To Fall So Deep

And the Snowball Effect Begins

It couldn’t be real.

None of this could be reality, because it was too good to be true. Distress and heartache followed them like some kind of fatal infection, and the virus wouldn’t let go. But this, lying in the bed, cuddled close, legs tangled in the white sheets, all this could not be in the same realm as the one that anguish so often made an appearance in.

With her head on Harry’s bare chest, Nina’s eyes lifted open. Her arm was wrapped around him, while his hands lay folded on her back. Nina looked up at the boy she loved so much and smiled, happy to be in his protective arms. She leaned up, stretching her neck to meet his jawline. Nina left a quick peck before burying her face back into his chest.

“Good morning Missus Styles,” raspy, whispered, and all too sexy for Nina to handle, Harry softly caressed the back of Nina’s head.

“Morning, love of my life,” Nina giggled, tilting her head to look at Harry. “Did you sleep well?”

“Of course. Even through your obnoxious, dragon-like snoring,” Harry joked. Nina smacked him in the chest,

“I do not snore obnoxiously… maybe just a little. Like baby hamster snores.”

“Baby hamster snores? Really babe?”

“Okay, adult hamsters. No where near dragon like,”

“You’re cute,” Harry declared with a chuckle.

“And you too,” Nina stated.

Nina and Harry lie silently for the next thirty minutes, playing with each other’s hands, exploring bodies, and stealing kisses. There was no talking to express feelings, but the way their hearts would race with subtle touches, or the way their skin would succumb to goose bumps spoke volumes.

“Baby,” Nina finally said.

“Yes?” Harry responded, lacing and unlacing their fingers. He admired the simple ring that adorned Nina’s finger, collectively meaning that she was his.

“I’m hungry,” Nina disclosed, and a moment after her stomach started to grumble.

“Yes you are,” Harry laughed. He sat up from the bed, grabbing a small binder off of the side table and flipping it open, “how about we order room service?”

“Sounds perfect,” Nina slipped out of bed, holding the sheets to her naked body.

“Baby, really?” Harry gestured to Nina’s sudden shyness.

“What?”

“Why are you hiding? I’ve already seen you butt-naked,”

“I don’t care!” Nina groaned, “it’s daylight.”

“Daylight, twilight, moonlight, you will always be the most gorgeous girl ever in my eyes,” Harry stated proudly.

“You’re such a cheeseball,” Nina laughed, bopping Harry on the nose, “but I love it.”

“I know,” Harry leaned forward and kissed Nina. “What do you want to eat?”

“Anything. You order baby. I’m gonna shower,” Nina said, pulling out clothes from her duffle bag that was settled on the chair.

As Nina showered, Harry lounged on the bed flipping through the channels on the television as he waited for their food to be brought to the room. As he continued his endeavors in finding cartoons to watch, Harry’s eyes immediately widened at the morning news broadcast, and put the volume to full blast.

“After receiving an email from someone who claims to be Harry Styles, the 18-year-old son of Ashford Mayor Desmond Styles, investigators are doing all they can do to either confirm or deny this claim. The contents of the email are all but scarce, exposing the true colors of Ashford’s Mayor, and the truth behind the whereabouts of Desmond Style’s eldest child, Gemma Styles,”

“Babe, what are you watching?” Nina emerged from the bathroom with nothing but a towel on, her hair dripping wet.

Harry looked to Nina and sighed, “I sold out my dad.”

“You what?” Nina exclaimed, stepping closer to Harry.

“I sent an email to the Ashford press with recent photos of Gemma and I, along with her medical records,” Harry confessed.

“If his own son ratted him out, then that shows who Desmond Styles really is. I don’t think I want him as Mayor anymore,” an older man spoke into the microphone of the news anchor.

Harry and Nina sat at the edge of the bed, their eyes glued to the screen of the hundreds of Ashford locals protesting in the impeachment of Desmond Styles. As the camera panned out to reveal the mass, a gasp escaped Harry’s mouth in realization of where the angry swarm stood.

The Styles residence.

The enraged horde of rioters convened on the front lawn of the Styles mansion, picketing and causing a scene that would be captured by the several camera crews. The resident guard Joseph, who was usually perched inside the booth right outside of the black wrought-iron gate was nowhere in sight from what Harry could see.

“This is mad,” Harry finally said. Nina threw her arm around his shoulder and kissed his cheek.

“We should go home,” Nina suggested.

“Babe no, not when the front of my house is littered with paps and crazy people,” Harry almost chuckled at the thought.

“If not now, then later tonight. They can’t stay out on your front lawn forever,” Nina pointed out.

“Then tonight,” Harry smiled, kissing Nina on the forehead.

There was a knock on the door, and both their attention switched.

“Room service,” a deep voice resonated from the other side.

“I’m gonna go dry up,” Nina stood from the bed and retreated back to the bathroom, but not before Harry retorted.

“Keep the towel handy baby. I’ll make you wet later.”

Nina’s jaw dropped as Harry broke into a fit of laughter. As he clutched his cramping stomach, Nina stripped herself of the towel and hurled it towards Harry. He teetered backwards from the unexpected impact of towel to head, his giggles ceasing. By the time he pulled the damp towel off of his head, he received perfect view of Nina’s bare bum entering the bathroom.

“Fuck,” Harry grinned, looking up at the ceiling as if speaking to some higher power, “I really lucked out with that one.”

* * * *

When Canterbury locals spoke of a storm of a century despite what their local weatherman said, there was more than a truth to their claims. Snow fell from the sky the entire day, leaving the ground with a thick layer of what looked liked fluffy, white marshmallows. All of Canterbury, Ashford, and the local towns instantly became a beautiful winter wonderland.

As Harry parked his car against the curb outside of the Dela Vera residence, Nina unbuckled her seat belt. She looked at the window, catching a glimpse of the warm home that awaited for her. It seemed empty, but if it weren’t for the soft, yellow glow emitting from the window, the quaint home could’ve fooled anyone for a silent one.

“Call me later,” Harry said.

“Promise,” Nina smiled, leaning it to kiss Harry on the lips. She pulled away, but Harry quickly pulled her back.

“Don’t leave me,” Harry whined, pouting his lip.

“I won’t, never ever,” Nina chuckled. “Go deal with the things at your house, and come over later. I’ll leave my window unlocked for you.”

Harry nodded, cupping Nina’s face, gently rubbing her cheeks with his thumb, “I love you sweetheart.”

His lips met hers, and their eyes closed tightly. As they both deepened the kiss, their breaths grew heavier together, and the couple couldn’t help but to crack a smile through the kiss. Harry and Nina have shared countless kisses, but this one seemed more special than any others. It was a kiss that spoke several notches of love and compassion.

“Okay, okay,” Nina breathed, gently pulling away, her forehead leaning against Harry’s. “Go home, take care of your family—take care of Gemma.”

Nina grabbed her duffle bag and opened the passenger door, the chilly winter air prickling her cheeks. She leaped out of her seat and slammed the door shut. Harry rolled the window down, watching Nina walk up the pathway to the front door, her feet creating tiny footprints in the fresh snow.

“I LOVE YOU NINA DELA VERA STYLES!” Harry shouted at the top of his lungs. Nina whipped her head around and laughed,

“Shh! You’ll wake up the entire neighborhood!”

“Then the entire neighborhood will know of my love for you,” Harry happily explained, “and if you love me, you’ll do the same!”

“I love you Harry,” Nina declared with a grin, however Harry was not convinced.

“Louder babe,”

“I love you Harry!”

“I’m sorry what was that? You love whom? Niall?” Harry cupped his hand around his ear.

“It’s cold, let me go inside. You know I love you,” Nina groaned.

“Come on, please sweetheart? Say it really loud, for me?” Harry pouted. Nina sighed, rolling her eyes at the cute, curly-headed boy inside the car.

“I LOVE YOU HARRY EDWARD STYLES!”

Harry sat with his jaw dropped, surprised at the amount of power Nina had in her body as her voice echoed throughout the evening air. At that moment, a neighbor opened the front door and took a peak outside. The old woman who was bundled up looked around in confusion before scowling at the duo.

“Sorry Missus Ward,” Nina waved, as the mousey woman shook her head in disapproval and scampered back inside her home. Nina and Harry broke out into laughter, clutching their stomachs.

‘That was brilliant Nina,” Harry applauded, and Nina bowed with pleasure.

“I’ll see you later baby,” Nina was shivering at this moment and pulled her beanie further down her head to cover her cold ears. Her breath danced right before her lips.

“Stay warm okay? I’ll be over ASAP to cuddle,”

“Looking forward to it,” with that, Nina turned on her heel and continued up the snow-covered pathway to the front door.

Nina entered the house, relieved to be out of the cold and in the warmth. She flipped on the foyer light, hearing the hum of the television. She walked into the living room, where Kathleen sat on the couch watching the news, drinking what seemed to be hot cocoa from a large mug.

“Hi Ate,” Kathleen greeted, not even turning her head.

Nina dropped her duffle bag on the floor by the couch and plopped down next to her sister. Nina didn’t say a word but threw her hand in front of Kathleen’s view of the screen. Though it didn’t resonate with her at first, Kathleen’s eyes widened, and almost dropped her the hot liquid onto her lap.

“Ate no!” Kathleen gasped, gawking the simple ring that adorned her sister’s finger.

“Yup,” Nina nodded, letting out a breath, “yesterday.”

“Oh my God… I… wow Ate… congrats,” Kathleen who was still speechless, spoke in the best way she knew how: with a hug. She pulled her sister into a tight embrace. “No lie, I kinda wished I was there with you.”

“Don’t worry baby sis,” Nina started, as she pulled away from the hug, “yesterday was just for Harry and I. I promise to have a proper wedding with you as my maid of honor.”

“That sounds like the perfect plan!"

Notes

Commenting is the least I can do to tell you how much I love and appreciate your story, and it doesn't take too much time to do so, so I figure why not comment? But oh my gosh, I cannot believe that was the last chapter and all that's left is an epilogue. And this chapter just… I think it slightly killed me - more than you already nonliterally have that is - when you killed her off and then with Harry and everything. And freaking Jezabelle… Don't even get me started on how much I want to murder that bitch right now. The chapter is written beautifully nonetheless, and I can't wait for the epilogue. xx
