To Fall So Deep

All of Me

The frigid air prickled the skin like tiny pinches to every goose bump and nerve. Flakes of cold, white flurries cascaded from the murky evening sky, coating the ground and each tree branch with a thick pad of winter’s gift. The winds howled, rattling the branches and vegetation. The only warmth that could be seen or felt in that moment was artificial and came from the yellow glow of the tall lamp posts wedged in between the line of trees on either sides of the road.

Nina hugged her body, rubbing her arms in attempt to slow down the hypothermia. She trudged through the snow, the bottoms of her jeans soaking wet. The strands of her long, dark, wavy hair were sprinkled with little drops of snow that gleamed like crystals underneath the moon. Nina’s almond-shaped, brown eyes were glossed with tears, dribbling down her cheeks like an icy stream.

“Harry,” she breathed, hicupping at each syllable. Her mind refused to grasp the idea that the love of her life was no longer on this Earth, and instead united with the Gods and Goddesses who created their love story from the very first hello.

Nina ached for Harry’s touch; to look into the green eyes she loved so much, and to tell him repeatedly how much she loved him. Her mind replayed several sweet moments she shared with Harry, but doing so only brought upon more pain.

She and Harry had fought harder than ever to be together. They risked friendships, publicity, and the lives of their family members just so their affection would live in justice. To have it end at a gravesite rather than together in old age, greatly wounded Nina.

“Jezabelle,” Nina whispered to herself, remembering the monster whom she assumed took Harry away from her.

Jezabelle wanted Harry from the beginning and instead of letting it go, she let the pain take over. Now Nina was in pain and was slowly succumbing to the unbearable sting. Unlike Jezabelle, Nina was in no mood for murder. Though she wanted more than ever to seek revenge on her sadistic classmate, Nina knew that vengeance would not bring Harry back to her. She also knew that the strongest pain killers in the world would not ebb the ache, and that the only solution running through her mind was a permanent one.

“Jezabelle! I’m here!” Nina yelled into the sky, her arms open wide. Her voice echoed in the eerie evening winds. “You want me? Take me!”

Nina spun around in the snow, as if frocking like a child. She spun faster and faster, the images around her blurring together like a cacophony of paint dripping onto a blank canvas. Her mind grew dizzy with each turn of her body, her heartbeat increased at a faster pace, and the winter’s chill lessened. A smile was etched on her face, small giggles escaping her lips.

Nina collapsed onto the snow, falling onto her back, her body sprawled open like a starfish. She breathed heavily, her chest heaving up and down as her eyes gazed at the thousands of shining stars flickering above her. Snowflakes fell onto her dark eyelashes, and with every blink, they melted into droplets that ran down her face like tears.

“I’m here Jezabelle,” Nina whimpered, tears once again falling from her eyes. “Come get me, please. I’m all yours. I have nothing to lose.”

A bright pair of headlights flourished before her, casting sinister shadows around. Nina sat up, her body heat melting the snow on her clothes, leaving several wet spots. The blinding glow emerged with speed and she threw her arm to her eyes to shield them from the glare.

When Nina slowly brought her arm back down, she saw a car parked at the edge of the road. Her head cocked to the side in confusion, as she watched with caution. The car door opened, a foot stepped onto the ground, and then the other one. The door slammed shut and the sound of rubber soles to snow filled her ears as the figure inched its way towards her.

“Oh my God,” Nina cried, standing up from the snow. She threw her hands to her mouth, trying to stifle the gasps. Right before her very eyes, in all his glory was Harry. He stood a few yards away, with a look of relief on his face.

“Nina!” he called out.

“Harry,” Nina croaked, breaking down with both joy and alleviation. She lurched forward, running towards Harry, happiness radiating from every inch of her body.

“Baby,” Harry smiled, opening up his arms wide. She was coming home, straight into his embrace, and he couldn’t wait to have her in within his touch.

Nina’s heart fluttered, relieved to see the love of her life alive and well. She grinned from ear to ear, still tasting the salty beads that profusely dropped into her mouth. The snow made it difficult to run, but with Harry only a few feet away, there was nothing that could possibly slow down Nina’s endeavors to wrap her arms around Harry.

Except for one thing.

With her arms wide, Nina jumped towards Harry, but in that split second she was slightly midair, her eyes prematurely drained the bliss and the snow that fell came to a sudden halt. The night became silent, as the winds died down to a whisper, only carrying the echoes of an unexpected bang.

Nina’s body collapsed into Harry’s strong arms, and he teetered backwards, plummeting onto the frosty ground. Dark, crimson liquid flowed from Nina’s back and soaked the bed of pure white snow. Blood dampened Harry’s clothing and hands, as he held onto Nina’s fading body.

“Nina!” Harry screamed, his body trembling with fear. He looked up, staring eye to eye with the monster.

Jezabelle stood with her eyes wide and her arm brandishing the black gun out before her. A wisp of smoke danced out of the tip of the weapon before the ruthless girl dropped it onto the ground. She turned on her heel, running away with great speed.

“Oh my God! Nina! Stay with me baby, please!” Harry cried, hugging Nina. She lay across his lap, as Harry cradled her lovingly.

Her breath slowed down, blood continuing to pour out of her frail body. Nina lifted her hands up, caressing Harry’s cheek.

“I love you baby,” Nina declared, tears running down her face.

“I love you more,” Harry’s voice cracked, “please stay with me. Don’t leave me. Let’s go! I’ll take you to the hospital.”

“Sing for me,” Nina said, her voice faint and weak.

“What? Later. I have to take you to the hospital,” Harry explained.

Nina shook her head, “please baby… sing for me.”

“Baby, I need to save you,” Harry whimpered, stroking Nina’s cheek, and wiping away her tears with his thumb.

Nina coughed violently, the pain increasing with each second. Blood surfaced from her mouth, and she knew that she was dying faster. She looked deeply into Harry’s green eyes, using the last few moments of her life gazing at the beautiful figure that loomed above her.

“I love you,” Nina breathed, her eyes closing. She took a deep breath inward, coughing and drowning in her own blood that was slowly filling up her lungs.

“Don’t you fucking dare leave me Nina! I love you, I need you!”

“Harry, baby, please… just sing for me,”

He nodded, bringing Nina closer to him in a tighter embrace. He kissed her forehead, remembering the first moment they met.

“What would I do without your smart mouth? Drawing me in and you kicking me out. You’ve got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t pin you down. What’s going on in that beautiful mind? I’m on your magical mystery ride, and I’m so dizzy, don’t know what hit me, but I’ll be alright.”

…Almost falling on the ground, Nina's arm was quickly grabbed by the busboy and pulled up with ease. Her dark, almond-shaped eyes caught his green ones, and it was like sorcery what his gaze did to her.

"You okay, love?" he asked…

“My head’s under water, but I’m breathing fine. You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind,” Harry continued to sing for Nina. She was drifting in and out, her eyes opening and closing. Harry’s mind went back to the time when he first saw pain in her eyes—the evening when Harry knew that he wanted nothing more than to only see her smile.

"…Nina, it slipped out. I didn't mean any of it," Harry whispered. He stood right behind Nina, and wrapped his arms around her. He nuzzled his head right by hers, his lips by her ear, "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I'm sorry. I fucked up…”

“Cause all of me, loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections. Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you,” Harry’s voice, though filled with woe, soothed Nina, making her forget about dying. Her head drifted to the moment that she knew she was in love with the curly headed boy.

…She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Wordlessly her thoughts spoke volumes, because when Harry's lips finally met hers, it was like her heart screamed her feelings…

And she knew, right then and there, that she was truly, madly, deeply in love with Harry Styles…

“You’re my end and my beginning, even when I lose I’m winning. Cause I give you all of me, and you give me all of you,” Harry couldn’t believe that he was losing the girl he was madly in love with. He had just lost his sister and his heart ached from the promises he made.

"…And Harry…" Gemma paused. Harry looked up at his sister who beamed at him, "fight for Nina. If there's one thing I learned from all those romantic movies I watch, is that you fight for your one true love. I don't get to do that, so you have to do it for me. Promise?"

"I promise," Harry choked…

“Give me all of you. Cards on the table, we’re both showing hearts. Risking it all, though it’s hard,” Harry fought for Nina, just like he had promised Gemma, but in this very moment, she was fighting for her life and there was nothing Harry could do to save her.

“...Listen to me. You are beautiful, you are smart, you are kind, and you are my everything…I’ve fallen so deep for you… so fucking deep that it drives me insane sometimes. Anything I do, I do for you. I can’t see my future unless I picture it with you in it—getting married, having kids, growing old together. That’s us, that’s our future. I love you! Nina Joyce Dela Vera, will you promise to catch me forever?...”

“Cause all of me, loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections. Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you,” Harry broke down more, struggling to keep it together.

…Sparks weren’t flying in this moment, but were propelling in random explosions of love and passion... Every subtle touch, every hair tug, every lip caress, every hot breath, were all tiny pieces of a greater puzzle that created a picture worth more than a thousand words…

Together they moved in unison, the feeling of their sweaty skin rubbing against each other sending ecstasy to rupture within them… Worry fled, elation skyrocketed, and when Harry and Nina reached the top together, the Gods and Goddesses who handcrafted their love with enchantment and alchemy, rejoiced with the stars…

“You’re my end and my beginning, even when I lose I’m winning. Cause I give you all of me…” Harry paused, crying through the words that meant more to him that just his favorite song. They were lyrics that spoke from his heart and jetted straight into hers.

Nina continued to fade, as her breathing shortened and became more painful. She opened her eyes once again, trying to keep them open for just a few more delicate seconds. Harry held her even closer, rocking her back and forth. Nina opened her mouth and with her last breath, she finished the song for him.

“And you give me all… of… you,” Nina’s eyes dimmed and her lids closed tightly. Her body became limp, no longer struggling to live. Her head fell backwards in Harry’s arm, and just like that, Nina no longer became Nina.

The winds picked up again and so did the snow. It was as if Mother Nature gave the lovers one last moment of peace. Harry hugged onto Nina’s lifeless body, feeling her warmth filter away. He couldn’t breath, he couldn’t remember how. This was the day she stopped breathing—the day she took her last breath, and took his with her.

Notes

Oh. My. Gosh.

This story is basically over! The last chapter has been posted and all that's left is the epilogue! This won't be my "proper goodbye" to this story just yet, but I'm absolutely amazed by this ride! I still remember coming up with this story and spending every free moment I could organizing my thoughts, coming up with a timeline of events, and writing chapters. This story is my baby. It's my first real fanfiction, and I will always be proud of TO FALL SO DEEP. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has read this story, commented, voted, and subscribed! I seriously cannot thank you enough! Writing TO FALL SO DEEP became my outlet. In between all the studying, homework, and life during my 1st year of university, this story was something I could always look forward to writing. So thank you again for all your support! I will see you again with the epilogue, final thank you's, and special dedications!!

Commenting is the least I can do to tell you how much I love and appreciate your story, and it doesn't take too much time to do so, so I figure why not comment? But oh my gosh, I cannot believe that was the last chapter and all that's left is an epilogue. And this chapter just… I think it slightly killed me - more than you already nonliterally have that is - when you killed her off and then with Harry and everything. And freaking Jezabelle… Don't even get me started on how much I want to murder that bitch right now. The chapter is written beautifully nonetheless, and I can't wait for the epilogue. xx
