-Luke’s POV-

There is so much tension in this elevator that I think the air could burst.

Ashton and I stand in silence as we wait to reach the floor. I dare not to speak to him, how long did he think his little ‘secret’ would stay safe? And to hurt his only love Aly, he must have some nerve if he thinks he loves Rihannah just as much as he did to Aly.

Rihannah uses him for money and he doesn’t even see it. Just like he won’t see my fist when it punches him in the jaw-

*DING*
the elevator stops on the floor and interrupts me from my thoughts.

As I step out of the elevator Ash grabs me by the arm and holds me back

“What is your deal today? Why are you being so pissy?”

“Don’t ask me those questions; you are the one in the wrong here.” I sassed back and walked down the hall and into the meeting room to see Calum and Michael and a frowning Max.

“Shall we begin boys?” Max asks, and then everything else is a blur.

**

“Hey Aly, is this a bad time?” I ask as I re-enter her apartment for the second time today.

As soon as the meeting was over I rushed over here, not even caring to speak to Ash.

“No, it’s fine, I asked you to come back anyway” she smiles. I don’t know how it’s possible for her to look happy on the outside but be broken on the inside.

She and I were always close. I’d always see her at Ashton’s, smiling as we rehearsed our songs, and we were just always really close friends.
Well close until Ashton came back to Michael’s place, the day we were getting signed and told us that Aly didn’t want to come to New York and be with Ash. What a fucking liar...

“So how was the meeting?” she asks as I pick up the little curly-haired girl in my hands, and rock Mia back and forth earning a sweet smile.

“Good, just the usual”

Aly runs off to the kitchen, or the other side of the room, as her place is about one room big, and retrieves milk for Mia.

There is a knock at the door and a yell ‘I’ll get it’ to Aly letting her know I got it.

“Luke… what is this?” Ash asked gesturing to his daughter just as I say ‘what are you doing here.”

“Luke who is it?” Aly’s voice rings through and she is now standing in front of Ash, and I see their eyes lock, finally after all these years.

“A-Ash? Ashton? What are you doing here? What’s he doing here Luke?” she asks

“Is this…?” he trails of, gesturing to the girl in my arms and she nodded.

Yep, that’s his daughter.

-Ashton’s POV-

Aly eyes lock on mine, but she quickly looks away. She looks like hell.

Her ripped jeans and converse and plain t-shirt, with a frown on her face is not the Aly I remember seeing. Not one ounce of makeup lies on her face and she still looks beautiful. Then a sparkle hits my eyes, as the reflection of her bracelet takes my attention.

ALY’S OUTFIT

she still kept it, over all these years and what I did to her, she kept it.

I couldn’t help but allow a small smile to spread across my lips before Rihannah crossed my mind, and I snapped back to my straight face. This was Aly’s fault, she shouldn’t have gotten pregnant in the first place.

I ran a hand through my hair, shaking my head. This was all wrong, so terribly wrong. This was a terrible idea to follow.

“I think it would be best…” I trailed off pointing behind me to the door.

“Nope, no way. If it’s okay with you Aly, I’ll go wait in your room with Mia, you Ash, are not getting out of this one anytime soon. Make things right, or else.” He whispered the last part to me and I tried to scoff but my breath got caught in my throat.

Luke didn’t wait for confirmation from Aly before taking her daughter, our daughter, into another room as Aly let out a shaky breath, taking a seat on the battered couch.

“Um, hi,” I started off. This was going to be the most awkward conversation of my life.

“You can go Ash, you wanted nothing to do with us before so why would you now?” She sounded so small and tired, like she was past caring. This was not the girl I love.
Love? Get it right, we are talking past tense here.

“I like being alive.” I told her with a slight chuckle hoping to lift some of the tension but she wouldn’t even make eye contact with me.

“I can deal with Luke, just go Ash.” But there was just something anchoring me to my standing position.

“No, Aly.”

“What do you mean no? You left me when I found out I was pregnant. Then, not only had I become a disgrace to you but also my parents and some of our other friends. I had to leave the god forsaken country hoping to escape my mistakes and regrets, not that Mia was one of them. I just wish I had of been more careful, it was all my fault wasn’t it. You don’t even deserve to have met your child, I think you were right when you said that you weren’t ready to be a good father. Nothing has changed and I think you should go.” She had changed from upset to sarcastic to angry during the space of about a minute and I was feeling a little bit scared.

“I was excited Aly, my dreams were coming true, I was blinded by that over the fact that we could have been a family. I think you should know that now that you are here again in my life that I’m not going away, for our daughter. I’m sure you’ve moved on, and you’ve probably seen me and my girlfriend in the tabloids but after seeing her, seeing what I helped to create, there’s something in me that can’t let that go.” There was something seriously wrong with my brain to mouth filter, but then again I was always this way around Aly, I could never hide anything from her despite the fact that I was sometimes in denial about it.

“I don’t want her growing up without a father, but she deserves someone who will love her and care for her with their everything, someone who will never leave.” The emphasis on the last word had me gulping and breaking my gaze from her harsh stare. Cries carried through the thin walls and Aly was immediately in action. “You really should go Ash.” I let out a sigh, this really wasn’t getting us anywhere.

“I can see you are busy now but I will be back, for Mia. I promise.” She scoffed, rolling her eyes as she ushered me out the door, slamming it behind me.
I slid down the wall next to her door thinking over today’s events, trying to push memories from our past to the back of my mind. This was more than I could have ever imagined, and I have no idea what I am going to do now.
