Life, Cars and Zayn Malik... Wait What?!

Chapter 12: Uh, the weather's nice today

No one’s POV (A/N: haha, if you like awkwardness you’re going to like this chapter. I had to do it with this kind of POV so I could get both of their thoughts out there. I really love you little minions, I swear ;P oh, and to get the full awkwardness, I recommend you actually read the lyrics…) “Hey.” Jamie greeted Zayn as she got into the car. “Hey, looking nice.” Zayn responded, taking in her black skinny jeans and loose, blue shirt. “Boobs are falling out. Not that I'm complaining.” He stated, as she sat down. “Thanks.” She said as she fixed her bra and shirt. You could hear her sucking on her lip, wondering what to say next. “So… how’s your day been?” she asked. “Yeah, it’s been okay. Better now that I’ve seen you though.” Zayn took the cheesy lone approach. “That’s nice.” Jamie responded, clicking her tongue. “How about your day?” he asked. “Well, I haven’t had any children puke on me today so that’s always a good start. And someone is buying me food, so that makes it even better.” She stated. And here comes the first awkward silence. “Wanna listen to some music?” Zayn asked, plugging in his phone. “Sure.” Jamie answered. They both heard the heavy bass and guitar of rock music. ‘I'm in a bar full of bikers and a handful of junkies It's a 50-50 chance that they're planin' to jump me, Anybody drinking here is lucky just to leave here alive Well my favourite little waitress has a hold on my eye, But there's a shotgun loaded hidden under the bar, Her finger's on the trigger, if anybody gets outta line There's other places that are better to go, But I'm addicted to the red light show, Feel like a king and she's my ace in the hole, And I can't get enough of the things that she does She's gonna be, my, midnight queen, Lock 'n' load and I'm ready to go She's gonna lick, my, pistol clean, She's got a hold on me and ain't lettin' go And I can't get enough of the things that sh-’ “Okay, next song.” Jamie stated. Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh… was running through her head at the thought of that song, which was ‘Midnight Queen’ by Nickelback. “Yeah.” Zayn agreed. God damn it, why did my phone choose that song?! Was his thoughts. I don't think this could get anymore awkward… ‘‘I judge by what she's wearing Just how many heads I'm tearing Off of assholes coming on to her Each night seems like it's getting worse And I wish she'd take the night off So I don't have to fight off Every asshole coming on to her It happens every night she works They'll go and ask the DJ Find out just what would she say If they all tried coming on to her Don't they know it's never going to work They think they'll get inside her With every drink they buy her As they all try coming on to her This time somebody's getting hurt Here comes the next contestant Is that your hand on my girlfriend? Is that your hand? I wish you'd do it again I'll watch you leave here limping I wish you'd do it again I'll watch you leave here limping There goes the next contes-’ “Okay, let’s not listen to music…” Jamie trailed off, pausing the song ‘Next Contestant’ which was also by Nickelback. Why do I always have the worst luck with this kind of foshizzle? Her thoughts were jumbled. “Uh, the weather’s nice today.” Zayn stated. “Yeah.” Jamie responded quietly. Zayn cursed at himself mentally, thinking he was damn stupid for using that. “So…” Zayn had trailed off. when conversation was needed, there wasn’t anything to talk about apparently. “I’m going to play music again.” She took the connection out of Zayn’s phone and put it in hers. She chose the song, so it wouldn’t be awkward like it was before. Well, as awkard… ‘It's hard letting go, I'm finally at peace, but it feels wrong, Slow I'm getting up, My hands and feet are weaker than before. And you are folded on the bed Where I rest my head, There's nothing I can see, Darkness becomes me. But I'm already there, I'm already there, Wherever there is you, I will be there too There's nothing that I'd take back, But it's hard to say there's nothing I regret. 'Cause when I sing, you shout, I breathe out loud, You bleed, we crawl like animals, But when it's over, I'm still awake A thousand silhouettes dancing on my chest, No matter where I sleep, you are haunting me But I'm already there, I'm already there. Wherever there is you, I will be there too’ “Now that is a good song.” Jamie told Zayn, clicking her fingers. ‘I’ve figured it out I’ve figured it out from black and white Seconds and hours Baby they had to take some time I know how it goes I know how it goes from wrong to right-’ “Jamie, would that be a One Direction song on your phone?” Zayn asked, smirking. “No.” the song continued playing. ‘You and I We don't wanna be like them We can make it till the end Nothing can come between You and I Not even the stars above Could separate the two of us Nothing can come between You and I’ “I am fairly sure that’s a One Direction song, Jamie.” Zayn stated. “No. You must be mistaken.” She didn’t look at him. “I don't think I am…” he trailed off. “You know how I said you don't let go of things, and you should learn when to stop?” Jamie asked. “Yeah…” Zayn answered. “I don't care if you are wrong or right, but now would be one of those times.” Jamie’s POV “So… how did you manage to get into the V8’s?” Zayn asked. “Uh, well, Mark, or Frosty as I’ll probably call him from now on, his partner Chaz Mostert crashed. Codie had been watching the race, actually, and she was angry. It turns out none of the Dunlop Series racers, in the Pepsi Max Ford team, actually wanted to get into Supercars. So they were looking for a new driver. Management happened to be in Adelaide and were watching the race, they saw Codie and wanted her I suppose. I just tagged along.” I answered, clearing up everything. “So it was pot luck?” he asked. “No. It was Codie’s skill. Now I get to travel Australia and New Zealand with occasional other parts of the world.” I told him. “Sounds like fun.” He said genuinely, I smiled. He really did think what I was doing was cool. “It is.” I responded as we were driving home. “So apparently we’re going to the Adelaide show on Saturday…” I trailed off. “Apparently.” He agreed with me. “Is it fun?” he asked, since he had never been. “Yeah, but it’s money sucking...” I trailed off before I turned and smiled at him. “And?” he doesn’t realise what I am going to do. “That’s what you’re for.” He laughed. “You're kidding right?” he asked, still laughing. “Does it look like I'm kidding?” I asked seriously. “You will be paying, Veronica, or you will regret it.” I told him. “Okay, if you say so.”
