Summary
Princess Charlotte is coming of age. King Robert is in a rut. He doesn't want to give his daughter away but treaties must be made, kept, or reinforced. He must give her away to a prince. Which ones? Only the best for his daughter, unless a treaty is broken.
The king of Ireland is getting restless. When King Robert first came to power, they made a contract. King Robert's first daughter would go to his first son. He must fulfill the contract unless he wants war with Ireland.
The king of France supposedly found American spies on his land. The only way they can be spared is if King Robert gives one of his daughters. He must give them one of his daughters or there will be war.
The king of Spain says their treaty is almost up. They must write a new one and a daughter must be given to seal the deal. King Robert only has one daughter of age. He cannot give her to three different men.
The king of Germany insists that the people want to overthrow him. He needs to make his son the king but he needs a princess. He wants King Robert's daughter but there are already others who want her as well.
The king of Russia is dying and needs someone to rule. His son is not fit to rule alone, he needs a wife who will help with politics. King Robert owes him a favor from long ago, a daughter will be good enough.
The king of Greece has the most polite son in the world. King Robert thinks that he would be good for his daughter. He is kind and caring. He thinks his daughter will be cared for with the prince as her husband.
The king of Switzerland is offering a lot of money and supplies so that his son can marry. He wants a good wife who will help him. King Robert needs the money and supplies but doesn't want to just sell his daughter.
King Robert decides to invite all the princes to the palace to find out who would be best for his daughter. They offer much and threaten much but he wants his daughter well cared for.
Follow Princess Charlotte through the weeks the princes are there. She will laugh and cry and scream because of them. She will fall in love. But is he the right one? Will her father think he is the one for her? Or will she marry without love.
