“I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS NOW! YOU WANT TO BE A GOOD BOYFRIEND? YOU SHOULD HAVE FREAKING TOLD ME THAT MY DAD WAS ON HIS DEATH BEAD ALL OF THIS TIME! AND YOU JUST DECIDED TO BRING ME, NOW? WHY! WHY DID YOU MAKE ME WITNESS HIS DEATH! I HATE YOU!!” My voice vanishes at the last spoken words, and Harry? I don’t want to describe him right now. “You don’t mean that… You love me. (He sighs pulling his hair in between his fingers) Mel, I was scared to bring you here, and you know why. I didn’t want your father to take you away from me again. I couldn’t bare this happening a-…” I yell harsher than a lioness’s roar: “SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP! HOW COULD YOU BE SO SELFISH WHEN MY DAD IS LITERALLY DEPARTING FROM THIS WORLD!? GOD DAMN IT HARRY I AM DONE WITH THIS! I THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD BE MORE SENSITIVE ABOUT THIS!”
His temper is gone, as the monster rises: “Be more sensitive? BE MORE DAMN SENSITIVE?! WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY DO MORE THAN I AM DOING NOW MELODY! I HAVE KEPT YOU AWAY BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE SHARING WHAT IS MINE! I WON’T LET ANYONE TAKE YOU AWAY FROM ME, DO YOU UNDERSTAND!? (He speaks in surrender) But you know? You don’t understand… As funny as it sounds; I’m not surprised that you don’t.” The death of my father plunged a dagger in my heart, but Harry’s words took that dagger out and plunged it back deeper than the first time. “Go Harry. Leave me like you left your mom… that’s what you do to the people you love. You possess them as your property and then when they start caring about you, you leave them. You want to leave me don’t you…?” My knees wriggle in weakness, and I flunk down on the ground; passing in my own dozing sleep.
… A Week Later…
“Is she going to wake up soon?” I hear a voice asking, and try to look at the person with the familiar tone; Harry. “Harry I’m awake.” I speak but he doesn’t hear me, since my mind is doing the talking, and not my mouth. I try hardly to flicker my eyes open, but they don’t budge. “She’s going to be fine Mr. Styles. Just try to leave this hospital already. You’ve been here since the day you brought her here.” Harry brought me here? I’m in a hospital? After all the fighting with Harry, and us breaking each other down; he still brought me here? He has been here all this week?
“Harry I’m fine, just go rest.” My mind speaks, and I try to make these words audible to him and the other man. “Look, her lips are shaking.” Harry’s voice states, and I feel his fingers intertwine with my numb pair. I feel the heat and the sweatiness from his palm, but I can’t curl my fingers with his. “Mel, baby please wake up… I know your strong, you can wake up if you want to.”
I sense his breath on my face, and I dive into the chlorine smell that I once missed.
I sense a water droplet hitting the surface of my cheek. Is he crying? No, Harry never cries… is he right now? Look at me all weak and unable to move; I won’t stay like this anymore… no. I press my eyes to open, and when I manage to finally open them; the room is empty. “(My voice is damaged, but I think it could be heard) Harry?” I feel a pang in my throat, and so I begin to cough.
Tears slide from my eyes, remembering that my dad departed from my life. I am an orphan of family members, and an orphan of love. I focus at an angle on the wall, as my tears slither in silence. I hear the door opening, and once it closes I try to make up who has came; praying its Harry. My disappointment grows, once I see who entered.
