Pages Of Pretend

Sixty-Two

"Harry!" I whined.

"Sorry, I'll keep quiet now." He promised.

Harry and I had been in my house reading the script for over an hour and he behaved quite well for the first… five minutes let's say.
Then he just started reading it with different voices, a baby, an elder woman, a monster and even Oprah. Let's just say he's not very good at impersonating.

"Can I get you anything, cookies, some milk, water?" Eve offered appearing on the living room where we currently were.

"I'm good, thank you." I tried to soothe my glare with a smile.

I know Eve's been very impatience since harry arrived and always peeking through the door. It was starting to get on my nerves why she's like that over Harry. It's even worse than her daughter and they're fans of Harry's band!

"I could have some snack actually." Harry smiled sweetly. "If that's not much trouble of course." He quickly added.

"Of course not." Eve practically squealed. "Are you sure you don't want anything miss Sophia?"

"Fine." I groaned rolling my eyes.

"I'll call when everything's ready." Eve winked taking one last glance towards me and Harry before disappearing to the kitchen.

"Who's that?" Harry turned to me, curiosity in his eyes.

"That's Eve, our maid." I replied flicking through the pages f the script. "How much further have you read?"

"Ehm page 74." He glanced at his own script.

"What if we practice together this part then?" I suggested. I haven't reached that part yet but glancing at the lines it's a dialogue between Dylan and Beatrice, our characters.

"Okay." He sat more properly and turned to me on the sofa, clearing his throat before reading the first line. Our knees practically touching.

"Bea, there's something I need to tell you, Dylan grabbed Beatrice's hands and looked directly at h--"

"Harry!" I laughed. "You're only supposed to read the parts your character really speaks."

"Oh yeah sorry." He shook his head.

"It's okay, continue." I nodded at him.

"Bea, there's something I need to tell you." He started again.

"Dylan, I really don't have time now." I spoke the words of my character.

"It's really important and---" He paused to look at me. "Maybe we could try what they're doing…" Harry spoke for himself now.

"What do you mean?" I raised my brows at him.

"Like really impersonate Dylan and Bea, I can't get into the character just by reading the lines motionless." I was really surprised by his suggestion but accepted nonetheless.

We stood up, scripts in hands and facing each other.

"Let's pick up from where we left." I told him.

"Bea I can't hold the words no more." Harry grabbed my hand just like the script told. I gulped down glancing at our hands touching.

"Okay Dylan, but it really has to be quick." I sighed dramatically impersonating my characters temper.

"I like you." Harry blurted out looking straight into my eyes.

"W-what?" I blinked at him.

"That's not your line." Harry chuckled. I stared down at the pages realizing his words were meant for Beatrice.

"Sorry." I cleared my throat. "I like you too Dylan, where did that came from?"

"No, Bea." Harry took a step closer. "I mean… I really like you, more than a friend."

"Oh."

"Do you like me too?"

"I don't know." I pretended to be embarrassed for my character.

"Yes you do, tell me." Harry took my chin in his hand, his eyes diverting between me and the written pages, assuring he's doing as it says. "Bea, tell me."

"I like you too Dylan." I sighed.

"I knew it." Harry pretended to be super excited. "I think about you so much." He leaned a little closer placing the script on the coffee table.

"Do you really like me?"

"I do, always did." Harry glanced at the script placing both hands on my face just like it says.
I read my next lines and placed my script next to his with the lines in my head to say in the right time.

"Are you sure it will work?" I tilted my head, our bodies closer. It's just our characters, I thought.

"We'll never know if we'll never try." He smiled sweetly, seeming real for a second that it made my heart flutter.

"Okay." I whispered.

Harry glanced at the script again, a frown taking over his features before he turned back to me, my face still cupped in his large hands which I had never noticed how big till now. He leaned down a little closer, back to his previous position.

"That's the part where they kiss." Harry spoke quietly, his face inches closer to mine.

"Oh." I gulped. Harry's eyes diverted to my lips for a while, swallowing as he wetted his own with his tongue.

"The snack is read---" Harry and I jumped apart upon hearing Eve entering the living room. "I can come back later?" She suggested with a huge grin etched on her face.

"We uh... we were just reading the script." I rushed to explain.

"Sure." She winked.

I looked back at Harry who stared at the floor lost in thoughts.

"Let's eat." I passed through Eve to the kitchen trying to remove from my head how close Harry was just a couple seconds ago and how we almost kissed.

It was our characters though so I don't even know why I'm thinking about it. It will happen eventually because Beatrice and Dylan are in love and they obviously kiss in the movie.
Harry joined me a minute later siting on the stool next to mine where Eve placed some cupcakes and orange juice.
We sat uncomfortably next to each other, only the sound of our mouths eating.
Despite the silence, that's the longest we've goon without fighting although he's only here for over an hour and we haven't seen each other that many times since we (forcefully) met.

"So Harry…" Eve clapped enthusiastically. "are you enjoying this new opportunity?"

"Humm yeah." He obviously lied. "I'm still discovering the good things of being an actor."

"Miss Sophia can help you, she's been performing since forever." Eve smugly suggested.

"I'm sure Harry can easily find someone to help him." I rolled my eyes.

"Miss Sophia!" Eve glared at me.

"I'm not saying it in a bad way!" I defended myself. "It's just there's so many people involved in this movie, there's probably someone professional willing to help for sure."

"Humm yeah." Harry nodded.

"Have you seen the house Harry?" Oh God.

"I haven't actually." He replied to her with a small smile.

"That's not very polite miss Sophia, you should show the surrounding to Harry."

"Oh there's no need t---" Harry tried to say.

"Fine." I sighed dramatically descending from the stool. I've lost the appetite anyways.

I looked behind my back to see Eve grinning largely at Harry before he followed me.

"Here's the main hall, when you entered you saw it."

"And this is the living, you've obviously seen it already and here's the dinning room." I pointed to the big area further in the room.

"How many people do you have for dinner?" He eyed the big table.

"The table fits forty people, all the seats are taken when my father has business dinners with other members of the assembly." I quietly explained.

"Members of the assembly? Wow!" Harry's eyes widened.

"Yeah." I bit my lip. "There's nothing really important in this floor, we have the library there, the gym, the heated pool, cinema, and many other room I don't really use."

"The floor below this one is the staff's room like the body guards, the gardener and so one and below that there's the garage." I explained.

"You don't drive, do you?" Harry turned to me.

"I do actually, I got my driver's license when I was in Portugal but since I'm here my father doesn't let because it's supposedly too dangerous, even though there's plenty of cars in the garage that I could drive." I explained with a roll of eyes.

"Someday you should just take a car and go somewhere." Harry chuckled.

"I'm seriously considering it." I told him leading him upstairs.

"This is my father's suite." I pointed to the doubled door in one side of the hall. "He doesn't really like people going in there but we can have a little peek. It has this vintage decoration."

"Your father's really something, isn't he?" When I looked up at him there was no mocking tone, only seriousness.

"Yeah." I sighed. He's way more actually but that's not something I want to share with him. "That's his favourite room, he spends hours here and makes sure Eve keeps it tidy all the time."

"Your dad plays piano?"

"I've never seen him play because he always closes the door but sometimes I hear him from the hall so I guess he does..."

"Humm..." He merely hummed.

"That's guest rooms, many of them actually and here's my room." I pointed to the only other doubled door of the rooms.

"Finally." Harry joked and I swat his arm.

"There it is." I opened the door for him to get in.

"Definitely not how I pictured it." He confessed.

"Disappointed because I don't have teddy bears or barbies?"

"Actually..." He chuckled getting himself him.

"What's that little house over there?" He stared at my window to the wooden house.

"Oh my father built it a while ago, I never got in there because it's locked but from what I've seen from the windows there, it's looks really beautiful."

"Humm..." Harry plopped on my bed making me wince.

"You don't really have manners, do you?" I crossed my arms in front of my chest.

"I do actually." He smirked.

"I really don't know why I try..." I huffed.

"C'mon Sophia, relax a little. You're really uptight, you need to loosen up a bit."

"Like you?" I raised my brows.

Instead of answering, Harry got up walking towards the group of pictures hanging on the wall.

"Is this your mum?" He took one of the pictures in his hand.

"Put it down!" I rushed to his side trying to take it from him. I really hate people going through my stuff, specially my mum's.

"You look a lot like her." He pointed out.

"Harry put it down now!" I demanded moving forward knocking both of us to the ground.

"Ouch." Harry groaned from below me holding onto my waist.

I placed my hands on his chest for support. His eyes bore into mine, a pure sparkling green. I've never seen his eyes shine so much but it's really beautiful. I noticed the little freckles on his nose and his long eyelashes.
Harry flicked his tongue out to wet his pink lips forcing me to stare. His hands squeezed my hips slightly, pushing me further down. My heart beat increased dramatically on my chest, I had never straddled a boy before but I really couldn't move either.
My eyes fluttered when Harry's lips brushed mine.

"If you wanted the picture back all you had to do was ask." He murmured still extremely close.

"I did ask." I immediately stood up regaining my composure. "Asshole."

"You really need to loosen up a bit..." Harry stood up, his hand combing through his hair.

He looks normal now but just a few seconds ago, on the floor, he was different. The way he held me and how his eyes sparkled.
That was probably from my imagination, Harry doesn't seem the type to develop any sort of deep feeling for anyone. Is he?
