Overworked

Maddie’s P.O.V
All I know is that I woke up with Harry’s arm around me. I tried to get out of his grip but even after 12 years I’m not strong enough. I didn’t want to wake him so I wriggled out of his hold and got dressed ready to pick my family up from the airport. I went downstairs and Lis ran out of her room.
“Mummy, can I come with you?” She asked excitedly.
“No baby, there isn’t enough room in the car.” I told her. She pouted and I laughed and went downstairs. I had something to eat and went out to the 7 seater – a Range Rover Sport – we knew we’d need it one day. I drove to the airport and went inside. There were a few paparazzi which scared me but everything was okay when I saw my parents. Everyone came over with Aimee in her stroller and hugged me in turn.
“Gosh Maddie, your bump is so big, mine was never as big with Aimee.” Brooke said.
“Yeah, I’m having twins so that probably explains it.” I revealed.
“Oh right, yeah aha.” We went to the car and got in.
“So you don’t have rules this time?” Faye asked.
“Oh I do, I’m not allowed to wear heels but he trusts me enough to drive now, purely because he knows he’d have to if I couldn’t.” I said rolling my eyes.
“How are the kids Maddie?” Mum questioned.
“They’re good. They’re really excited to see you all. Lis is probably waiting by the door already.” We caught up on recent events whilst I drove home. I unlocked the door and everyone went inside and I put the car into the garage. I went to join everyone and Lis was jumping on them. “Melissa. No.” I said sternly. She looked at me with puppy dog eyes and I shook my head. Harry came downstairs still half asleep in only his boxers. “Haz, put some clothes on.” I said. He looked up and realised that there were other people here and went back upstairs.
“I know why you married him, he’s so fit.” Brooke said earning herself a look from Carl.
“I didn’t say I want to marry him. I was only saying he was fit. He’s a celebrity so it’s allowed.” She defended herself.
“Well, I’d rather you didn’t call my husband fit and so would your husband.” I laughed and picked up Lis who was now sulking. “I’m going to go and get Brooklyn and Adam up, I’ll be back in a second.” I went upstairs with Lis. Harry was coming down the stairs now fully clothed.
“Put her down Mads. You’re gonna hurt yourself.” He warned me.
“I’ll take that risk.” I said and walked into Adam’s room.
“I’d rather you didn’t. After you’ve had the babies then yeah, that’s fine but not when you’re 7 months pregnant.” He took Lis off of me.
“Fine. But I’m still allowed to sit with her on my lap.” I told him. He agreed and went downstairs with Lis. I got Adam and Brooklyn up and then went downstairs again. Brooke and Carl were arguing, as usual. “What are you arguing about now?” I sat down.
“Just how she’s checking Harry out,” Carl said and I looked around and realised that Harry wasn’t in here.
“Brooke, you’ve had 12 years to do that and you choose to do it when you’re with your husband?” I looked at her. She laughed and Carl glared at us. I hate him and he hates me. He obviously didn’t have to do a Maddie test like Harry had to do a Faye test. I went to find Harry and found him sitting in the kitchen. “What’s up?” I sat next to him.
“Nothing.” He said. It’s obvious there is something wrong. He probably misses his family but they’ll be here tomorrow.
“I know there is something.” I poked him.
“No there isn’t. I’m just tired that’s all.” He stood up and went into the living room. Brooklyn came downstairs in her pyjamas and dressing gown.
“What’s the matter mum?” She hugged me.
“Nothing princess,” I stood up. She helped me into the living room and then went to get dressed. I sat next to Harry and he put his arm around me.
“Sorry,” he whispered. I smiled at him and started to talk to everyone.
“How’s Uni then Faye?” I asked.
“Urr, yeah it’s good.” She answered.
“You don’t seem too sure, what’s wrong?”
“It’s just not what I expected, that’s all.”
“Well my uni experience wasn’t what I expected.” I looked at Harry and he laughed.
“Sorry about that love.”
“It will get better Faye don’t worry.” I told her and Adam came in and greeted everyone and then sat next to Harry. Brooklyn came in carrying Lis.
“Hi girls,” Mum said and they waved at her.
“When do your family get here Harry?” Dad asked.
“Tomorrow morning, Gemma and Ash are driving my mum and Robin.” Harry told him.
“Oh right okay,” We all sat and caught up for the rest of the day. Harry cooked us all dinner and then we all went up to our rooms.
“What’s up with Brooke and Carl?” Harry asked taking his top off. I walked over to him and rubbed my hand over his bare chest.
“You.” I said.
“What?” He looked confused.
“They’re arguing because Brooke said you were fit this morning. Carl wasn’t best impressed so it’s all your fault.” I kissed him and he laughed.
“Well that’s too bad because I only have eyes for one girl.” Harry kissed me.
“Who’s that?” I teased.
“Umm, well, I have 3 children with her and if she wasn’t pregnant with twins right now I’d be in that bed doing some dirty things with her.” He pointed at the bed and I laughed.
“Well, you’ll have to wait a couple of months for that babe.” I put my arms around his neck and he put his around my waist and leant down to kiss me. We made out and then I got ready for bed. I walked out of the bathroom and Harry was in bed already. I got in next to him and he put his arm around me. That’s how we fell asleep.
I woke up to Lis jumping on the bed. “Mummy, Daddy, wake up!” She shouted and kept jumping.
“Stop jumpingggg.” Harry moaned and she stopped. She lay down between us on Harry’s arm. “Ouch.” Harry pulled it away and I went back to sleep only to be woken up by Harry kissing me.
“Urgh, go away.” I pushed him away from me.
“You’re no fun.” He laughed and I got out of bed.
“Need to pee, need to pee.” I walked into the bathroom quickly.
“Pregnant women and their bladders,” Harry laughed again. I went to the toilet and then Harry went into the bathroom to sort himself out. I got my clothes and then Harry went downstairs and I got dressed. The doorbell rang when I was getting dressed so I finished and went downstairs.
“Heyy!” Gemma said.
“Hey Gem,” I hugged her. She pushed me away from her and looked at me.
“What are you wearing?” She laughed.
“I like this jumper.” I put my arms over my 1D jumper.
“Auntie Maddie! Auntie Maddie!” Matthew jumped up and down. I crouched down as close to his level as I could and hugged him.
“Hey Matt, have you been a good boy?” I asked.
“Yeah!” He exclaimed nodding. Gemma and Ashton laughed at him and I stood up.
“Hey Ash,” I hugged him.
“How are you?” He asked.
“Tired, so tired, what about you?”
“Yeah I’m good thanks.” He smiled and I went over to Anne and Robin and greeted them too. Faye came downstairs, greeted them all and then got some breakfast. Brooklyn came down and ran to Gemma.
“Auntie Gemma!!” She hugged her.
“Hey Brooklyn, you okay?” Gemma asked.
“Yes thank you, I’ve missed you!” Brooklyn said, very excited.
“I’ve missed you too princess.” Gemma replied.
“And I’ve missed you Nanny! And Uncle Ashton!” Brooklyn said and hugged them both.
“What about me?” Robin pouted and Brooklyn laughed.
“And you Robin.” She smiled and hugged him too. The others came down and all greeted each other.
“Are you doing anything with the boys for Louis’ birthday?” Anne asked Harry.
“Nope, I think we’re just gonna go round, give him his present and say happy birthday. He leaves for Doncaster in the evening.” Harry replied.
“Oh right, does he still go to his mum’s?”
“Yeah, it’s easier because it’s only him, El, Sam and Kayleigh otherwise all his siblings have to come here as well so it’s just easier for him to go to them”
“Oh right, what about Eleanor’s family?”
“I don’t know what they’re doing; maybe they’re going there for Boxing Day or something.” Harry said. We talked and then showed them to their rooms to sort their stuff out. They go home on Boxing Day and my family leave on the 27th.
“What’s wrong?” I asked Faye when we got back inside. She’s been sulking since she got here and I’m really worried about her.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” She said and looked at Harry.
“Harry, go away for a bit,” I said and he left. “Now spill.” I turned back to Faye.
“I hate Uni. I thought it was going to be great but it’s not. It’s rubbish. I have so much coursework to do and everything is just stressing me out.” She admitted.
“Just don’t stress about it. Organise it into deadlines and then start the ones that need to be in first.” I told her.
“Thanks. It’s just you had the perfect uni experience, you found Harry and had Brooklyn and I’m just there, I don’t have that many friends there and it’s boring. I want it to be more like yours.”
“Mine was lucky. I was so lucky to meet Harry. Not everyone’s uni experience will be like that. I know I’m not there at the moment but I will help you. Don’t tell Harry this but I’m thinking about moving back to California once I have these two out of me.” I put my hand on my bump.
“Why? You can’t just uproot the kids.”
“I miss it. Harry knows I want to go back but he doesn’t think that I’m going to do anything about it. I really do miss LA.” I told her. We talked for a bit longer and then Harry came back in.
“Everyone wants lunch babe, but I’ll make it for everyone.”
“Are you sure?” I stood up and went over to him.
“Yeah gorgeous, you relax.” He kissed my head and got some things out of the fridge whilst I went into the living room and sat with everyone. We talked and then had lunch and the kids wanted to have a snowball fight. I sat inside and watched everyone play. It sucks being pregnant. I turned on the TV and watched some Christmas game shows. I heard everyone come in and turned off the TV.
“I’m freezing.” Brooklyn sat down next to me. I hugged her to warm her up and she smiled.
“Thanks mum.” She said.
“Who won?” I asked.
“Us. We’re way better than the adults. Even if there were more adults. Auntie Faye joined us and tackled Auntie Brooke and Uncle Carl. It was really funny.” She laughed just thinking about it. I laughed along with her and we went into the kitchen.
“I hear you lost.” I said to Harry.
“We so won.” He argued.
“I believe Brooklyn.” I said.
“Evil,” he replied and went to get changed. He came back down and I made dinner. We ate and then sat around watching some movies before going to bed.
