6 months later
Nialls POV
"Are you ready?" I ask Eli.
She doesn't answer.
"Eli?"
"Sorry. I-I'm just a little nervous." She replies while blushing.
I intertwine our fingers and give her a reassuring smile.
"They're going to love you princess."
She squeezes my hand and takes a deep breath.
"I hope so."
I rub her hand with my thumb softly.
"They will. I know they will." I whisper.
She looks up at me and nods her head a little.
"I'm ready." She responds.
I kiss her cheek softly before I knock on the door.
In a few seconds, the door opens.
"Hi! I've missed you so much!" my mother says as she pulls me in to a tight hug.
I wrap my arms around her, letting go of Eli's hand.
She pulls away and plants a kiss on my cheek, which causes me to blush.
"Mum." I say.
"Don't mum me. I haven't seen you in months. I can embarrass you as much as I want." She states with a wide smile.
I hear Eli laugh next to me.
"And you must be the beautiful Eli!" she says excitedly as she turns her attention to Eli.
"Hi." Eli replies, while shyly looking down on the floor.
She's so adorable.
"You don't have to be shy around me love. We're practically like family."
Eli lifts up her head and gives my mum a soft smile.
"I'm sorry, I'm just a little nervous. By what Niall has told me, you all seem wonderful and I don't want to make a bad first impression." Eli says honestly.
My mum grabs Eli in a quick hug, which startles Eli a little.
"By what Niall has told you? You should've heard all the things he's told us about you. I bet he could write a novel just about how adorable your laugh is."
I feel myself blush and I clear my throat, hoping my mum will take the hint to stop.
I look down to see Eli squeezing my hand. As my eyes meet hers, she smiles and stands on her tippy toes to kiss my cheek.
I can't help the smile on my face. I love her so much, it's unbelievable.
"I hope you two are hungry. I made a huge pot of chicken stew." My mum states excitedly.
"Sounds delicious! I can't wait." Eli responds.
My mum then leads us to the dining room. Wow, my mum went kind of crazy with the decorating. The table is covered in a white linen table cloth, she took out all her china and fancy silver ware, and she placed candles on the table. I guess this dinner is as important to her as it is to Eli. I'm really happy. I think my mum already likes Eli.
"Your home is very lovely Mrs. Horan, oh I'm sorry I mean Mrs. Gallagher." Eli says embarrassed.
I squeeze her hand under the table.
My mum walks from the kitchen with three plates of food in her hand.
"Oh it's all right and thank you dear. By the way call me Maura."
Eli smiles and nods.
As my mom places both of our plates in front of us, we thank her.
"Where's Chris and Greg?" I ask before stuffing a fork full of chicken in my mouth.
Eli knows about my step father Chris and my older brother Greg.
"They're not going to be joining us tonight. They went on a hunting trip."
I feel anger begin to form within me. They know how important it was to me for them to meet Eli.
"They couldn't have gone another day?" I ask.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, but they've been planning this trip for months."
Eli begins to rub the top of my hand with her thumb, trying to calm me down.
I look at her and see how she's giving me a sympathetic smile.
I sigh as I feel my anger disappearing. Whatever. It's there loss.
"This chicken is delicious." Eli states, changing the subject.
My mum looks up from her plate and she smiles big.
"Thank you. It's not one of my best, but I try." She humbly responds.
"What? This is one of the best dishes I've ever had." Eli states seriously.
My mum's smile widens even more.
"If you think that's good, then you'll love my famous cottage pie."
"I remember Ni telling me that you made the best. I would love to try it."
They're both ignoring me completely, but I don't care. I just love how much their bonding. It's really a sight to see.
"Do you cook?" my mum suddenly asks.
Eli nods.
"My best friend is a professional chef, so she taught me a few techniques." She responds.
"Wow! What do you do?"
"Well I just got my high school degree from online classes, and I got accepted to a university in London, so I'm not really employed right now. But my friend has some connections with chefs from London, so she's going to recommend me."
"That's great. Do you happen to know what you want to be?"
"Thank you and I'm not really sure. I know I want to work in a profession that helps children. Hopefully I'll find my calling while in uni."
"I'm sure you're going to do great." My mum retorts.
"Me too." I add.
Eli blushes as her smile grows.
"Now you! Don't think I forgot about you." My mum says, directing her attention to me.
I raise one eyebrow in confusion.
"What?" I ask.
"What's up with all these tattoos?" my mum asks.
Eli and I both look at each other.
"What am I missing?" my mum continues.
Eli and I begin to laugh and we enjoy the rest of the dinner.
......
"I am stuffed." I blurt out.
"Me too." Eli says.
My mum chuckles at us.
"Well you're going to have to make room, because I made rice pudding for dessert."
I think she wants us to explode.
"Are you up for it?" I ask Eli.
She chuckles and nods a little.
"Who can pass up rice pudding?" she states.
I can't help but laugh.
"You got a point there." I respond, which causes her to laugh as well.
"Bring it out mum. I think our stomachs are ready." I say.
My mum laughs herself.
"Okay, but I'm going to need your help in the kitchen."
Eli begins to get out of her seat.
"Oh not you love. You stay there. Niall you come and help."
Eli looks at me for my response, and I just shrug before I follow my mom into the kitchen.
"So what do you need help with?" I ask.
"Can you get the plates from the top shelf for me?"
I nod my head and walk towards the shelves.
"You really love her, don't you?" my mum asks as I reach to grab three plates.
"Ya. I really do." I respond while handing her the plates.
"I can tell she feels the same way. Out of all the girls you have brought home, she's the first to look at you like that."
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Well while you two we're holding hands under the table I-"
I can't help but blush.
"How do you know that?" I interrupt her.
"I'm not stupid. Anyways, whenever you squeezed her hand, her eyes would sparkle and she would always look at you as if you we're the only person in the room. She truly does love you Niall. Don't let her go."
"That would be impossible for me. Mum...She's the one. I know it. I've never been more sure of anything in my life." I honestly reply.
My mum's eyes begin to water.
"I'm so happy for you two. I can tell you both really need each other. I'm so glad you have her."
I wrap my arms around her and I kiss the top of her head.
"I'm glad too." I whisper.
She quickly let's go and wipes her eyes while chuckling.
"Look at me, I'm a crying mess."
"You still look beautiful." I say.
She smiles and kisses my cheek.
"Now let's go have some dessert. I think I've been emotional enough today." She adds.
I laugh and nod my head.
....
"Thank you for having me Mrs. Gal- Maura." Eli says while hugging my mother.
My mum pulls away and looks at both of us.
"Thank you for coming. I do apologize once again for my husband and son's absence. I'll make sure that they will be here the next time you come." She says.
Eli closes her eyes for a quick second and smiles.
"It's fine. I can't wait to meet them." Eli responds.
We say our last good byes and walk to my car.
Eli's smile is still wide and I can't help but smile as well.
"She said next time Ni. She likes me." She says while buckling her seatbelt.
"You're perfect princess. Why wouldn't she like you?" I respond.
I buckle in my seatbelt and I begin to heat up the car.
"She was even more lovely than you described." She comments.
I can't help but stare at her. She's so beautiful. Everything we've been through, all the good and all the bad... it was all worth it. She's mine, and that's all I need.
"I love you." I whisper.
She turns her head and looks at me. Her cheeks begin to flush and her smile softens.
"I love you." She replies.
I feel my stomach flutter at her words.
She leans in and gives me a quick peck on my lips.
"I don't think I can imagine being with anyone else but you Ni. You're the one for me as well." She whispers.
She heard me in the kitchen, but I don't care...she feels the same way.
I can't help myself. I grab her face and lean in to kiss her lips. Her plump, pink lips fit mine, like a puzzle piece. Every touch, causes electricity to spread throughout my body. As we both pull away, I keep my hands on the sides of her face.
"Move in with me." I state.
Her eyes widen in shock.
"What?"
"I have a flat in London. Move in with me." I simply say.
A smile grows on her face and her eyes twinkle with excitement.
"Yes." She replies.
I can't help but laugh due to the amount of excitement I'm feeling.
"Yes?" I ask.
She nods her head and kisses my lips again.
"Yes." She repeats.
I feel complete. I didn't even think that was a feeling, until I met Eli. She completes me, and I hope I complete her. She's all mine, and I'll always be hers. I'm desperately in love with her, and I'll always be.
