Chapter 11

Liam's POV
Monday

I awake to the sounds of waves crashing. I look over and discover I left the balcony doors open. Last night Ruth and Nicola and I just stayed in my suite and watched movies. I got some pizza from one of the food huts and we just hung out like old times. It was nice and relaxing. Now that I look over I notice that we left pizza out everywhere and the tv is still on. I laugh to myself and crawl out of bed turning off the tv and peeking into Nicola and Ruth's room. They're both still passed out, and surprisingly enough don't wake up when I turn around and run into the door frame.

I quickly realize I'm starving. I grab some shoes, pull on a t-shirt, and grab my card key. I make it to breakfast, it's already quite warm outside, should be another good day to catch some sun. As I'm walking up I notice Codi, sitting alone at a table for two. She's reading a book, looks so peaceful. I look around and don't notice anyone from her family so I make my way towards her.

“Morning beautiful.” I say before I realize what I'm saying. Word vomit. Not like it's not the truth I just don't want to make her uncomfortable, I've only known her like two days.

She looks up at me from her book, wearing glasses. That's sexy.

“Hey Liam. How are you feeling?” She asks genuinely concerned as she pushes her glasses up her nose and a smile creeps over her face.

“Feeling pretty good, Ruth and Nicola and I stayed in and watched movies, we all fell asleep after watching the first one. You already eat breakfast?” I notice she doesn't have any food, just her book.

“Oh, no, I was going to but I decided to start this book instead. I'm a little bit of a book worm.” She giggles to herself.

“What are you reading?” I try to sneak a peek, probably some trashy romance novel like all the girls I know her age read.

“Don't make fun of me. Its a history book, “A Journal of the Plague Year.” She states. Wow, she really is a book nerd. I just start laughing.

“What's so funny?” She looks at me.

“It's just funny, you're on holiday and your reading a book about death. That's exciting. Come on, lets get breakfast.” I reach my hand out to pull her up, she marks her spot in her book and joins me.

After we've finished most of our food, we continue to sit and talk.

“Favorite movie?” I ask.

“Um, I don't know if I have a favorite, The Impossible is a pretty good one in my book right now. You?”

“Toy Story.” I reply, instant laughter from the other side of the table.

“Seriously?” She asks between fits of laughter.

“Its a good movie! About friendship and loyalty.” I ramble.

“And cartoons...” she mutters under her breath. “What's are your plans for the day?” she asks as she polishes of her juice.

“I don't know, my parents slept all day from yesterday, pretty sure they were still sleeping when I woke up, same with my sisters. Maybe just hang out at the beach, swim in the ocean. You?”

“No plans yet, Maggie was skyping Michael and I'm pretty sure my parents are still asleep as well.” She replies as she leans back and crosses her legs.

“Whose Michael?” I ask as I clean up our table.

“Oh, that's Maggie's boyfriend. They've been together for a few months, madly in love, some love at first sight bullshit.” She says as she waves her hands in the air.

“You don't believe in love at first sight?” I ask, not that I had that with Codi, but it was lust at first sight, maybe growing to something more.

“I don't know, its all a little too Disney to me, but I'm sure if it happens to me I'll change my mind. Want to explore?” She asks as she stands up and grabs her book.

“Sure.” I stand up and follow behind her, the tables are a little tight so I have to stay behind her until we get out of the eating area. I can't help but notice her arse. Once were out I join her side and she elbows me, I elbow her back as she starts laughing, suddenly I get the urge to hold her hand. When she comes back to my side I grab it quickly and lace my fingers with hers. She abruptly stops in her tracks.

“What are you doing?” She asks, but hasn't let go of my hand.

“What do you mean?” Do I really have to explain it?

“What is this? Friends don't hold hands like this.” She explains to me as she looks down and puts our hands up.

“I don't know what you want me to say.” I'm still trying to hide my feelings just a little bit.

“The truth would be nice.” We shuffle off the path onto a bench nearby, still holding hands.

“Well, Codi, I like you. Like more than a friend. I know it's weird because we've only known each other for like a day but I don't know.” This is probably making no sense to her, it's not making a lot of sense to me.

She looks down, takes her hand away from mine and brushes it through her hair. Great, I've just made an arse out of myself. She's looking down but slowly turns her head towards mine and looks up.

“I like you too Liam. Like you how you like me. I just didn't think you'd go for a girl like me.”

I'm a little shocked.

“Girl like you? You mean a beautiful, hilarious, genuine girl like you? Yep, wouldn't fall for someone like that at all.” I laugh out. “Are you serious?”

“You know what I mean. A girl from Minnesota, whose a teacher. Never been out of the country except to Rio and Aruba. You've traveled the world, I've read history books. I just didn't want to get my hopes up.” She shrugs her shoulders.

“Well, apparently my feelings don't have a switch that regulates who I like and if they've traveled the world like I have. I'm just a regular guy, telling a beautiful girl that I like her and waiting to see what happens next.” I close my eyes and silently pray she feel the same way or I've just made everything so awkward.

“So what do we do now? You live in London, I live in Minnesota. I'm sure you've noticed the large ocean between us.” She finds my hand again and laces it with mine.

“How about we just take this week as it comes and go from there?” I suggest, I haven't really thought about the distance.

“I'm okay with that. But we are leaving early Friday.” Shit, it's already Monday. Meaning we have three days to see what happens.

“Okay, um, well.” I really don't know what to say.

“There you are!” We both turn to see Maggie walking down the path. “I've been looking all over for you!”

“Where have you been looking? Our building is right there and were right here.” Codi states.

“Well, I looked in our room, mom and dads room, and the elevator. Obviously.” She says with a chuckle. “What's this I see, holding hands, humm?” She smiles and just looks at us, waiting for an explanation. I can feel Codi's hand start to sweat.

“Um, we talked.” That's all Codi said.

“And?” This girl just does not give up.

“And were going to see what happens, we've admitted we like each other and were just going from there.” I take over, Codi looks too nervous to say anything.

“Finally!” Maggie throws her hands in the air and joins us on the bench. Finally? I'm assuming they've had this discussion about us then. Not that I haven't had a similar one with Ruth.

“So what are our plans for the day?” Codi asks.

“Oh! That's why I was coming to find you, we're all going para sailing today!” She exclaims.

"All of us?" I ask to clarify.

“Oh well, yeah, your mom called our mom this morning and they made the plans. If you haven't noticed, our parents are bff like right away. Apparently not the only thing that happened quickly.” She mutters that last statement with a smirk. “We leave around noon, we'll be back in time for dinner. Mom wants us all to dress up and do the fancy thing.”

“Oh yay, the fancy thing.” Codi says with just a hint of sarcasm. “Hey, have you thought about what were doing for your birthday?”

“When's your birthday, Maggie?” This is the first I've heard of this.

“Tomorrow, I'll be 19!” Extremely excited.

“You two are really close in age!” I realize, doing the math.

“Yeah, I turned one in December, and Maggie was born a few months later in March, were 15 months apart. So what are you doing?” Codi asks Maggie again.

“I don't know, I don't really want to go off site, probably just eat here, have lots of drinks, and hang out on the beach with everyone. Nothing exciting, skype and miss Michael. Its my first birthday we would have celebrated together and I'm here.” She says just a little sad.

“Don't worry about it Maggie, he can make it up to you later and you'll have plenty of other birthdays to celebrate together.” Codi says as she shoulder bumps Maggie.

“You guys want to join me for breakfast? I know you already ate, but don't make me eat alone!” She pleads.

Codi looks to me to see what we should do. “Sure, I can always eat some more.”

@Louis girl

I'm glad you liked it! I probably could have kept going but I didn't want a story that just dragged on and on!

@Emmy2320
I knew you probably wouldn't like the ending, but there is hope in the last section! I'm not exactly opposed to a sequel, I just don't have any idea where I would go with it as of right now. :) I'm working on a new one right now and I'll let everyone know on here when I post it!

I really enjoyed this story even if I am a little sad that they didn't get together! You are an amazing writer and I love that this wasn't a typical story. A sequel would be wonderful but I understand if you don't want to write one! I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future! :)
