Starting Over

It All Comes Tumblin' Down

Samy’s POV
Liam and I landed in America a few hours ago, New York City to be exact. I’m completely exhausted. The past few days have been such an emotional rollercoaster. Between finals, finishing my dissertation, graduation, and graduation celebrations I haven’t had a moment to be by myself and think. The wedding is coming up in only 7 months and I haven’t planned a thing. Luckily for me though, my mom, one of my aunts, and my friends are all coming to NYC this weekend so that we can start looking at dresses for everyone. For tonight, however, Liam and I are going to spend a quiet evening in our hotel room eating room service and watching movies.
“Hey Liam, I’m going to grab a quick shower” I say as I grab my shower stuff and underwear and head towards the bathroom. He peeks at me from just over the book he’s reading to look at me playfully before asking
“Would you like some company?”
“Not this time, sorry. I just need some time to myself” I say flatly. I don’t mean to be cruel or push him away, I’m just so tired of being surrounded by people day in and day out and I haven’t even been living his lifestyle for a whole day yet. I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to survive a month (or a lifetime) under the microscope and constant socialization that comes with this man.
“You ok?” Liam asks more concerned now, I must have given my anxious thoughts away on my face. I was never good at hiding my feelings very well. One of my worst (or best) traits.
“Yeh, I was just thinking about stuff. The whole wedding planning is starting to feel overwhelming and I haven’t even started yet. Plus, I was really hoping to start job searching and applications and interviews” I answer honestly. I hope he understands my stress and doesn’t mistake it for my being ungrateful for the chance to be with him and travel.
“It’ll all be ok, love. Just take one thing at a time. You can search for and apply to jobs even while you’re over here. It’s called the computer and internet. As far as the wedding goes, you know that I, and everyone else, will help you with whatever you need. Don’t stress, love” he answers caringly. He really is the best.
“Thanks” I say, and close the door to the bathroom, locking it behind me.
Last night turned out to be ok, after all. Surprisingly, none of the boys came bugging us at all. I guess everyone was tired, so Liam and I got to watch a movie and head to bed early. The boys have a concert today and are in sound check and meet and greets all day so El and I decided to go do some shopping on our own. After about the 6th store, people were starting to recognize us. The crowd around us was growing exponentially by the minute. As El and I made our way out of the 8th store, the crowd began to get rowdy. Everyone began pushing and yelling for a chance to meet and talk to us, the famous girlfriends of 1D. El and I were about to cross the road, when I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. Before I could regain my balance, my knees were giving out and girls were screaming, right as a set of squealing car brakes and a thud were heard. My world went black and I drifted off into the land of the unknown.
LIAM’s POV
“That sounded really good today, guys. I think Zayn and I should harmonize like that from now on, what do you think?” I ask enthusiastically. Our sound is getting better every day as our voices continue to even out and we continue to explore ourselves musically.
“I agree” Zayn answers, just as excited as I am.
“Liam, isn’t that Paul? Why is he here already? We still have another few hours before meet and greets” Louis asks curiously. “Besides, I thought he was with El and Samy but I don’t see either of them” he continues.
“Boys” Paul nods to us as he approaches slowly. “Liam, mate, we need to talk.” Those are words no man likes to hear. I nod my head and start towards the stairs before noticing that all the lads are following me.
“You can tell us all” Zayn states flatly.
“El and Samy were out shopping today, as you know” anxiety begins to fill my soul, what’s happened to them? “There was a mob and I lost sight of them after we left one of the stores. I’m so sorry, Liam, Samy’s been taken to hospital. She was hit by a car. They pushed her, Liam, the girls pushed her. I’m sure it was an accident, but Samy needs you to go to her now” He says almost in tears, the guilt washing over him like a ton of bricks falling from the sky.
“Is she alive?” is all I can ask between gritted teeth.
“Yes, but she’s hurt”
“Take me there, NOW!” I yell as I sprint towards the door. The boys and I pile into the van out front and head towards the hospital. The van hadn’t even stopped before I threw the door open and bolted towards the entrance.
“May I help you?” the emergency room attendant asks, a bit too cheerfully.
“I’m Liam Payne, my fiancé, Samantha Gheri, is here and I need to know what’s happened” I state bluntly.
“I’m afraid she’s in surgery. I’m sorry but that’s really all that I can tell you right now” she says.
“Do you know what the surgery is for?” I press for more details. If someone is cutting my fiancé open, they better damn well explain why.
“She broke her leg in 5 places, they are working on resetting the bones right now” she replies, cautiously. I think I’m frightening her.
“Thank you for letting me know” I reply, attempting to be nicer. I take a seat next to Harry who looks like he’s about to melt down any moment. All the boys look very upset but Harry looks the worst. I glance over towards Louis and see him consoling Eleanor. She and I make eye contact but she looks away quickly. Unable to look me in the eye for more than a second.
“Eleanor, come here, love” I say to her. She hesitantly leaves the safety and comfort of Louis’ arms to sit beside me. I pull her into a hug immediately as she begins to cry hysterically.
“I’mmmm sooo soorrry” she says in bursts between tears.
“Shhhh, El, it’s ok. It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself. I should have made more security go with you guys” I say, blaming myself instead.
“You know as well as I do, we never would have let that happen” she giggles quietly. She’s right, they had had enough of a fit knowing that Paul was going. About 4 hours later, the nurse finally said the words that I’ve been longing to hear.
“Mr. Payne? Samy is awake. The doctor would like to talk to you both in Samy’s room.” Nerves run through me as I follow her down a hallway and into an elevator up to the 6th floor. The nurse swipes her ID as we head behind a set of doors labeled, VIP: PRIVATE. After walking through another set of hallways, we enter Samy’s room. That’s when I see her lying in bed broken, damaged, bandaged. I take a deep breath, try to must a smile as the tears fall from my eyes. She’s alive. Just focus on that. She’s alive.

Notes

Let me know what you think. Kind of a cliche chapter, lol.

@BeautifulMistakes
Maybe. I think you did a wonderful job regardless and if I had of known you needed a co-author I would have asked to help. I think your writing is wonderful.

@electrichearts

I honestly didn't know what else to write and I needed a co-owner. I still stand by the ending but I think there could have been a lot more to the story if I had had help.

I just spent the last hour and a half reading through all this! You had me hooked. I can't believe it's over :(
