Give me love like this

Chapter 8

Codi's POV

Shit. Did I seriously just wink at Liam Payne? Like a 12 year old? Of course I wanted to have that kind of fun with Liam, but were from two different worlds. What is wrong with me! Maggie and I had already changed into dry swimsuits and grabbed some summer dresses to put on over our suits. I was so excited to snorkel. We were taking a catamaran to some reefs, exploring, then taking the boat out into open water and just relaxing in the ocean. How awesome is that?

We make it to lunch and see everyone is already there, even Liam. Were all sitting at a large table, our parents are all talking to each other, Geoff is on one side, dad is sitting next to him at the end of the table, mom on the other side (so she's opposite of Geoff) and Karen is sitting next to her. Nicola and Ruth are next to their mom. Liam is sitting next to his dad, so that leaves an empty seat next to liam and then an empty seat opposite of my dad at the end of the table. I look over at Maggie who raises her eyebrows at me and quickly sets her phone down at the end of the table. Leaving me sitting next to Liam. How tricky of her. Brat.

Everyone has already grabbed plates and are all in conversation. Were only a few minutes late, everyone must have met early. Maggie and I fill up our plates, I grab some Mexican chicken (at least that's what it says it is!) smothered in cheese, salsa, and jalapenos, and some rice. I hope it's spicy, I love spicy food. They have amazing juice with all the fresh fruit they grow around here so I take a glass of some strawberry pineapple juice and make my way back to the table and sit down.

“So Liam tells me you two surf?” Nicola asks as she bites into some cheesecake. I didn't see any cheesecake, I'll have to make a second trip.

“Yeah! Were not crazy good or anything, our uncle lives in LA and so whenever we go there we always spend a lot of time in the water.” I state as I take a large drink of my juice. “You ever been?” I ask.

Nicola starts laughing. “No way! I'm hardly coordinated enough to stand on my own sometimes let alone surf in the open water.”

“Well if you're ever in LA at the same time I am, I can teach you!” I say, it would be fun to hang out with everyone again.

“I'd love that, maybe we can all take a trip out there sometime.” Nicola says genuinely interested. I really do like Liam's family, they just seem to fit in with our family so easily.

I start eating my chicken and realize it's quite spicy, and my juice isn't helping my tongue.

“Wow! This is much more spicy then I thought.” I say to no one in particular.

“Is it good? I was going to get some but I didn't quite know how it would taste, it looks weird.” Maggie ask. We both love spicy food.

“It's good, here try some.” I say as I offer my plate over to her to grab a piece of chicken I had already cut up. I turn to Liam, “You want some? It's really good!'

He hesitates and says, “I don't like spicy food, it doesn't agree with me.”

“Seriously? Oh my goodness, I love spicy food. In fact, Maggie and I used to eat jalapenos for lunch, nothing else.” I could see Liam cringe as I say it.

“Oh, no thank you. I could never.” He say's as he stretches his arms up and arches his back.

“Well I'm going to get some water, anyone need anything while I'm up?” I ask as I scoot my chair back and look around. No one says anything so I go grab some water for myself and come back.

I finish my food as does everyone else and my dad gets up, “Well, everyone ready to go?” He says as he claps his hands together. Always the ringleader.

We all get up and Liam and I bump into each other, he grabs my arm so I don't fall over.

“Sorry, guess we need to pay attention more!” He says as he lets go of my arm.

“Yeah, we apparently don't notice anything” I say with a laugh as I bump into him on purpose.

We make our way towards the lobby which isn't far away from the eating area, Liam is slightly behind me and I feel his hand guide me with the rest of everyone. My breath catches as we all sit down on a bench waiting for the bus to take us to the boat, Liam's arm still around my waist. I look over at him and smile, he's apparently been smiling at me. I like this.

Notes

Sorry I didn't update yesterday, I coach a traveling soccer team and we were gone literally all day. Not the best chapter, more of a filler but it seems Liam and Codi are getting a wee bit more comfortable with each other! :)

@Louis girl

I'm glad you liked it! I probably could have kept going but I didn't want a story that just dragged on and on!

@Emmy2320
I knew you probably wouldn't like the ending, but there is hope in the last section! I'm not exactly opposed to a sequel, I just don't have any idea where I would go with it as of right now. :) I'm working on a new one right now and I'll let everyone know on here when I post it!

I really enjoyed this story even if I am a little sad that they didn't get together! You are an amazing writer and I love that this wasn't a typical story. A sequel would be wonderful but I understand if you don't want to write one! I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future! :)
