.

“Damn right. Now eat these donuts and make me happy!” He yelled as he stuck his hand into his duffle and brought out a bag of mini donuts.

“What the hell? What other surprises do you have in that bag?” I said as I slipped on his plaid shirt and shoved a donut in my mouth.

“That’s all.” He flashed a cheeky grin and pressed play on the movie. We climbed into bed and snuggled under the covers.

“Harry, I love you so so much.” I spoke dramatically, but I meant every word.

“Cross your heart?”

“Cross my heart.” I winked at him.

“Good, cause I love you so so so much.” He made a motion to cross his heart. I giggled and laid my head on his chest as the movie started.

“IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP!” Louis, Eleanor, Zayn, and Perrie all sang loudly while jumping on the bed, pinching, tickling, and giving Harry and I kisses.

I felt Harry awake and wrestling free from all the greedy hands, and I began to do the same. Laughter erupted from my belly, working its way out of my mouth.

I’m truly happy. I’ve got the people I need and memories to make.

The chaos stopped once everyone was sure that there was no chance that Harry or I would fall back asleep. Harry and I had fallen asleep during The Notebook the previous night, and neither of us had heard the rest of the gang come in during the night.

“Breakfast is ready!” Eleanor called out. She was always trying to make sure everything was perfect, and everyone was taken care of. But I wasn’t complaining. We all gathered around the big dining room table, which was already set and ready for us to dig in.

“Now, let’s all try to ignore what may or may not have taken place on this table last night as we enjoy our breakfast as a partial family.” Louis clasped his hands together as everyone began to fill their plates. Harry flicked him off while I could only laugh. Harry and I hadn’t done anything last night but sleep. We would never convince our friends of that, though.

“Speaking of partial family, are Niall, Liam, and their girlfriends coming to stay?” I questioned as I took a sip of my orange juice. Looks were given all around the table, but I was seriously asking. Eleanor finally spoke up.

“We didn’t know if that would make you uncomfortable or not. So, they just decided to stay at a place in Mexico City.” Eleanor said, reaching for bacon.

“Guys, in all honesty, I would rather have them all here. I want the family to be complete. If they want to be here, I want them to be here.” I stabbed my innocent pancake, and stuffed it into my mouth.

“Are you absolutely sure? I mean, nice things didn’t exactly happen last time we were all together.” Zayn stopped eating.

“I’m positive. My hard feelings are gone. I’ve got Harry and you guys back. That’s all I need. I want to be on good terms with them. Danielle and Emma included.” I swallowed the pancake and went back in for another bite.

“We can see if they’d be interested in coming then. I’m guessing we’re all settled on having a beach day. Am I right?” Louis looked around the table.

Everyone nodded excitedly, since all mouths were full of Eleanor’s delectable cooking. I swallowed again, and spoke up.

“I’ll call, if that’s okay.” All eyes fell on me.

“Baby, maybe I should call.” Harry reached out to rub my hand.

“No, let me. Just give me Danielle’s number.” I finished the food on my plate and took another swig of orange juice, noticing the looks everyone was giving me. “Guys, I swear. I’m okay. I want this family group to work like it used to, only with me in it.” I laughed. “Really, I want them here and I want things to be right.”

Nods of approval were given across the table.

Everyone took part in cleaning the kitchen, and then we all rushed upstairs to our rooms to change into beach attire. But first, I had a few phone calls to make: one to Danielle, Emma, Liam, and Niall, and another to Ryan. I wanted to tell Ryan in person, but I wouldn’t be home for a few more days and it would be unfair to him. In fact, the whole thing was already unfair to him, so I just needed to talk to him. Harry searched through his bag for his swimsuit while I plopped down on the bed to call Danielle.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Danielle! It’s Leah.” I spoke into the phone.

Harry noticed and came to take a seat on the bed beside me. I put the phone on speaker so he could hear.

“Oh, um, hi Leah.” She stumbled across her words, and I knitted my brow. I hated the fact that we just didn’t click when we first met.

“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry for everything - the whole fight, the awkwardness before the fight. I just hope we can have a fresh start!” I waited for her answer, giving Harry a hopeful look.

“Leah, I’m so glad you called! I was going to apologize to you last night, but then everything with Emma happ-“ She cut herself off. “I just hope we can start over too! And I’m so sorry for being rude to you, and judging you before I even knew you.”

I wanted to ask what she meant by everything that happened with Emma, but Emma and I weren’t speaking, so I figured it could wait, and if Emma wanted me to know, she’d tell me.

“Well, how about all four of you come out to the resort today? We’re spending the day on the beach and we’d all love for you to join!”

“We’d absolutely love that!” I could hear her smiling through the phone. “And I’m really glad you and Harry are back together, Leah. You’re perfect together. I wish I would have seen it sooner.”

“Thank you, Danielle!” I smiled at Harry. “Can’t wait to see you!”

“We’ll be over in a bit!” With that, we hung up. It felt good to have things right between Danielle and I, but I couldn’t help but notice the uneasy feeling in my stomach over her accidental remark about Emma. Harry hugged me tight and planted a kiss on my nose.

“I’m going to go tell everyone that the family will be complete today! Leah, I love you more than words can say.” He kissed me on the lips and ran off down the hall.

Okay, one phone call down, one to go. I took a deep breath as I found Ryan’s name on my contact list and pressed the “call” button.
