The Last Goodbye

Remember Me

Harry's POV

"I know I shouldn't be here, but I need to talk to you." I said directly walking into her home. "What did you do?" Mary asked me. I was at the home of Victoria's grandmother. She had been the one helping me keep my secret from Victoria.

"I can't do this." I told her.

"How is so hard to get her remember you?" She asked me.

"She's different." I said falling down in a chair.

"The boy has butterflies." Mary said in a sarcastic tone. She grabbed a small wooden box off her shelf. "You came back to her. She just needs to find her way back to you." Mary said bringing me the box that had clothes and a mask on top.

Victoria's POV

"Which one?" Elizabeth asked as she held up two pairs of identical shoes. "I don't see a difference between them." I told her. "This one is a black velvet spiked glitter heel and this pair doesn't have the shimmer." Beth said sounding frustrated. I had been at her house for about four hours now.

I had only gone to her house because I was in need of a distraction. I had asked my mom if could borrow the keys to her car. If I had known I would be stuck listening to if she should wear her hair up or down. I would have gone else where.

All day I promised myself that I wouldn't think of him. After all I did have a boyfriend. So I should feel guilty, right? "Earth to Victoria." Beth called trying to capture my attention.

"Hmmm."

"Okay what happened between you and Christian?" She asked sitting on the bed next to me as she shoved her plush panda bears on the floor.

"There's nothing going on between us." I replied.

"Then what's with that look on your face?" She asked. "What look and if can can interject I would go with those." I said pointing to a pair of dark blue suede heels. Beth paused before she said anything else.

I got up and walked over to her long wall of shoes and passed them to her. Her face soon lit up at the sight of me taking an interest in helping with her outfit for the festival. "Perfect!" She said clapping her hands together. "My look is now complete, all we need is hair and makeup now. Ugh! this is going to be a perfect night." Beth said as she danced and twirled around her room.

"I don't think I can make it to tonight." I said afraid to see her reaction. The music in her head stopped and she quickly spun around.

"What do to mean you can't come Cinderella?" She said trying not to laugh at her own joke.

"I think I just rather stay inside and watch movies and stuff myself with food." I confessed.

"You most certainly not will and as your best friend I can't allow that. Besides you would waste a really fantastic dress." She said as she vanished into her hallway. She emerged carrying two garment bags. Yesterday I had called for you at your house, but you mom said you were at your grandmother's house.
Which by the I forgive you for ditching me to hang with your grandmother. So I went on ahead and picked up our dresses." She explained placing the bags on her bed.

When Beth began to unzip the bags I was expecting a complete catastrophe. Because the two of us had a difference taste in things, especially when it came to clothes. I was expecting to see sparkly pink ruffles to come popping out. I was shocked to see that I was wrong.

"This one is my dress." She said unzipping the first bag. Beth pulled out a high and low powder blue dress. The front stopped of the knee and that back fell to the floor. "And this one is yours." As she unzipped the last bag. My stomach was in knots. I was almost afraid to look.

She pulled out a fitted black embroidered corset dress, with lace detailing from top to finish. And a mask was wrapped around the hanger. It was a gold and black metal mask. I was in awe because everything looked great.

"Do you like it?" She asked. "Of course." I said giving my friend a side hug.

"Just wait til Christian sees you in that. The only thing that could make my dress look better is a date." She sighed.

"About that there is something I should probably tell you." I confessed. I turned my back so I didn't have to see the look on her face when I told her. I didn't know exactly know how I was going to explain it without sounding crazy. She was my best friend so it wouldn't be that hard for her to believe me. I hope.
"Well...umm there's this guy-"

"I knew it! I could tell by the look on your face it was about someone besides Christian." She said proudly for thinking she read my mind.

"Actually Elizabeth it was about a date for you." I told her.

"A date?" She grabbed my wrist and pulled me to sit down. "Spill. Is he cute, does he go to our school, have I met him before. I need details!" She chirped.

"And I kind of told Christian that he was your boyfriend and there is a one percent chance that he'll show up." I waited for her to say something. Her eyebrows were furrowed together. She got up from the bed and took her dress out of the garment bag.

"Alright."

"Really? I haven't even told you the rest." I said confused.

"Darlin you had me at date. Now come we need to get ready."

Finally after two hours of getting ready. We were finally ready to go to the dance. I grabbed my phone of the bed. I had six missed calls from Christian and he had left a message. "Hey I tried calling you and you weren't at your house. I guess I'll just meet you at the festival then."

"Is that Christian?" Beth asked me.

"Uh yeah we're just going to meet him there." I said turning my phone off. "Wow, you look great."

Beth spun around and so did her dress."We both do." She complimented. I walked over to the full length mirror hanging on her wall. I'd kept my hair simple by leaving it parted down the middle. Beth insisted on doing my makeup. So I was forced to wear a ton of dark eyeliner. She linked arms with mine."Think this mysterious fellow will be there?" She asked as we walked out the room.

A part of me kept hoping he would show. I know I shouldn't be thinking about him but I was. It didn't make sense to me,because I had recently just met him an I can't event get him out my head. I have to promise myself that if by some chance he does show...I'll... I'll.... Actually I didn't know what I'll say to him. I was terribly hopeless. What on earth is he doing to me?

When we arrived at the Mavis festival. We could already hear the music playing from outside. This whole festival began twenty-five years ago. When a man met a girl named Mavis at a high school dance. She was the only girl at the party who wore masquerade mask all night.
Without even knowing much about her the guy was head over heels for her. But by the end of the night she had left and he never even saw her face or saw her ever again.

The outside of the building looked like an old museum. Once we got inside you could hardly recognize anyone for there mask. Each year the inside has to have a theme. This year is was a Night In Wonderland.

At any moment I thought I would see Harry walking towards me. I was a bit disappointed when he didn't. "Let me know if he shows." Beth said placing a hand on my shoulder before vanishing in the sea of people. I began walking when I heard someone say Christian's name.

I turned towards that direction and saw a girl draped all over someone who looked like my boyfriend. I walked closer to see if that was really him. "So where's your girlfriend tonight?" The girl asked him.

"I don't know. I doubt it if she even comes." He said looking behind him. He even looked right at me and didn't even recognize me. I shouldn't felt hurt by that, but tonight I wasn't. The two of them joined the others and began dancing. I stood against the wall like a wallflower watching everyone else have fun. Until I saw guy approach me.

"Hi I'm Blake..oh wait aren't we suppose to remain anonymous til the end of the night." He grinned.

"I think so."

"So you wanna dance?" He seemed friendly and I didn't want to just stand there. It was as if they only played slow songs tonight. Blake and I were halfway through a song when I noticed another guy was walking towards us.

He was the only guy here dressed in all black. He wore black shoes, black pants, a black button down that was tucked in, but not completely button all the way. And he wore a black mask.
Within seconds my heart started to beat fast and I was almost positive he could hear it.

I just let go of Blake's hand and walked towards Harry. "You came."

"You look very beautiful." Harry said. "I would ask you to dance with me, but from the looks of it I'll be getting in line." He said referring to the guy I just met five minutes ago who was waiting for me to go back I him.

I turned around to look, then Harry pulled onto my wrist and put his hand on my back. We started to dance and playing yet again was another slow song. So I had no choice but to be close.

"I apologize for what happened earlier I shouldn't have done that." He said.

"Where did you go?" I asked him.

"Does that really matter?" He asked me.

"See there you go again with this whole mystery guy act. You can't keep leaving me with these riddles and un answered questions. You have to see that I'm losing it." I said trying not to make a big scene.

"And that is why I came here to tell you I won't be disturbing you anymore and-" I cut his sentence off.

"You didn't let me finish. Yeah I might be going crazy, but it's the good kind of crazy." Harry started laugh when I said that. "I don't who you are and my brain is trying to tell me to ignore you....but I don't think I can." I said.

He didn't say anything instead he spun me around. When I came back he pulled me close and I was inches away from his face once again. "So there is a good and bad kind of crazy. Should I be worried for your mental stability?" He laughed.

"Very funny." I said sarcastically.

Our faces gravitated towards each other like magnets. They kept getting closer til his lips were fully planted on mine. This kiss seemed a whole lot different from earlier today. It was like I was lost in his touch.

I could feel his grip tighten around me like he was afraid I would slip through his hand. I could hear the music begin to end and I heard someone call out my name behind me.

"Victoria?"...
