Oh Shoot! (3rd Chapter)

Janelle's POV:

He waits no longer to engulf me in his caring arms, and I sigh feeling instantly comforted by his aura. “Its so good to finally have you, Jan.” He rubs my back with his hands smoothly, and I smile at the nickname I used to be known for. “Its good to be here too, dad.” He smiles warmly, and assists me in collecting my luggage. “Your mum is going crazy inside. (He chuckles and I laugh lightly) She has been preparing this dinner since ages.” I feel happy that till this moment, Perrie isn’t mentioned, and for once something is revolved about me. I always refer to my stepparents as mom and dad, even though they aren’t in reality. But the thing is, they have dealt with me like my own parents would have, and I couldn’t love them less for that.
We enter the familiar house, and I sigh in relief to the painted walls that I was once surrounded by. The house hasn’t changed a single bit, and the flowery aroma still captivates its inner atmosphere. “No! it can’t be you! Come here.” My stepmom appears from the kitchen door, and glances at how grown up I became. She plants kisses on each cheek, and brushes my hair with tender love. “You have grown up to be just as pretty as your mother was, God rest her soul in peace.” I nod, slowly, as she scans me from top to toe.
“Look at you becoming so successful, Jan. You look like these television actresses. (She slides her fingers through my hair, and speaks) Its longer than it was!” I smile at her and reply: “A lot changed internally, just like it did physically mum.” She smiles and nods, while escorting me to the kitchen. “Do want to help me set the table like we always used to?” I nod to her heartwarming question, as I slide off my expensive jacket. “I’ll put these upstairs in your old room, Jan.” My dad claims his words, and I mouth a thank you at him.
…At Dinner…
“We will start soon. We’re just waiting for them. They should be here any moment now, darling.” A needle stings my heart, as I am informed by my stepmom’s words. Them as in both of them? I could deal with seeing each one of them alone, but not together at the same time. Calm down Janelle; remember you are not the heartbroken nobody that you used to be. Once I remind myself, I draw a smile at my mother and look for my phone on the dining table.
“Oh shoot! I forgot my phone in the car. I’ll be right back.” I slide out of the dining room, and fetch my keys to grab my missing phone. I should have worn my blazer, since it’s a bit breezy out here. Once I collect my talking device, I notice a car driving across me, and parking itself beside mine. Just as my worst fear turns to reality, a beautiful blonde slides down from the car. Her perfectly structured figure still seems to exist, and I have to admit that she became prettier than she already was.
Once her eyes locate me, they widen in a complete stun. I instantly feel proud of how I turned out to be, but then the moment clashes. He steps out of the driving seat, running his softly remembered fingers through his night hair. His perfect figure is more toned, and I feel that I might stumble down from his amazing presentation. How could he still be this good looking after four long and torturing years?
As he walks out of the car, he looks at Perrie’s reaction, and finally his eyes reach my own. Those eyes, those eyes that I have missed so much. “Tell me that you aren’t Janelle.” Perrie speaks in her high-toned voice, which never used to amuse me. I force a smile at her as she walks to me, but Zayn? He is still standing there, no words, no movement at all; glancing at me like I am a priceless statue of wonder.
