The dusk of dawn

Chater Two

I smiled at my Mam who waked smartly into the school. The only bad thing bout this is that she is going to be my English teacher. I'll have to ace that class.
My three brothers, Ed, Max and Dylan. Dylan's my favourite out of all three. He's very like me, except less obsessed with history. He full of jokes and is always smiling. Although he usually is very popular, he'll always notice the people who he loves. Even if it seems uncool. He's so loyal. I love him very much. He's not over protective, if I have a boyfriend he will sus him out a it but he'll then back down. Only if he's decent. Luckily, I've only had one boyfriend who was very sweet. We only lasted for a year though.
Back in Manchester , I hadn't been very popular but neither had James really. He was the outcast. That's why I loved him. He hadn't been like the others. They used girls for a few weeks and then left. He stayed. We only broke up because of the big move. It really broke my heart, but it was going to happen anyway.

"So are you all excited?" My mother chirped. Ed groaned.
"You and Maya, always awake! Always happy!" He put on a girly voice. Mam scowled him. I just shook my head.

"Now here we are! What do you think?" we stood in front of a white modern building. It was big enough I suppose. Nice enough.
We entered the school and I looked around. The lockers were green, yellow and blue. Weird.

"Well, come on the secretary's office is up here" My mother trotted ahead. I felt a bit self conscious, looking around for any reflection that I could look in.
Ed caught up with me.
" How's it going?" He muttered. I smiled back.
"Alright" I replied with a shrug. He sighed.
"It's going to be weird with Mam as our English teacher, right?" I looked at my feet.
"I suppose" I muttered. A pretty girl with dark brown hair and a pale complexion stared at us, unsure. Ed stared back, smitten.
"Ed!" I hit him on the shoulder. He turned back to me massaging his shoulder, frowning.
"What?"
"It's rude to stare!" I hissed.
"Oh yeah, well it's not when you're checking them out. I mean look at her! She's soooooo ho-"

"Ah here we are!" My mother cut him off. We all fell silent.
The secretary was a cheery young woman with red hair wearing a tight suit. Max's mouth dropped open. I rolled my eyes. This is getting annoying! Dylan seemed to be the only brother who wasn't staring at her.
A bell went off and soon the hall was swarmed with teenagers all wearing the same uniform. I smiled at some of them but they just glared back.
"Yeesh!" I made a face. I could hear a chuckle and I knew it was Dylan.
We were handed our timetables and forms and made our way to English behind Mam.
All the rest of the other students just stared at us like we were aliens or something.
"What's their problem?" Dylan came up behind me. I shrugged.

After reaching English class we all sat down. I took my place by the window.
The class began filling in, everyone taking there place.
All the girls were checking Max out and all the girls who seemed to be the popular group, surrounded him, giggling and flicking their hair.
This is going to be a long day.
