We Can't

We hadn't really said anything to eachother. After making and drinking my morning coffee while picking out an outfit; I showered in the big glass shower. Making sure to lock the door so no on could get in. I used up all the hot water, only because I really didn't want to get. The water felt good on my body. But mostly because I was alone. It gives me time to think. When I think, I think. Mostly about my past. Let's get one thing straight, my past isn't something anyone needs to know, it's something they shouldn't know, something they couldn't know. It's dark, it's deep, it's dangerous.

Although the water was on my face, I could feel the salty tear slip from my eyes. Once they start, they don't stop One after another they fell, each burned my face. Leaving a read streak, and read circles under my eyes. Then the memories hit. All of them, one by one. Racing across my memory. Each one causing another tear stained streak on my cheek. All of the words, hits, kicks, makes-ups, brakes-ups, cuts, tears, and lossed voice. I sat down on the shower floor and reached for the red razor blade sitting just before me. I slowly brought it to my wrist and let another burning tear slip. I closed my eyes before sliding it across my wet skin. It was new, so it was sharp. I watched through the blur of my tears as the red liquid dripped from my wrist, I slid it across my wrist again, only a few centimeters below the first one. Again and again. I waited until the tears subsided and the water got cold to slip out of the shower. I got my wrist to stop bleeding pretty quickly. I got ready as I would everyday. Walking out with a smile as I always do.
