Chapter 30

Codi's POV

Maggie and Michael had dragged me to the pool. I wanted to see Mimi and Papi but mom and dad had taken them out for the morning and we were planning on meeting up with them this evening. I had finally caught up on sleep, I slept pretty much all day yesterday, ordered room service for dinner, and slept till this morning. I was beyond exhausted yesterday. That and the fact that Maggie had planned for us to stay in Liam's hotel all along, I was not in the mood to be around anyone. Now we had four days to make the most of our trip.

I wasn't mad at Liam at all anymore. A little about the fact that he had resources to contact me and didnt, but I was more mad at myself for not listening to Liam when he tried to tell me the truth. As much as I wanted to face him and apologize, I didn't know if I was strong enough to actually face him. Knowing he was in close proximity didn't help either.

I was laughing as Michael pushed Maggie in the pool, playfully of course. He's pretty strong, I'm sure it would have only taken a finger to push her over. I laughed at them as they splashed around and around. I heard some commotion at the doors and see him. I'm sure this is a set up, I'm sure that Maggie had text Liam to let him know we were up here. Then I see Niall, Zayn, and Harry behind him. I look away but out of the corner of my eye I see them make their way around the pool to an open area. Great. Sitting right across from me.

Maggie gets out of the pool and grabs the towel sitting next to me.

“You texted him didnt you?' I accuse.

“Of course I did. You two should talk, and Michael wants to meet him.” She stated like it was no big deal.

“Damn it Maggie. Why do you do this shit?” I ask as I stand up hastily and grab my stuff. Maggie grabs my arm and prevents me from moving.

“Don't do this Codi. Don't run away from this again. You have to face this. You have to fix things. Now is your chance. Do not regret this.” She whispers to me.

I relax and put my stuff down. She's right. I sit on the edge of my chair and get the courage to look at him.

He's talking to Zayn. They're smoking. Well that's gross. He didn't do that in Aruba, and I don't like it.

I see Niall behind him say something to him and point to me. I keep my courage and don't look away. Liam looks down before looking at me, his eyes squinting. They're all looking at me. Security, Zayn, Harry, Niall, well this isn't awkward at all.

A slight smile forms on my lips as I look away and scoot to the back of my chair and adjust my sunglasses.

I watch out of my shielded eyes and see Liam get up and walk around the pool edge towards me.

“Hi Codi.” I hear him speak to me.

“Hey Liam. Have a seat.” I pat the chair next to me that suppose to be Maggie's but I'll give it up for her.

He sits down carefully looking across the pool and I see Zayn looking at him and nodding. He lets out a sign.

“So how have you been?” He asks. “Is school out already?”

“Um, no, its over in a few weeks. I just took a few days to see my grandparents, we have Monday and Tuesday off. And I'm good. You?”

He laughs.

“I've been better. But according to the press I've just broken up with Sophia, and I'm extremely upset about that.” He smiles.

“And you're not?” I ask.

“About Sophia? No a bit. I think you know who I'm broken up about Codi.” He says as he leans back in his seat, laying his arms out and looking down.

“Look, Liam. I'm so sorry for the things I said to you when you came to LA. I just had to say it. I'd kept it in for so long, pushing it away-”

“Just stop.” He says as he puts a hand up. I've ruined it all. “You don't have to apologize at all. This was all on me. I left that day because I couldn't stand to see your face so broken like that. It's been haunting my dreams. I can't sleep at night. I thought it would be better if I wasn't around you, or even in the same country as you.”

“Well it was a shock to see you that day. But I'm glad you came. I needed to let it out. But I didn't realize how I had missed you.” I almost whisper that last part, hoping he didn't hear it but when I turn and see his face, I know he had.

“I missed you more then you would ever believe Codi.” He smiles at me. “Can we-can we start over? Like all the way over.”

The one thing I've never been one to want to hear is the only thing that has put my heart back together.

“Yes. Oh, please God yes.” I beg.

Liam sticks his hand out, "Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Liam Payne."

I giggle as I lean out to shake his hand, "And I'm Codi Jensen. And yes, It can be used as a girls name."

“Good. So, you want to meet my friends?” He asks as he stands up and puts his hand out.

“Um, sure? I guess. I don't have anything to put over my swim suit though.” I bit my lip trying to think.

“I wouldn't worry about it, you look fantastic. I'd say red is your color.” He smirks as he grabs my hand to take me around the pool. I'm sure my cheeks match the color of my suit.

I look over at Maggie and Michael in the pool staring at me. I give Maggie a wink as a huge smile appears on her lips and she turns to whisper into Michael's. I have no clue what she's saying but he looks at me and nods. I'm assuming its good.

“So, Codi, meet Harry, Zayn, and Niall. You've already met them on camera when we used to talk but now in person. Guys, this is Codi.” He says as he makes a dramatic display with his hands pointing me out. I'm sure I'm blushing.

“Hi!” I say with a slight wave. I have no idea why I'm nervous I've talked to them all before but I've never met them in person, but I want to make a good impression on Liam's friends he talks so highly about.

“Hi Codi!”
Niall says first. “I met you when you were in Aruba, you took Liam away to play on the beach!” He states enthusiastically as he extends his hand for me to shake it.

“I remember! Nice to meet you again Niall.” I smile.

“HI, I'm Zayn. What are you doing in Brazil?” He asks.

“Oh, my grandparents live here. Have since before I were born. We try to visit as often as we can, and this is our year. I had no idea you guys would be here, this is all a plan from Liam and my sister.” I say as I turn and point out Maggie in the pool.

“And don't forget about me. I'm Harry!” He smiles at me.

“Hello Harry.” I simply nod and smile back.

“So are you coming to the show tonight?” Asks Zayn.

“Oh, no. I didn't have plans to, and I got here yesterday but I haven't seen my grandparents yet so tonight were all going to their house for a Brazilian dinner. My mimi is the best cook.” My stomach growls in anticipation. Liam seems a little disappointed but he know's what I'm here for.

“Will you come to a show sometime?” Harry pipes in from behind the chairs.

“Uh, sure. I live in LA so whenever you guys come my way I guess, I'll do what I can.” I exclaim.

“You live in LA?” Niall asks. “I thought you lived in Minnesota.”

“Ah, yes, well I am from Minnesota originally, but I got a job out in LA and now I live there with my uncle Jai by Santa Monica.” I suddenly miss home.

“Right. What do you do?” Zayn asks. He seems to not like me very much. I don't know if its the fact that he knows about everything that's happened with Liam and I, or if it's just how he is.

“I teach history to high schoolers. I'm almost done with my first year, I'll teach another year and then start my Masters in Ancient Civilizations.” I see as their eyes look to pop out of their heads.

“Wow, history?” Niall asks. “I wish I had you as a history teacher. I might have stayed in school.”

“Watch it Niall!” Liam looks sharply at Niall.

I start giggling.

“What? It's true. All my history teachers were old, bald, fat men who picked their noses and couldn't look us in the eye.”

I'm still laughing. “Anything to keep kids in school I guess.” I say between laughs.

“Are you coming to the party?” Harry asks.

“What party?” I look at Liam for explanation.

“Oh, well the hotel is having a roof top party tomorrow night for us, we found out about it this morning. I haven't gotten to ask you if you wanted to go with me yet.” Liam explains as he almost glares at Harry.

“Um, I'll have to see what the plans are with my family. No offense guys, but they're the reason I'm down here, they come first.” I fidget with my fingers and the straps on the sides of my bikini.

“We understand! We would always choose our families if we could.” Niall explains.

“Well, it was fantastic meeting you guys, but I'd better get back to my sister and her boyfriend. Good luck tonight, see you guys around?” I say, suddenly anxious to wrap up this conversation.

“Bye Codi!” They all say in unison. I hold back a giggle as Liam walks with me to the other side of the pool.

“So.” He starts. Always with the so.

“So?” I ask, trying to get this conversation going.

“So I have a show tonight obviously. We won't be done until like 10, then we won't get back here till 11. You going to be up?” He questions.

“Um, I don't know. Sometimes we stay up late and Mimi and Papis and sometimes they go to bed early. It's the first night I'll be seeing them though, so we might get in late. Text me?” I ask. “You have my correct phone number now right?” I giggle as I remember what my sister had said earlier.

“Yes I do, but let me run it by you just to make sure.” He spouts off my number and I confirm. “What hotel room are you in? Just in case I don't text you before we get back, I can just ring you.” He says.

“Um, I'm in room 1027. Maggie is number 1029, just in case you forget or would rather hang out with my sassy sister and soon to be brother in law.” I laugh. I can't help but to giggle when I'm around him.

“Soon to be brother?” He questions with an eyebrow raised. “They getting married soon?”

“Oh, no. Not even engaged yet, but I know they'll get married. Just look at them.” I say as I peek at my sister and Michael as they're still splashing around and playing in the pool.

“Liam! We have to go!” An middle aged man yells from the doorway.

“Shit!” He mutters. “I gotta go, um, tomorrow we have a lot of radio/tv interviews so I don't know how much we'll be able to hang out. But, I'll call you tonight either way and we'll figure out tomorrow.” He yells at the end as he's being dragged out by the man. Before he goes out the door he blows a kiss towards me with a giant smile.

I have him back. Lidi is back. Well, maybe.

Now to talk to my sister, who has this look on her face that only a sister understands. I have to spill it all.

@Louis girl

I'm glad you liked it! I probably could have kept going but I didn't want a story that just dragged on and on!

@Emmy2320
I knew you probably wouldn't like the ending, but there is hope in the last section! I'm not exactly opposed to a sequel, I just don't have any idea where I would go with it as of right now. :) I'm working on a new one right now and I'll let everyone know on here when I post it!

I really enjoyed this story even if I am a little sad that they didn't get together! You are an amazing writer and I love that this wasn't a typical story. A sequel would be wonderful but I understand if you don't want to write one! I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future! :)
