The dusk of dawn

Chapter One

The trees began whispering, swaying slightly. A shiver ran down my back, like an ice cold finger sliding down my spine. I heard a crack. Frightened, I spun round to see what it was. Another snap of a tree branch. A figure stepped out from behind the trees. I squinted, trying to see it's face. I then realised it was wearing a hood.
"Who a-are you?" My voice was shaking in fear. I didn't want to be here.
"You're not like the others" It whispered.
"Sorry, eh, but I don't have a clue what you are talking about. I have no idea where I am so if you could just help me get out of here that would be um, great-"
"Save your light while you still can" It whispered. It's voice sort of sounded like the trees which were swaying harder now. Swish, swush, swish, swush.
"Get out! Go! Go while you still can!" It began coming closer. I began backing away, wanting to run.

"Your time is nearly up! Go!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I shot up, the sweat pouring off me. Oh great, reality! I let out a groan as I pulled the covers off me. That dream was quite strange. Then I remembered where we where. In our new
house. It wasn't big but it wasn't small either. My bedroom was nice and comfy but that didn't ease the pain of leaving my old house behind. This place, Hawthorn Creek, seems pretty cool and interesting. I must drop down to the local library and check out it's history. Oh well, for now I'm going for a shower. I opened the door of my wardrobe and grabbed some underwear. I walked to the bathroom and picked out a towel. I hoped in to the shower and switched it on.

After my pleasurable shower, I changed into my new uniform.

It wasn't that nice but I'd have to wear it anyway. I grabbed my schoolbag that was filled with my new school books. A part of me was actually excited about today.

"Why are you so excited? There's nothing to be excited about" My brother, Ed groaned at my good humor. I smiled though.
