Melanie’s POV

“You live here?!” I shouted, my eyes wide as I examined Harry’s apartment.

“Yeah.” He smiled.

“It’s amazing!” I exclaimed as I stumbled inside.

“You alright there?” Harry chuckled as he placed his hands on my shoulders, steading me.

“Yeah,” I laughed. “I’m just clumsy.”

“Are you exited to see your room?” He asked.

“Hell yeah,” I mumbled and then covered my mouth with my hands.

-“Oops.” I apologized for my slip up.

“It’s alright, babe,” Harry chuckled, making my heart flutter.

He called me babe.

Oh. My. God.

“Come on!” Harry said. “Oh and we have guests for Dinner.”

“What guests?” I questioned as he led me upstairs.

“Louis and Scarlet,” He smiled as I screamed in excitement.

“Yes! Thank you, Harry!” I shouted, my hands wrapping around his torso.

“No problem, love,” He said and pulled me closer. “I’d do anything for you. You are my daughter after all.”

The word ‘daughter’ cut into me like knives; sure, I knew that I was his daughter but I was hoping that I could be so much more.

It’s wrong, I know.

But I’m a sixteen year old girl, I’m strange.

“Umm Harry. Where’s the bathroom?” I whispered.

“Down the hall,” He frowned. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah,” I forced a smile. “I’m peachy. Just peachy.”

I walked down the hall as he had instructed and locked myself in the bathroom.

I had only known Harry for a few days and I had already developed feelings for him.

Ugh. Why did I have to get attached so easily?

I examined myself in the mirror.



Maybe if I was prettier, or had longer hair, or didn’t have glasses, then maybe he would like me.

“Hey, Melanie,” Harry called. “You okay?”

“Yeah!” I called back.

I sniffled and wiped the tears that had managed to escape from my eyes.

“Here goes nothing,” I sighed and opened the bathroom door.
