SOFYS POV:
It kills me to see how down Eli has been lately. I really thought she was finally getting over him, but then that magazine ruined everything. She was finally recovering and she was just starting to become happy again, until that picture of him and the others broke her once again.
She was even starting to get out of the hotel more and explore the city. Not anymore. Ever since the magazine incident all she does is stay in bed all day and either stares at the ceiling or this yarn bracelet that she never takes off. When she does make eye contact with me, it breaks my heart. Her eyes look like there filled with pain, which makes me feel even more guilty. I just don’t understand why this guy ignoring her is causing her to be like this. She looks like a robot that just goes about its day, showing and feeling no emotion.
She still works and eats, but she seems lifeless while doing it. Why did this Niall kid have to get into her life? Ugh he just makes me so mad! The horrible part is that I have to talk to him every day.
Ya that’s right, I talk to him every day through the phone. It’s quite annoying actually. After he said his goodbyes to Eli at the hospital I made a promise to him. It was in the moment and I felt really bad for him so I told him that he could call me whenever he wants so I could give him Eli updates. I didn’t think he would call me every day…. I have to keep the calls a secret from Eli so she won’t make up with him and go crazy with the keeping in touch thing like last time. Even though I don’t like Niall, I have to give him some props. He is an okay friend. He sends Steve money to add to Eli’s paycheck and he’s been holding back from talking to her for her health.
I haven’t told him how miserable she’s been or anything. I’m afraid of what he would do if he found out. I usually just lie and say that she’s doing good and etc. I sometimes hear some hurt in his voice though. I think he feels a little depressed himself. He probably is thinking that she’s forgetting him.
I always cut the calls short though because A. I might get heard by someone or Eli and B. He annoys me. James knows what I’m doing but doesn’t agree with it. He says that one day Eli is going to have to find out and that when she does, she might never talk to me again. He doesn’t understand how better this is going to make her life.
James doesn’t know how much Eli reminds me of Ana. Even there appearances are similar. They both have brown curly hair and brown eyes. I really miss Ana. I would love for Ana to meet Eli. I feel that they would be good friends, even though Eli is a few years older than Ana.
I decide to take out my phone and call Ana.
I press her contact name, little monster, and wait for her to answer.
“Hello?”
“Hey little monster.”
“SOFY! HI! I miss you so much!”
“I miss you more!” I reply with enthusiasm.
“When are you going to come and see me?” she asks.
“I don’t know Annie, hopefully soon.”
“I miss you so much Sofy…I thought you forgot about me.” I hear her say.
I feel the tears starting to build. She reminds me of Eli so much. Am I the Niall in me and my sister’s relationship? Why would she think I’m forgetting about her.
“Please never say that again. I will never forget about you. Never okay!?!”
“Ya. I’ll never forge-“
BEEP BEEP
Uh incoming call from Niall! I ignore it and continue talking to my sister.
“Sofy, what was that sound?” she asks.
“Oh nothing, just another call.”
“Oh, by the way guess what happened to me?”
“What!?” I asked sounding like an overly excited teenager.
“Cody Wallance went up to me today at lunch.”
Cody Wallance is Ana’s crush.
“What did he tell you?” I ask overly excited.
“He t-“
BEEP BEEP
Uh ignore.
“Sorry can you please repeat that?” I ask.
“Oh ya well h-“
BEEP BEEP
Ignore ignore IGNORE!
“I’m so sorry Annie! Can you-“
“Sofy its okay you’re busy. Just talk to the person that keeps calling you.”
“But Annie I-“
“I…I have to go anyway… Talk to you in like a year I guess.”
“Ann-“
“Bye.”
She then hangs up on me and I feel pissed off. Niall always has to ruin EVERYTHING.
I then get another call from Niall and decide to answer it this time.
“I WAS OBVIOUSLY IGNORING YOUR CALLS BECAUSE I’M DOING SOMETHING IMPORTANT! I’M NOT GOING TO STOP EVERYTHING I’M DOING BECAUSE OF YOU EVERY FREAKEN TIME!”
I don’t like yelling at people, but I couldn’t take it anymore. He was being really rude and repetitive. It ticked me off.
“I’m sorry Sofy, but it’s an emergency I-“
“I really don’t want to talk to you right now. Bye.”
I then hang up on him and turn off my phone so I won’t be bothered by his calls anymore.
I finished work a few minutes ago and now walking back to my room. I feel like crap right now. Ana hates me and I yelled at someone.
When I walk into the room I walk to my bed and begin to cry. I didn’t even notice Eli walking towards me.
“What’s wrong Sofy?” I hear Eli ask.
I was shocked that she even spoke. I haven’t heard her voice in a few days.
I took my head out of my hands and looked at Eli which made me cry even more.
Eli sits down next to me on my bed and hugs me.
“What happened?” She asks.
“You remind me of her.”
“Who?”
More tears began to spill out just thinking about my sister’s name.
“Ana.” I reply.
“Your little sister?”
I nod.
“She thinks I’m forgetting about her Eli. She needs me and I can’t be there for her. I’m such a horrible sister.”
“Don’t say that! If you were a bad sister, you wouldn’t be crying over her like this! Sofy you are one of the most caring and genuine people I know, and I only know a few. You are loyal and are always there for everyone. For example me. You never give up on me! Even though I’m stubborn about a few things, you still are there. I am honored to even be able to call you my friend.”
“Eli I’m obviously not that great of a help. You’re still sad and broken which means that I didn’t and am not doing a great job.”
Eli looks at the ground for a second and then back at me with a stern look.
She then walks to the trash can in the bathroom and throws away her yarn bracelet.
I’m in disbelief right now.
“Why did you do that?” I ask still in shock.
“I’m focusing too much on someone who doesn’t even care about me anymore when I should be focusing more on the people who are there for me.”
She then gives me a hug.
“I’m so sorry Sofy.” She says.
“It’s not your fault. You just needed time to recover, I understand.”
She then sits next to me on my bed again.
“Now tell me about Ana.”
I tell her everything.
2 weeks later
Eli’s been really happy lately. I think she’s finally over Niall. I haven’t answered any of Niall’s calls ever since he interrupted my phone call with Ana. Since Eli’s over him, it’s now his turn to get over her.
I’m a little sad now myself because Ana hasn’t been answering my calls. I must have really hurt her.
James knows how sad I’ve been lately, so he’s going to take me out today.
I’m getting ready to leave right now actually. He told me to just dress casual so I’m wearing skinny jeans, a nice flowy floral blouse and my white sperries. Eli French braided my hair for me. She did a really good job.
I say my goodbyes to Eli and head off to the front of the hotel to see James.
Two hours later
James and I are heading back to my room to hang out some more. The date was nice.
He took me to the movie theater and we watched Scary Movie 5. It was hilarious. I feel a little better especially since I’m with James. He seemed a little suspicious though the whole night.
He kept on texting someone during the movie. When I asked him who he was texting, he had the biggest smile on his face and replied “Just my boss.”
Why has he been so happy and smiley today? Don’t get me wrong, I love how my boyfriend is happy, but I’ve never seen him this happy.
When were in front of my room door he hugs me super tight and kisses my forehead.
“What was that for?” I ask with confusion.
He chuckles.
“Just open the door already.” He replies.
I sometimes worry about that child.
I shrug and open the room door.
“SOFY!”
The smile on my face grows as I see my little sister run to hug me.
“ANNIE!”
I don’t think I’ve ever hugged a human being as tight as I hugged her at that moment.
“Sofy you’re squishing me.”
“Good.” I reply while squishing her one more time before finally letting go.
“Why, how, when..?” I ask.
“First I apologize for hanging up on you like that… I was just sad. You’re busy and I have to respect that.” She states.
“No, I should be apologizing. I’ll always have time to talk to you okay? For now on, no matter what.”
She smiles and then quickly hugs me again.
“How’d you get here? Where are mom and dad?”
“Oh well, mom and dad couldn’t come, but they let me go anyway.”
“Wow they were generous!” I state in shock.
“Well they couldn’t turn down the offer, especially since your friend pretty much begged!”
I then look at James who was still standing at the door with a smile on his face.
“You?” I ask him.
He shakes his head and points at Eli who is coming out of the bathroom.
“Oh hey Sofy! I-“
I run to her and practically tackle her to the ground.
“Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” I keep on repeating.
“No problem, now can you kind of get off of me.” She comments.
I quickly get up and help her up as well.
“I saw how sad you were, not being able to see her so I got your parent’s number from Steve, bought the plane ticket and sent it to them, and-“
“Wait you bought her the ticket! But Eli you ca-“
“It’s fine. I’ve been saving some money in an account for emergencies and I figured this was an emergency.” She states with a smirk.
I then hug her again.
“Your parents said she could stay here for a week and after begging, Steve finally agreed to give you the week off as well as a room for you and her.”
“Do you know that you’re kind of perfect?” I ask.
“Um well ya.” She retorts chuckling.
Eli, Ana, James, and I talked for about what seemed like forever until I received a text.
Niall jerk Horan: Sofy! Please call me! I have to tell you something important. PLEASE! I know you’re mad at me and I am superrr sorry! Please call me.
I roll my eyes and excuse myself to call this annoying child.
When I’m far away enough for no one to be able to hear me I call Niall. He answers almost instantly.
“Niall what do you want?” I ask.
“We’re coming back.”
