Back for You
• Chapter 3 •
-Aly’s POV-
“She should stay asleep now,” I tell Luke, as he waits in the small kitchen of the place I call home.
He left Calum and Michael behind to follow me home, demanding for the truth.
I have been attempting to put Mia to sleep before telling Luke anything, and now that she has, I don’t know what to think.
“So..?” Luke starts.
“So.... so what? I’ve said all that I’ve needed to say.”
“Why did you dump Ashton? He was so heartbroken. He told us he was going to ask you to move to New York with us and you just broke him instead.”
“Luke, I have already told you. Ashton left us.” I told him with a sigh.
“Us?”
I took a deep breath for what feels like the 10th time today “Ashton left when he found out that I was pregnant with Mia.”
Luke’s mouth opens but then closes again. “So, Mia is really his daughter?”
“No, I just like to lie about these things. It’s not like she has slightly blonde curly hair, and those piercing green eyes or anything.” I said sarcastically.
It hurt me to look at her. Every time I did, I would see him.
“But that means you would have been pregnant at-“
“16,” I answer before him.
“So, he left you pregnant at the age of 16, all by yourself?” he asks in disbelief and I nod “What about your parents?”
Luke’s tone has changed drastically since he found out the truth.
“They wanted nothing to do with me, I had a bit of money saved up from working so I moved here, and then it was just me, struggling to feed myself and keep a roof over my head.”
“Then what?” Luke pushes for more detail about this whole situation.
“Well, when I was 4 months, I met Renata and her friend Cece and they both helped me until Mia’s birth. They were the ones in the delivery room that day, not my parents or Mia’s father. Luckily for me, Cece works in childcare, which means I don’t need to worry about that payment because I obviously don’t have the money for it, and it helps me to work and bring in more money.” I look around in the small kitchen in the small apartment I can barely afford.
I then look down at my outfit, the ripped jeans, that aren’t purposely ripped, but have worn out over the past 3 years, and my trusty black converse which are the only shoes I own, have also worn out, as the sides are slowly ripping open. But then I look down to the expensive bracelet which I have thought about selling many times, but I just can’t.
I can’t get rid of the only memory I have left of him, I just can’t do it to myself. The bracelet was our 1 year anniversary gift from him to me. But now that I think about it, the bracelet isn’t the only memory he gave me. He gave me Mia, and she reminds me of him the most. And she is the most precious thing in the world.
Luke let out a long breathe. “I don’t understand, that’s not the Ashton we know.” He pinched the bridge of his nose.
“It was when you had just found out that you were all moving to New York to get signed, that was the day I found out.” I felt tears coming to my eyes. “He denied even knowing about it, he kept saying it wasn’t his and that I should get rid of it. He didn’t want her, he didn’t want me”
Luke he looked so ashamed, what did I do wrong?” I was sobbing at this stage, finally letting my emotions shine through.
I was embraced by Luke and I cried for a bit, letting my guard down. He was shushing me, whispering sweet nothings and telling me I had done nothing wrong. The sound of his phone ringing broke us apart and a scowl took over his face once he read the caller i.d.
“What do you want?” He snapped into the phone.
“Good, we need to talk. Goodbye.” He ended the call abruptly and hugged me quickly again kissing the top of my head. “I’ll be back when I can, I’m going to be here for you even if he isn’t.”
I nodded, not really sure what to say in that moment. I followed him out of the kitchen and watched as he petted Mia on the head before giving her cheek a quick kiss. “Uncle Luke will be back soon baby.”
“Thanks for hearing me out Luke,” he nodded and gave me a slight smile.
“I’m glad I did, not that I wanted to hear that but it was good to finally hear the truth. I’m really sorry but I have to go, people to deal with, you know the usual"
I nodded and we bid each other farewell before he left, leaving me to slide down the door and rest my head in my hands.
Oh god, he was going to tell Ashton.
-Ashton’s POV-
The beep of my phone signalled he hung up on me. What was up his arse?
My girlfriend, Rihannah, must have noticed my now sour mood as she sat in my lap.
“Baby, what’s wrong? Is Lukey being annoying as always?”
“He hung up on me, and he was all snappy.” She rolled her eyes.
“I don’t even understand why you hang out with him anymore, you have more than enough talent to just ditch them all and go out on your own, they’re just holding you back.”
“Yeah Ri, but they helped me get here and I need them to continue to help me get bigger, we aren’t strong enough yet.”
“That’s because they are holding you back, and look at all this stress Luke is causing you, that’s not good for you babe.” She told me, rubbing her hands up and down my arms. “But I know a cure for that,” she whispered in my ear as her hand moved further down my body and I groaned, this is what she was good for.
“Fine, but we have to be quick. Luke is coming over to ‘discuss’ things.”
“Well we better get started then.” She sent me a wink and I smirked, getting down to business.
