Stole My Heart

Laurel’s P.O.V.

I rushed over to give Niall a hug. “You were absolutely fantastic!”

“Thank you.” He replied, grinning and returning the embrace.

I pulled back and Niall brushed the hair out of my eyes. I looked into his eyes and tried not to blush. You were really great.” I stated again.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Luke. Hey looked a bit awkward and uncomfortable. “Laurel, the guys and I have to go get ready for our performance. I’ll see you after.”

“All right. See you later.” I said as the other boys from 5SOS joined him. “And good luck!” I called after him. Luke turned and smiled at that, but then continued walking backstage.

“Let’s go find a good place to watch them. It shouldn’t be long until they go on.” Niall said taking my hand. We found the perfect spot right up by the stage, Sarah was already there.

“So, did they tell you which song they’re playing?” I asked Niall after saying hi to Sarah.

“Nope. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.” Niall replied shrugging.

We watched three more acts before they finally announced that 5 Seconds of Summer would be performing next. I clapped and screamed with everyone else when they came on. I immediately knew what song they were playing within the first three notes: Don’t Stop. I sang along and I heard Niall singing too but I never looked over at him because my eyes were fixed on Luke. He was doing an incredible job. He winked at me during the final refrain and a weird feeling came over me but I smiled to myself. Everyone screamed when they finished and then they were off.

“They were great!” Sarah exclaimed. “Did you see Ashton? He was perfect!”

I laughed, “Yes he was. But Luke was pretty perfect too.” I looked behind me to say something to Niall but he was talking to Heather and Louis. Sarah and I walked around for a while talking and looking for 5SOS when we nearly ran into them.

“You were incredible!” Sarah and I exclaimed, giving them all hugs. I had to stand on my toes to hug Luke, even though I was in heels.

We walked back over to the stage and watch some more. I had no idea what time it was and my feet were killing me, but even so, I was having a great time. After the last group performed I was having trouble keeping my eyes open despite the loud noises.

“All right,” Luke said looking down at me yawn, “I think it’s time we got back to the hotel.” Everyone else agreed and we made our way back outside and through the crowd and cameras. By now I had no sense of direction and was blindly following Luke. Eventually, we made our way to the taxis: One Direction and Heather and Nina in one, and 5SOS, Sarah, and I in another. Once we sat down I took my shoes off and leaned my head on Luke’s shoulder.

“So, how did you girls like it?” Ashton asked Sarah and I. I mumbled something that didn’t make much sense and was probably inaudible before snuggling closer to Luke and falling asleep.
