Need A Help, Kid? (2nd Chapter)

“Parish, Mr. Ronald wants you in his office.” Denise, the secretary, informs me once I get back from the ladies room. “Thank you.” I smile at her politely, and glide down the hallway from the reception area to the boss’s office (http://www.polyvore.com/classical_duet/set?id=116923779&lid=3453986). I open the door after I knock lightly, and I greet my publishing boss. “Janelle, its good to see you. (He shakes my hand, then proceeds) Please have a seat.”I nod as I lay my weight on the leather chair, facing him. “I just wanted to hand you the plane ticket and your confirmation letter. I know you asked for them yesterday, but I really had a lot to finish. (He hands me a transparent folder, and proceeds) Make sure to have fun at your family reunion. I, for starters, am so pleased that you are finally going to leave these walls. Its been four long years since you have been here, and frankly I am glad that you decided to take a rest for once.” I smile at his sincerity, as I collect the folder. “Trust me, if it wasn’t for my parents’ forcing for me to be there, I wouldn’t leave.” He shakes his head and laughs at my reply.
“No working for a complete month, just go bond with your family, alight?” I nod as I thank him and escort myself out of his office. Yes its true, I will be heading back to the house where my fears are locked up. My stepparents, especially my stepmom, begged me to come over for a vacation. They haven’t seen me since four years, and I truly miss them. But what I don’t miss is being reunited with my worthy opponent and her lovey-dovey guy.
From the phone calls that I had with my stepparents, they told me that Zayn and Perrie are still together; which skinned me alive to be honest. Zayn was a gushing and cutely awkward guy, and I don’t know how Perrie found him as her type. But I have trained myself how to control these feelings, and making them die hard, even though the memories that we both shared as friends are unforgettably wonderful.
I have previously packed my bags and set them in my car, earlier today. This is because I would be heading out straight to South Shields, after work. I glance at my phone clock, and I feel a little sad that the working hours for today have ended. I collect my purse and lock the door of my office, as I depart from Regan’s Publishing House. As I enter my car, I revive its engine with my silver key.
Once I hear the normal roaring of the car, I sigh. I sigh to comfort myself, heck even to convince myself that I will be okay going back. I believe that after four years, something must have changed, hoping that Perrie finally realizes how wrong her mentality is. Who knows, she might have changed and became a good person after all. I text my stepmother, Debbie, that I am on my way; then my driving begins.
… Arriving Home (South Shields)…
I take my keys out of the motor, and remind myself that I have changed and non of this means anything to me. Nothing could hurt me now, since the nerdy quiet girl has finally emerged to a confident and successful editor. I am my own parent now, it’s my rules and my life to be in charge off. But what isn’t mine, is Zayn, what isn’t mine is him… I step out of the car, and open the trunk to gather my suitcases out. “Need a help, kid?” I smile as I turn to face the man that has been a great influence in my life, Alexander Edwards; Alex for short.
