Behind The Backstage Doors

The talk

Someone was knocking on Alison's hotel room but she felt too tired to get her muscles work. The gig had gone by quickly and she had actually gotten decent photos even though her mind had been miles away. Now she was lying on her hotel bed, her laptop in front of her, trying to get some editing done but the constant yawning was disturbing her.

The person outside of her hotel room seemed to be really persistent and after ten minutes of banging she finally jumped off the bed and made her way on the door.

"For fuck's sake -oh hi Louis," she smiled sarcastically and once again a yawn escaped from her lips.

"Do you know it's like 2:30 in the local time?" Louis asked raising his eye brow and walking past her into her room. She closed the door and followed him on the bed where he was now looking at the picture she had been just editing.

"That's sick, sis," he said but she quickly picked up the laptop, closing it. She couldn't help but notice how fresh Louis looked even though he mustn't got much sleep in the past few days. She, herself, looked like a mess and she let out a sigh while waiting for Louis to say something.

"So what's going on?" he finally started while getting on his side and leaning his head on his hand. She sat on the bed next to him and crossed her legs while trying to look busy with her nails.

"Nothing's going on. I'm just a bit tired."

"It doesn't seem nothing to me. Spill it out now," he insisted. She knew there was no way out of Louis' interrogations so she had to come up with something to satisfy Louis' yearning for gossip. She felt his eyes on her while she thought what to tell him and finally she opened her mouth.

"What do you think of Josh?"

"Josh?" his face was worth to see. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen his face so confused and it really was hard to confuse Louis Tomlinson.

"Yeah I mean... Do you know if he has any interest on anyone?"

"I thought we were gonna talk about your mum's latest scene or something but definitely not Josh," he muttered while shaking his head. It was true that Alison's mum was quite a character and she had had her up and downs with her but lately they had been in pretty good terms.

"Well I just... Someone just said something to me about Josh having an eye on me but I don't-"

"He has an eye on you? I can figure it out right now just wait here," he said while trying to get up of the soft mattress but Alison took a hold of his ankle.

"You're not going anywhere and definitely not going to say anything to Josh. I was just wondering if you'd noticed anything," she said sternly and Louis got back to his earlier position in the bed.

"Okay, okay. Calm down you can trust me. I don't know. Who told you that? Have you seen any signs of him liking you more than just friends?"

Alison was bad at hiding her feelings. After Louis' words she blushed bright red as she thought what had happened earlier. She really liked Josh but nothing else but as a friend.

"You're hiding something! Tell me now," Louis was getting excited when he saw her reaction so she told him about them two spending the day together and then about the little kiss incident.

"He kissed you? And you're asking me about any signs of him liking you? I think that's pretty obvious. Oh my god," he gasped.

"Just one thing. I really want us to be just friends but I don't know how to talk to him without ruining everything," Alison sighed. She knew she was bad at talking. Like everytime she tried to talk to Harry it seemed like they just managed to start a fight and that was not what she wanted to have with Josh. He was a good mate.

"Yeah I know it might be difficult but you have to talk to him. The sooner the better. He might feel a bit hurt for a while but if you don't tell him how you feel then it's just gonna get harder to tell him."

Alison already felt better. Louis was a good listener and he also gave good advice so after their talk she decided that the first thing she was gonna do in the morning was to talk to Josh. She gave Louis a hug as a thank you before they changed the subject into lighter ones such as the gig that night. Louis even helped her editing the photos by giving his opinion about the lightings and such.

"Oh shit it's almost half four. Thank god we have a day off tomorrow," Louis yawned while looking at his phone. "I guess I gotta say good night and head to my room."

Alison saved the last photo she had edited and switched off her laptop, placing it on the night stand. She watched as Louis got up and was about to walk out of the room but she spoke first.

"Just one more thing, Louis," she said and he turned to look at her.

"Just... generally speaking. Like if you had something important to tell someone that had happened quite a long time ago... would you tell it to that person even though you wouldn't really know that person anymore? Like.... that the person had maybe changed. But like you knew the person might want to know about that thing even though it would make that person sad," she stuttered. She really didn't know if her explanation made any sense but she looked at Louis and saw that he was thinking about her words.

Whether Louis had an idea who Alison was talking about he wasn't showing any signs of it. Alison bit the inside of her lip while looking at Louis nervously. She hand't realized her hands were trembling because she was so eager to hear someone else's opinion.

"I think... that I would definitely tell that person. Like I would hate to be the person that someone wasn't telling something important to. I think that person has every right to know," he finally said. She sighed out relieved. She wasn't really sure if she was pleased about what he had said but after hearing his opinion she thought it'd be easier for her to make her decision.

"Thank you," she managed to put a tired smile on her face. Louis nodded at her giving her a small smile too before exiting the room. She got up off the bed to shut the lights before climbing under her sheets and closing her eyes to fall asleep.

Alison finally felt somewhat at peace about something she had been thinking about for so long and something she hadn't told anyone. Telling someone about it -even though not exactly telling the exact thing- helped to relief some of the built up tension inside of her. She knew she couldn't keep the thing to herself forever or else she was going to go mad. She needed to tell it to him so she might get over it finally. She just didn't know how after all the fights they had had.
